  1. Being into Wurm Online a lot and having "my own" alliance, I've also set up a discord channel where we can discuss things. Last night I decided to use Discord to stream a session when playing Sacred 2, as I knew some players are / were interested in that game. To make sure nothing "bad" would happen, I decided to play my Shadow Warrior; as he's by far my strongest character. And also the only one being in Niob without having died, while being "only" level 95. So I started the game, started the stream, had one person joining me there, but managed to keep things interesting enough for her to keep watching it, instead of playing another game. And thus I ran through the area East of Sloeford, killing level 114 Kobolds and their occasional level 115 earth elemental summons, doing quests and explaining what the game was about, how the skill system, item colours and CA system worked. Eventually I ended up in the northern part of that area, where I picked up a quest, then went to the resurrection monolith and wondered if I should pick up the quest from the NPC next to it. In general the consideration was about two things: 1) That monster was known for killing a LOT of starting characters, as it's the first one using debuffing 2) My SW was able to kill most kobolds with 2 hits, their champ versions with 3 hits and most bears and boars with 3 hits as well. Eventhough they're at level 114 and my SW was just at level 95. So I decided to accept that quest and face the White Griffin. And boy, was I mistaken about what to encounter. It was in general the debuffing that eventually killed me. Instead of keeping it as it was after debuffing, I tried to turn them on, forgot about the time it took to finish the animations, talked over the headset and got two big shots of that griffin in a row, while I tried to hit space to counter that first hit. And thus the only character that managed to get into Niob below level 100 without dying, died. Resulting not only in loosing that "record", but also the 93.7%SB I had. Needless to say that I didn't accept the death, went in and killed that Griffin. I just wished I'd done that BEFORE getting killed. But at least the streaming attempt I had in mind had all it should contain, a hero, a tragic death and the demise of a semi-boss monster. Thorin

  2. Soooooo... I have not really updated anyone about the Situation in South Africa that much. We are also in Lockdown. Most people have to stay home, except for essential services and fortunately I am in a position that is seen as "essential". The kitchen where I work now has a deli/butchery/shop attached to it. We bake fresh breads daily, we sell fresh fruit and vegetables, meats(very important in South Africa), raw ingredients, as well as freezer meals (we prepare the Lasagna, bobotie, cottage pie, quiche, cakes, tarts, mousse, ice cream, salads, etc) and you go eat it at home. As well as baked things like rusks, cookies, biscuits etc that has a long shelf life and can be part of a meal or snack. I am very great full for the chance to keep working. I get 2 meals a day at work, it keeps me busy and they are still paying me. We did close 2 bistro's, the taproom, and "Die Kraal"(a farm style restaurant that is only open Friday-Sundays for lunch). So a lot of staff was forced to take leave with pay cuts (including the ones still working) and if you where unhappy with that, well then that is your resignation. The good thing is that if you took your leave time, you will still have a job when the lockdown is over. but since I started beginning of March, I did not have leave time yet, and they did not want to have to fire me, they really want me to stay on. so I was the first one to get offered the chance to keep working. We used to be 18-21 in the kitchen per day, we are now only 6 kitchen staff (including the head chef) on the roster for this time period, so sometimes we are only 3 people in the whole kitchen for the day. Shifts are mostly 07:00 - 16:00 for me, unless the lady managing the bakery is off, then I work 03:00 - 12:00(yes, 03:00 in the morning) to bake the breads. The roads are so quiet... it is actually great being on the road!

  3. Yup, the loss of that huge amount of SB was more painful as the death itself. I see that death a bit as being too confident about being able to deal with Niob monsters at a Platinum level SW, but loosing that SB..... Yet, as the same time I think the entire event showed the person watching me what the game is about; the challenges, the possible death by a monster and how to avenge your own death. It was enough to spark her interest in the game, so who knows; perhaps we got another Sacred(2) addict soon. Most important lesson I learned from it, is to create a backup of my chars. Because the ones I got are way to old to deal with a situation like this..... Thorin

  4. oh man... sorry to hear you had to take that hit and lose that survival bonus... the white griffin is a bit of a nasty boss to take on... I have run away so many times... and have started spamming my healing potions, not caring about the buffs that are getting debuffed... just trying to kill it as soon as possible...

  5. I remember a time in german sacred forum when I wrote that I am actually using alchemy in my builds. Alchemy was so useful: mentors for minutes, healing potions doing full heals and best was this trophy you could use for healing. It hadn't the delay healing potions had and it could be used in PvP and against this griphon. How unfair David

  6. For some reason the release of this show has prompted me to go back and watch Star Trek: The Next Generation. I'd only ever seen random episodes in syndication was I was growing up in the 90's. I'm determined to watch all of it. 178 hour-long episodes. I've only made it through Season 2 currently. It's so good, very much like classic Trek (my favorite). I've read this was because Gene Roddenberry was still heavily involved in the first two seasons.

  7. Haha yeah it's rough. I've lost a 92% Survival Bonus on my first Dragon Mage when testing a mod years ago. Now I always have back up copies of all characters for testing. I actually made the decision just a few weeks ago to remove that debuffing effect from that chain lightning spell completely in my mods. This means The White Griffin, those little Furies in the Northland, and lots of custom creatures will no longer make gameplay so miserable. I decided to replace the effect with a little-used property that penalizes your regeneration times instead. So you still don't want to be hit by it but at least it's not fatal.

  8. lol...i SO hate that boss... its a sickly weird strange sensation feeling that everything is not working, and then realizing your buffs are down and then, as your screen red zones and you get that heart palpitating flash... you run.... Ahhh, the memories of HC! Thorin, RIP Mate... and with your brave and strong SW! gogo

  9. @Veracious still on the avatar here. Although last week I finally managed to watch the last two movies in the resident evil franchise. I have a weak spot for those, but mainly the first three. The last two were a solid "meh"

  10. https://foldingathome.org/ Just sharing this here. I know the contribution of each person won't move mountains, but if enough people get together we can make a difference.

  13. My personal vote would go to a motorized desk as well. We have manual ones in our office, but I had the luxury of using fully motorized desks at one of our clients. Especially the ones with built-in memory, wow. No need for such a chair when you can switch between standing and sitting down that easily. IMHO. Though a chair can be a decent investment if you do have/want to sit down all day. As far as I've heard, Herman Miller is the go-to brand for proper office chairs.

  14. Too bad that there is a lockdown. testsitting on one of them would have been a good idea. I started using them as a student with a room of just 8 squaremetres. Was a foldable one with desk included. Was pushed below the bed when not needed. made room for social contacts, Was of cause in a time when pen, paper, pocket calculator and a math book was all a math student needed. There are more variants, removable back ... The model my wife is using in her praxis looks like this Sitting, working and relaxing on them is more flexible than you may think.
