  1. This skin definitely takes a while to get used to, but it does get the point across oh so well. I am afraid however, that Schot's effort to make everything "Christmas representable" had an influence that went outside of this forum. Because as of a couple of hours, the city I live in is PACKED (literally ) with snow. Now this surely cannot be a coincidence
  2. Hmm, Loco, your post throws things off again (). When I had like a zillion chance not to get hit by that ice elemental's ranged attack (Through various means like reflect, block, avoid etc): 8 out of 10 of that ice elemental attacks "missed". The projectile reached my character (Visually), no health was dropped and no shield or anything that would absorb it. This concludes that this is indeed a "Miss" right? Then how come all 10 attacks out of all 10, did inflict the "Slow" effect? *Mind boggles*
  3. Of course! No need to ask, this is a public forum after all. As for the warranty, some countries have laws that protect the citizens against what's happening to you right now. For example, if I buy a graphics card in my country (I'm Dutch by the way) and it only has 1 year warranty, I still have 3 years warranty. This is because warranty rules made by an international company are not as valid as the law in countries. So while the international company (ASUS for example) does not have to provide me with a new graphics card if it dies in 3 years (as long as I didn't tamper with it of course), the shop I bought it from has to pay me back my money, give me an identical card or one of similar "bang for buck" so to speak. I don't know about all countries of course, but if you have a family member or a friend who knows such things, I would definitely try talking to that person. It's worth a shot!
  4. You're not the only one, really. Sacred 2 is a great game in my opinion, and the gameplay of Sacred 2 is similar to Sacred 1. But Sacred 1 has certain distinctive features that are missing in Sacred 2. I at least hope they'll bring back some of the old classes, or a mix of sacred 1 and 2's classes and perhaps one or two new ones. I personally think, and most of you would probably agree, that if the Seraphim is gone, Sacred isn't Sacred anymore. I do not mind any mixes of other classes like vampiress, dark elf, dwarf, shadow warrior (I think Shadow Warrior is a lot more interesting than Gladiator). Battle Mage, High Elf, and Dragon Mage share very similar traits, I think only one should return, or 2 with very distinctive differences (Dragon Mage much more emphasis on the Dragon part for example). The Dryad and Wood Elf also are very similar, where the Dryad had unique features with the blowpipe, the Wood Elf could turn the Bow into so much more than just that (multiple, exploding, homing arrows were pretty booming) As to the OP, I don't think S3 should be an MMO just yet. I think the most important thing is that the new company first starts to pick up sacred for what it is, and then move forward with that. If they'll make it an MMO right off the bat (Instead of Sacred 4 or 5?) chances are very high it may not feel like Sacred at all. I'd rather not take that risk if I had the choice, and stick with the foundation for now.
  5. Well it's good to know that "Not getting hit" avoids detrimental damage and effects. Would having high spell resistance (above 75 base of course) AND the antidote from Hallowed Restoration prevent ticks and effects from occurring? Like r00ster mentioned, you would still be hit by the detrimental damage and effect, but it would be so short that the damage expires before it can do it's first tick. On another note, what do you guys consider "god"? (Without the religional aspect of course) Depending on how you look at it, it doesn't necessarily have to be "Not taking any forms of damage at all". For an example, there are cheats in games that enable "godmode", you still take damage, but it never drops below 1 health. So you literally still cannot die. But, you are taking damage. So maybe "god" is more accurate to say "Able to take any forms of damage without the possibility of dying"? I know it's quite a useless kind of discussion, but I am wondering your points of view of the term "god" in games.
  6. Sorry for the really late reply. I talked with my colleague who has a masters degree related to graphics cards (I won't bore you with details): Apparently, more than one series of Gainward are plagued with this artifact system, but they all date from around the same time they shipped out of the factory. This behavior is stimulated - but not caused - by heating up. The warmer the card gets, the larger the chance this will occur. Some cards - by default - are suffering more from this than others, some people can play for hours with the identical computer set-up (Again, I won't bore you with the details). Before trying anything, especially before trying out beta or alternative drivers! (Which void warranty if trying drivers from a company that is not your factory's or NVidia's!) You should go back to the shop, and get yourself your money back or they give you a similar graphics card. That is, if you still have your warranty of course (You probably do). I really, really urge you to try and get a new card rather than trying to fix this one.
  7. Hello, I don't know if this has been in perspective yet, and I don't know if this is true, but it seems to be a likely theory: 1.) A mob's ranged attack causes a detrimental effect AND/OR chance to stun/freeze etc. 2.) You have 50% chance to avoid ranged projectiles. Would this mean you have a 50% chance to avoid getting hit by the detrimental effect AND/OR chance to stun/freeze etc.? If yes: 3.) You also have a 50% chance to reflect the projectile back to the attacker. 4.) Your defense rating is high enough that half of his hits will not hit. (On top of Point #2). Now I suck at calculating these, but would this mean 87.5% chance to not get affected by detrimental effects AND/OR chances to stun/freeze etc.? This seems to be a rather logical assumption does it not? If I have a club right here, and I smack your head with it, you will get a concussion right? So if you somehow reflect it back to me, *I* would get that concussion, and if you avoid it, OBVIOUSLY, you wouldn't get a concussion from the club right? Then, from points #1 to #4, these numbers can be much higher (And chance to block etc etc). Yet without -detrimental effects and -stun/freeze etc, you still get hit by detrimental effects AND/OR chance to stun/freeze very often without protection. Where do I go wrong? Is it a designflaw in Sacred? Because, fact is, with an insane amount of ranged attack *any* avoidance, you still get hit by detrimental effects AND/OR chance to stun/freeze etc. from those very same ranged attack you just dodged. I hope I was able to put this a bit into perspective. P.S. It also doesn't make ANY sense, that if I hit you with a club while you have a 100% damage absorption shield AND reduces all damage to 0 (So even the shield takes no damage) you still get a concussion magically.........
  8. Haha, thanks, there's a lot to catch up with! And of course, I wish to be part of the community.
  9. Heya and welcome to the forums! First off, aside from the in-game options menu, there's more to edit than just that located in "c:\Users\<your name>\AppData\Local\Ascaron Entertainment\Sacred 2\options.txt" or optionscustom.txt. If you don't have an optionscustom.txt, copy paste the options.txt into the same folder and rename it to optionscustom.txt (Alternatively, you can delete options.txt and start up the game, this will make it create both an options.txt and an optionscustom.txt.) It is highly recommended to edit the optionscustom.txt. If you did anything wrong or the computer can't handle the options you set in there, then it will read the default values from options.txt. Now to answer your question: 1.) Anti-aliasing. The larger the resolution of the game, the less noticable this will be. However, even still with our current "HD" resolutions (1920x1080) the difference between X0 (off) and X2 is pretty big. X4 is less noticable and X8 much moreso. Each multiplier also has a much more punishing effect on your graphics card. Depending on your card, preference and resolution, have it to X0 (Off) or X2. 2.) PhysX. Only works with an NVidia card in the range of 8800 or higher. Beautiful "graphics", but cripples mid-range cards. Recommendation OFF. 3.) Grass distance. Helps with immersion, but the ground textures themselves are not too bad. This and grass seems to have a reasonably high performance hit on medium graphics cards. Recommended to set it lower than maximum, depending on your taste. (50-80% depending on your "mid range" card) 4.) Fog and Glow. Optional effects, effects that you won't miss if they're not there anyway. Off and off. (Glow can actually be bad for graphics rather than good, as it can obscure a lot of nice environments.) 5.) Texture quality. This one is hard, depending on your mid-range card, the difference between low or medium, or even high may not have any performance impact at all. I suggest you would try to see. Please note that there's a difference between ground/object quality and player quality. If I had to choose, I'd rather take high environment quality over player quality (You get bored of seeing your own equipment, but walking into new area's all the time is refreshing) 6.) Shadows. Big impact, but helps a lot graphically. I suggest you keep it at least on, but at lowest settings, that way you still get quite a lot of "Bang for buck". 7.) Trees and water. Both help for immersion and both do not always have to be rendered. When in a cave, sometimes there are trees and there's water, but not lots of it and thus do not have a great impact. Also know that this game uses "Speedtree" trees. These are trees made by a specialist company that makes in-game trees (I kid you not!) that look both visually great AND barely suffers any impact on performance. Keep on the trees, but if possible, remove reflection on water (Maybe someone else can tell you how to do this). Maybe it's "d_water = 1," to 0, but I'm not sure. There are still quite a lot of other options available, but I do not know which make an impact on either, or both, visuals and/or performance. So I will not give advice on that.
  10. Well I never tried to put in a lot of writing but things you could consider is what the temple looks like compared to real life references, what the temple is surrounded by, what it's in-game culture is (Made by humans, high elves? does it have any refence to T-Energy like those pipelines in Thylysium?). There's a house near the temple, maybe that could indicate that the creator of the temple actually lived there? Speculation on the wiki is very interesting to read, even if it is just that, speculation. P.S. Yeah that page on Thylysium is pretty well written and easy to read on the eyes!
  11. Yeah this is probably my issue, I tend to start back from scratch rather before I even get into gold (Actually, I haven't ever reached Niobium). I guess I'll have to try to stick to it and get to niob sometime and see what experience I can get from that. Those numbers are sick by the way, champions still taking 2 hits some times at those levels. My current build will be an Area of Effect build, it's going fine now, but I'm afraid it might fail MASSIVELY after reading that post of yours. Doesn't bode well for me and my tactics
  12. So a level 150.0 (Exactly) Radiant pillar modded with Ordeal will always do double damage then? Or did I just interpret it wrong? If this is a fact, it may be one of the most powerful of all offensive Combat Arts, it would then just be a (very) late bloomer. Double damage + criticals would definitely add up a lot! If you're interested in testing it, go ahead. I'll make sure I do test it in somewhere between now and 24 hours (Depending on how addicted I am to Sacred 2).
  13. I've done some edits, I hope you guys don't mind! I tried my best making this as easy on the eyes as I could (In this post), if you have any suggestions, please let me know! Seraphim CA Hallowed Restoration: Mod(s): Changed: No longer heals 20 HP/s + 40 HP/s per CA level with the bronze recuperation mod. I do not know the exact number, but 20 + 10 is much more accurate (But still not dead-on) Usage Strategies: Changed: No longer implies that the player is "indestructible" while this CA is up, as it's been balanced and counters have been added for mobs against it (Some bosses and champions have the ability to remove the regeneration buff) Pro(s): Changed: "*When modded for Recuperation, allows for near invulnerable characters" Into: "*When modded with Recuperation, may void the necessity to use health potions" Con(s): Added: "*Certain bosses and champions have the ability to remove the Recuperation buff effect" Stats Chart: Changed: "*Duration (for '''Recuperation'''?) is 10 seconds." Into: "*Duration of all modded temporary effects is 10 seconds." To better reflect that all three temporary effects (Recuperation, Prevention and Antidote) have a 10 second duration, not just Recuperation. Seraphim CA Radiant Pillar: Mods: Changed: Ordeal (Gold mod) calculation is incorrect, it is definitely not 25% + 0.5% per CA level, according to various in-game tests. I changed it to + 0.?%, for lack of knowledge. (I think it's better to let people know it's unknown rather than give them a false sense of knowledge, feel free to change of course) Usage Strategies: Changed: Fixed a typo "Baneful Smile" into "Baneful Smite". However, a funny typo! (Pun intended) Well that's it for now, nothing major at all, I'll stick to the "Walking a thousand miles begins with a single step" quote
  14. Thanks for the very detailed evaluation r00ster, a lot if this I already found in other of your threads, so while I thank you, please know that you shouldn't feel that all your explanations prior to this one fell on deaf ears! One of the problems I encountered, is that I avoided the ice elementals ranged attack (no damage counter was shown, no health subtracted) but I STILL received the slowing effect. http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php5/Sacre...vine_Protection Mirror = immune to spells (This is an absolute right?) http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php5/Sacred_2:Battle_Stance Massive chance to avoid stuff, but no guarantee http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php5/Sacre...vine_Protection + http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php5/Sacred_2:Warding_Energy MASSIVE damage reduction, spell reflect and ranged reflect, but temporary. (I have yet to receive any damage from anything with both of these up, but only level 35 vs 50 mobs atm, silver) If I interpreted it correctly (I probably didn't ) avoiding attacks means I avoid detrimental effects. What about 100% shield absorption, will it absorb the effects? I mean literally damage mitigation, not whether damage is shared between shield and hp.
  15. Thanks Antitrust, I read all that and still questions remain though. So you are saying those freeze attacks come from melee and ranged attacks. So dodging/blocking/reflecting those attacks, would mean I'd dodge/block/reflect the detrimental effect as well? The trap issue is also still there, ah so many questions
