  14. I'm almost wishing I hadn't seen this movie. I don't think I've seen anything this disparaging about the human race in a long time. In fact, I don't think there was even one person who had anything close to what we would even call a moral. Which makes me ask...what does it take to make us do really evil things? This movie was made and Directed by Sidney Lumet, a director who's made many movies (anyone remember Verdict?) and stars Philip Seymour Hoffman (evil dude from last mission impossible...can be creepy), Ethan Hawke and Albert Finney. It's about two brothers in the midst of financial and spiritual crises and what they're willing to do to solve their problems. In this case, they decide to rob their parents. Yes, that's right, their parents. So... after Hoffman (course it's him who starts off this coil) coerces his brother, Hawke to rob their parents' jewelry store, the tale begins, and it's relentless. The movie is very long. Two hours. And it's something I think the director purposely did. There were times when I was expecting an edit...but there was none. Instead, we had to arduously labor along with the characters during times that seemed almost painful to watch. I then realized that this was purposely done. That evil starts like this, in small steps. It grows, and you don't realize that you're on a path so much darker than what it was you first started up on until you're committed full bore, and that's when the horror sets in. I remember thinking at times, why, why am I watching this. There is something compelling about seeing a tragedy like this. You're eventually wondering, what can possibly happen that can be worse than we've already seen? And Lument proudly presents another twist, a jab to draw even more pain out of his cast as well as us, the viewers. It's an awesome tale of destruction. I have to use the words awesome here because, this is in fact the other side of the coin of life. And while we, being human, need positive influences to encourage us to keep toiling away, when you see directed events like this that show us what happens when every facet of human negativity is brought to light, you can't help feeling breathing a sigh of relief and thinking..." Glad it's not me!" And is that so bad? We realize during these moments that the axe has fallen, call it fate, destiny, choice whatever...and for the characters in this movie, that axe falls hard. I can't help somehow thinking that maybe the reason I liked the movie so much was this horrible relief of "glad it's not me" Does seeing movies like this keep us strong, so that we try to be better people, try to make the right choices? I don't know. At the end of the movie when you hear the jeweler's final lines to the bereaved father....the evil that we're capable of.... It scares me. Yeah, I was a wreck after watching this movie, and for good reasons. Recommended viewing gogo

  18. Sorry for the double post Just added the officlal Sacred 2 avatars to Sacred Wiki http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php5/Sacred_2:Avatars gogo
  19. Interesting. Once again, Telari, it's your attention to shading that draws my eye. I'm looking at your avatar now (nice one btw) and see that you're good with the tresses. The interesting thing here is that I read a while back an article that Pixar had written about "hair." It seems that hair is one of the hardest things to draw, especially with their movies. They were saying that hair is something the human eye picks up very quickly on, and that it's also notoriously difficult to do well. Shadow, lighting, richness...hair's complexities make it one of the most challenging traits on a human for an artist to capture, and it seems like you're great at it. Another nice set of pics, I'm enjoying this thread very much. And, lol... I don't think I want to meet your High Elf if she's in an angry mood. Another question... do you already "know" the moods of your drawings before you draw them? Or does their "mood" just make itself apparent when you're drawing them? For example, would a character that you draw come out looking fierce as a reflection of the mood you're in at that time...or is it just your "feel" for what you think that character would be like? gogo
  20. lol, that's me You guys probably noticed that the account I was playing is now out of the clan. It was the lowest ranked, and I was having a miserable time playing it, lol. I'm just not one for constant fleetsaving and having a bazillion moons in the center of the universe was causing me pain Ike yesterday offered to take his old account back from me and give it to firefly's girlfriend, and so... for the first time in years... the ogame link does not have to be opened by me. Free... free...the o'crack is gone, yeee haw! *dances with glee* I"m still around on the boards for for nefarious ideas and plottings though ^^ gogo
  21. That's an awesome pic Knuckles. For some reason, it seems to be how I'd pictured you as well. You look like...a dad! Guess your writing is that good huh ^^ Regarding spandex and you.... nope gogo
  22. Both are incredible, I'm fascinated by how well you shade. The pic on with two girls, the girl on the left, her hair... incredible. I hope you'll keeep drawing ^^Question, how long does it take you to draw these? Keep it up, TelariTurunen And welcome to DarkMatters! gogo
  23. Whew, glad to hear it's once again gone... lag waves are spreading through the net... keep your sticks ready for use in case of a sneaky return gogo
  24. That's a great pic Stubbie. And count each one of those wrinkles in the tracksuit as a salute to your success. Well done! I understand how finding a balance can be testing. Especially when considering that this "balance" is an every day thing. When looking at a hamburger, it's not only just about how it's going to taste, but also about it's impact on the rest of our life. I remember there was a year when I was eating so much junk food and also gained some weight...and getting it off was tough to do, becuase I had "learned" that I enjoyed the benefits of snack food tastes, and I had to re-learn and be convinced of the benefits of deeper repercussions and impacts of how what I ate and did would affect my energy levels, work productivity and basic wellness. It's great hearing that you're on a roll and, most importantly are aware and actively working towards this balance of instant satisfaction v.s. the benefits and long term rewards of a great lifestyle. You'll soon be posting your mile run stats ^^ Great you got the pic up Kery, more faces to the names! gogo
