  1. The dog kinda reminded me more of the pup from Full Metal Alchemist (take your pick - the pooch is in both). Tho I do see your point - the dog does look like it could be some sort of Welsh Corgi... Thinking Blake is likely part feline - hence her distaste for things canine..

    Onto today's all new episode.

Seems Ruby and company are a bit perturbed by their guide... Not exactly what they maybe had in mind... But as always, Monty slips in some good humor based on the word Tussle. "Like the mushroom? Those are Truffles Sprouts? No Those are Brussels." LOL

Great battle scenes..! Love how the professor let's the team take the monsters down while sitting in the background. Wonder why he didn't ask Ruby the question he asked everyone else..

  2. Hmmm Episode 8 is up... And Ruby didn't catch hell for blasting around in the computer room... In fact, she got high praise for her actions.

Gotta love their mail system though - Gives the term "If it fits, it ships" a whole new meaning. LOL.

Seems Weiss has a thing for dogs - but Blake, eh.. not so much.

  3. LOL I dunno. It WAS different.. The bits with Riker Junior and his cronies was ok.. The last bit tho.. meh.. Wasn't that impressed.

TBH, tho, if Monty had THAT much free time on his hands to animate those, you'd think he could have done more series based content..

  4. That and it's Cinder's way of disguising herself.. She IS, after all, undercover.Would NOT be good for her to use her full on powers as Ruby would have recognized her (remember, Ruby and Cinder already fought back in the 1st episode from Season 1.. It's what got her to Beacon early.

It also helped get Ruby set up for some trouble as she disappeared into the dark, leaving Ruby having to Splain herself..

  5. Episode 7 is up and available for everyone!

It's called "Dance Dance Infiltration" - another spoof of that arcade game, Dance Dance Revolution...

Interesting developments. Amazingly Jaune does the right thing... Tho... Gotta worry about the boy.. Seems he's got some rather odd tastes in clothing...

Speaking of oddities.. Interesting how the music changes... It's supposed to be a formal dance - ballroom style - but at one point, the music shifts to 70s style disco but later on it's back to ballroom. Makes no sense. Except for the hilarity of what's going on during the disco scene..

Later on in the episode... Seems Monty's got himself a fondness for Voltron.. Ruby's got herself a weapon's delivery system that would make Lotor proud... And she's got an app for that!

  6. In this latest episode... you know your love life sucks when Nora starts making sense, and your life sucks when Yang is the rational one. :P Not really a revelation, but still, Yang and Ruby, sisters from a different mother. :P

Poor Pyrrah... Feel sorry for the girl especially after overhearing Jaune pouring his heart out about Weiss.

But I can see the method in the madness.. The sooner she shoots him down, the sooner maybe he might get over her and she can pick him up on he rebound.. :4rofl:

And yes, quite scary actually when Nora is the one making sense..

Never quite thought of Yang as being irrational. Definitely someone who likes to fight... But crazy? Nah.

BTW.... No RWBY this NEXT week. Hopefully, there'll be one of those inside look episodes

  7.

As such, Sacred 4 is likely to never see the light of day. There's no justification in a sequel to the sequel because the current game isn't going to sell very well.

Probably not. And very carefully siad, hopefully not. Not if it'd be done in at all the same fashion.

And yet Two Worlds, an utterly craptacular game was followed by a sequel which was so much of an improvement over the first that for anyone who'd played both the only and most polite response was, "Are you sure you're the SAME company? Are you sure?"

    Amen! No Sacred 4!

LOL, But that IS the way it should be. The 2nd game should be better than the first.

1.) First game is a weak attempt by programmers to write something.

2.) Should they make any money, the company can afford a better class of programmer either by hiring them or sending the already existing staff to school to learn how to program better.

  8. Unless its been fixed, I don't think you can get the 100 dungeon achievement... (I haven't played for 4 years, so maybe its been fixed). I used to go mad and try to find everything on the map so its kind of strange I never got that one.

I have all the achievements except the online ones since I always played offline, and perhaps a few of the ones relating to getting certain classes past level 15. Currently on 890 points.

I only seem to be able to play Shadow warrior, I should try to branch out but all my gear I had accumulated is mainly for shadow warriors. I have tried them all but seem to return to SW.

Actually... The 100 dungeon achievement is VERY easy to do.

ALL you need to do is enter/exit ONE cave 100 times. You don't have to find 100 caves to spelunk. Just one. OK.. It's sorta cheating but it does work.

Also going into a multi-level dungeon, then going into the 2nd level and then going back up and out yields the best results. You get 1 point toward that achievement each time you cross a threshold to the next level up or down. So, if you go into say, the Orc cave where you need to find out who has the right hand of the old warrior - and you find he has both hands, that quest alone gives you 6 points toward that goal.

The problem most everyone has with getting this achievement - if you save and exit your game, it wipes out ALL of your progress. You MUST do all 100 entries in ONE session..

As far as the Master Cartographer achievement.. That one requires walking a very, very fine line. It's possible I've done it in Bronze. It means NOT deviating from the main quest line. No blue quests.. No side quests. Just the main quest chain. Also helps to be familiar with the map and know where things are. That way, you're not going off on tangents.

  9.

    Did someone say 'pictures'?

Yes... I'm looking for some illustrations of Shelob and Failitia for the log:

    For Shelob like http://danielgovar.com/tolkien/shelob-2/

For Failitia (http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred_2:Failitia,_Dreamweaver_of_the_Gods) should be like the seraphim from Sacred 1, like http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php/Sacred:Dream_Netting_of_the_Gods -> http://www.sacred-legends.de/images/wallpaper/Seraphim_1024x768.jpg, wthout halberd, with sword

    See http://www.frankrentmeister.info/mantisbt/view.php?id=1105 as well.

The file format (TGA) is a little tricky.

Put "shelob.tga" and "Dreamweaver.tga" into the folder pak\data\icons\pixmap to see them in the log at their quests.

    CU Marcus

Marcus - if you need, I can convert most any type of file into a TGA file. Let me know if you need that..

  10. Today, I stopped by a small Mexican eatery I went to once before and really liked their food. They had a new special!

They call it Nacho Fries. But looking at the picture it looked more like a poutine.

    1.) Fries. check

    2.) Cheese... Check

    3.) Meaty sauce.. Check

If it walks like a poutine, smells like poutine... It's Poutine.

    Here's how they do it:

    1. layer some triangular chips on the bottom of a 9x9 foam container.

    2. pile on some refried beans.

    3. pile on your choice of meats. I went with green chile verde pork.

    4. pile on the fries.

    5. smother with warm nacho cheese sauce.

    6. top with sour cream and guacamole

    7. add the coup de grace - chopped onions, chopped cilantro (coriander leaf) and chopped tomato.

    Enjoy...!

  11. Here is my two cents to this. The devs or whoever did a survey and asked what people wanted in the game the most. They got there feedback and made what people wanted. The thing though is most of those people who responded probably never played a second of sacred to begin with. They didn't listen to a single peep of a true player of sacred.

The damage is done to the franchise and the real player base of it. The ONLY fix is to make sacred 4 the right way of which should have been sacred 3.

As for me I don't like it as it seems to play to much off of LoL and the others instead of what makes sacred, well sacred. The one thing I did like is they kept the seraphim and black seraphim in the mix.

That makes no sense what so ever. If they did a survey - WHO exactly did they bother asking? It certainly wasn't anyone in the community already established. You'd think DarkMatters is well known enough to Deep Silver as a place to advertise such a survey posted on their board (which, btw, I have yet to see posted there). In addition, you'd think they'd send an email to all the people who are registered on their forums. Heck, if they can send an email birthday card, they could spam their list once asking for input on what we want to see in Sacred 3.

Secondly, let's look at Sacred 3.. Instead of a lush, open world that you can roam endlessly, we got a linear brawler type game. Somehow, I just don't see anyone in this day and age asking for something like this. Not the fans of Sacred, nor gamers in general... I just don't see anyone saying "Gee.. I'm burned out on all these large, oversized worlds.. Gimme something old skool simpler." There might be a few people out there who crave that kind of thing, but overall I don't think there are that many.

That said, I somehow doubt seriously that Deep Silver's execs are stupid. Well... Let me clarify that. They're NOT entirely braindead to think that a linear game would be something we, the fans would want. Not after Sacred 1 and 2 gave us the whole open world experience.

So the idea of a survey is out. Why would they do a survey and NOT ask the fans - the one group of people almost guaranteed to buy the game - what they wanted to see?

If anything, Deep Silver has been going out of their way to guarantee Sacred 3 becomes a flop. The bean counters green-lighted a craptastic game that no one wants. They continued down this disastrous path even with an overwhelming TON of negative feedback when they gave people a tiny glimpse into what the game was going to be. They knew it would be a flop and did NOTHING about it.

As such, Sacred 4 is likely to never see the light of day. There's no justification in a sequel to the sequel because the current game isn't going to sell very well.

  12. I'd say the Diablo 3 release on consoles was a convenient coincidence...

Then again, after watching WAAAAAAY too many cop shows, there's no such thing as a coincidence..

I'm fairly certain that Blizzard made the release date for D3 on Console known early enough - and DS no doubt announced their release to be about the same time - so they could pull this sort of stunt.

  13. Couple of thoughts. Blake is queen of melodrama. And WHAT THE <censored> DO YOU SEE IN JAUNE, PYRRHA!?!?!

Better question: What the heck does he see in Weiss? I dunno. Maybe it's just me, but I find Pyrrah to be LOTS more interestingly drawn. She got some serious cleavage going on. Weiss strikes me as er.. underdeveloped... OK. I'll say it.. She's a pirate's dream.. A sunken chest. :4rofl: Gonna go out on a limb - he's fixated on her because she's so inaccessible.

Blake... There's a word for what she's doing.. OBSESSION...

And WHAT THE <censored> DO YOU SEE IN JAUNE, PYRRHA!?!

The aura. It's all in the aura ;)

Yeh.. But I think there's more. I think she actually LIKES him. Get the feeling that she's investing all that time and effort into him cause she's got long term plans for the guy.

  14. Episode 5 of season 2 is now out! YAY..

The episode is a bit of filler... Mostly features Pyrrah kicking butt on her classmates.. Which, of course, is what she does best. Seems there's a big dance planned for next week's episode.

  15. I maybe wouldn't quite go so far as to say "criminal" but perhaps dishonest... Douchey, for sure.

I doubt that DS would do anything that would blatantly violate the various laws out there. That wouldn't be a good thing if they had to go to jail for something as lame as that.

It's not exactly fraud. They delivered a game - OK. A sucky game, but a game, never the less. That it didn't live up to the franchise's legacy, well, it's not written anywhere they HAD to do so. They just had to deliver a product - which they actually did.

  16. I've just editted - or is it addited? ;) - my post with song-titles to contain all the titles and band- / artistnames I used for those quotes.

    I got a few more to add;

"Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls; welcome to the Twilight Zone" ( Barry Hay's opening of the Golden Earring song "Twilight Zone" while recording the "Naked Truth"-concert at Café "De Kroon.")

"For whom the bells tolled? For me!" (For whom the bells toll, by Metallica) (I believe there was a Sacred 2 grave having a similar quote)

"Is this the road to hell? (Road to Hell, by Chris Rea)

"This is the highway to hell for sure." (Highway to hell, by AC/DC)

NOTE: If anyone with strong religious believes is having problems with the last two quotes, let me know by PM and I'll remove them.

    Thorin :)

re: For whom the bell tolls..

Metallica indeed used that line - tho they weren't the first or only one to do so. It's quite a common quote. The origins are commonly attributed to Ernest Hemmingway - even if it's incorrect. The correct source is a guy named John Donne from waaay back in 1624...

  17. Welcome to DarkMatters...!

Yeah... The game can do that every so often. There are some other similar things that can happen. Like when you need to kill say, 10 of something, collect 10 {insert organ of choice here}, Sometimes only 9 items drop. Save your game, exit to Windows, restart the game and there's the last item in question at your feet.

Not much that can be done about it. Save the game, exit completely and restart.

  18. Whoa, the Angry French Canadian looks a little like the Fatso's Breakfast Sub they make down at the local carnival. They french toast a big sub, but the maple syrup is put on the inside. They fill it with garlic fries, chili, and mozzarella sticks. They don't use a hot dog, they use the grey Stadium brats (the ones that taste like breakfast sausage), they use a pancake instead of a bun, then they wrap the pancake with bacon. The lunch one has shrimp instead of chili and instead of the Stadium brats, they use lamb and they're no maple syrup, but they still french toast the sub. The breakfast ones are good, but the lamb ones don't sell. I don't know why they won't make just a nice gyro for lunch.

    That actually sounds pretty good

anyone dared to take a photo of their eats?

    :)

    gogo

I'm with Gogo on this.. The lamb one sounds quite good actually...

Either way - these sandwiches have FRESH, HOT fries on them - am I right? Nothing wrong with that.

  19.

Just had a look at the map.. Er.. Is it just me... Or does the east coast of the game world look quite a bit like the east coast of the USA?

When I look at Tolkien’s map of Middle-earth I see Turkey

Neverwinter Nights 2 sword coast -> North American west coast

Game of Thrones world –> Britain

At least it’s not a lazy upside down Europe like in Drakengard

Now, please, can somebody explain to me what this is? An oversize truck ornament? Should we be censoring it?

    whatisthis.png

My guess would be a cave of some sort. IIRC, the original Sacred map had stuff like that - something to the west of the goblin lawn.
