  1. Latest Real Life project that I think I have finished with, at least as far as I know, is our home... This is what the basic flat looks like. I did not take pictures of exactly what my flat looked like before we started... but they are all the same basically, some of the photos are flats that are currently in the market, it might just be a mirror image of mine. Those photos are all from Property24, and is a good example of what the basic flat looks like. This is what the outside and Patio looked like when I just moved in, these are photos that I took to apply for the closing of the patio. First I took the sliding door out and replaced it with framed stacking doors that we always keep open. the last picture is just the difference when we watered the grass a bit... What I have done since I have moved in is painted the walls a new light grey colour, installed new lights, New kitchen cupboards including a spice rack and extended the counter, and added more drawers, added an Inverter and battery that helps with Loadshedding (a truly South African experience where our energy supplier "Eskom" switches off the power on a schedule, for about 2,5 to sometimes 4 hours... because they did not do maintenance and let our power stations go down the drain, now they can't supply the county with enough electricity.), added small cupboards above the doors in the bedrooms, put new bathroom cabinets in, as well as extra towel rails, extended the Patio roof and enclosed the patio with glass stacking doors, added a ceiling below the extended patio, did laminate flooring to cover the broken tiles on the patio, added a new cupboard in an alcove/useless nook (where the microwave now stands), installed a wine rack that can hold 395 bottles, mounted the TV on the wall, Installed shelves in the enclosed patio area, which we now call the dining room, we also redid the garden, at first we just started by watering it a little, and getting the grass to grow and become green... and then I got a landscaping company to extend the bedding, install a watering system, add 2 new bedding's and put a border around the garden beds. The Bedrooms got retractable ceiling fans with new lights, and 3 HALO lights in the living room and dining room. I think for now, we are done....
  2. No. The table belongs to the Estate. They have 5 big tables, and benches, some couches and a drink/bar counter. It is a cellar, so all artificial lights. But we moved the tables into 2 long tables, and moved the couches into a corner for a comfortable seating nook away from the main table. And the bar was next to the entrance. The platters/boards are all mine One of the trustees is also a wine enthusiast, and organises wine appreciation evenings throughout the year that gets hosted in the cellar. Different wine farms are invited to do tastings with people and talk about their farm(s) and wine. Most also then have a special on one or some of their wines for the evening, and they deliver to the estate. You.can just pick up your wine later in the day. That is how we got to taste Stettyn wines and Flagstone wines. Both farms thst we have now visited and bought more wine from.
  3. Air -> Avatar Aang. Can NOT wait any longer for the Last Airbender to come out on Netflix... I hope it is good!?!
  4. I am not the biggest fan of offal, but in the right dish or cooked well, I will eat it.
  5. I have a pretty strong stomach... South Africans also eat foods that other countries find strange. And I like eating local cuisines.
  6. Universal -> Studios https://youtu.be/PvKiWRTSAzg?si=6aFyIdbJukssvLga
  7. Congratulations Timo. Hope the mother and the baby are both doing well. And you? Getting enough propper sleep?
  8. Agreed. You have spoken so much about your home and the area you live in... we want to see what it looks like!
  9. Welcome to DarkMatters. Hope you find many wonderful years here like I have. Gogo, might I ferment the juice and make wine with it...? I prefer red wine over fruit juice, unless it is in a cocktail...
  10. Weather is still hot here. sunshine and clear skies. Most afternoons and evenings we at least have winds that cool the day down. I took these pictures quickly now in the garden, Lord Piper Purrington could not decide where he wanted to lie down...
  11. I celebrated my 36th Birthday a week or two ago... I kept it simple and just invited a few friends over on the Monday after my Bday, cause my BF and I where both working on the Sunday, for a nice relaxed evening at the estate venue that we are allowed to rent out, I made a few cheese and charcuterie boards, had some fresh bread and crackers, nuts, fresh fruit, dried fruits and a few horse de oeuvres, and I ordered a few Pizza's from the estate restaurant. we should have been around 22 guests, but I got a few last minute cancellations (my one friend is a Forensic Anthropologist and she got called out to a crime scene where human remains where found.) so we ended up at around 16 guests, way less than I had prepared for. I took 18 bottles of wine with, and only brought 4 back so I don't think we did to badly. And when Gina, arrived, she brought another cake and more fresh fruit platters. We sat around, talking, telling jokes and eating till we felt happy. Over all I think everyone had a wonderful evening.
  12. Hot, Sunshine days, with cooling evening winds most days. this is the weather I prefer. Yesterday we had a bit of an overcast day, and it helped cool down the intense heat slightly, but today was back to FULL SUNSHINE BABY!
  13. Terrys Orange -> Regional I am Guessing it is a regional Name/Brand? I have never heard of it before, or seen it mentioned in any media, although now with a quick google search, two well know supermarkets seem to stock some, and Takealot, the SA version of Amazon, seems to stock it...
  14. Happy Belated new year to everyone! I know I am very late, But I enjoyed my last few days of being off and stayed busy reading, playing lots of games, cooking, gardening, and spending as much time with my boyfriend going for wine tastings and seeing friends before I start my new job on Wednesday 10th Jan. Hope everyone has a very successful year ahead!
  15. We hosted a food and wine pairing evening with some friends a few weeks ago, Two of them, Anri and Samantha are also Chefs, Anri trained with my Boyfriend at the same chefs school, Anri's sister Jonel and her Husband Eric (he is assistant wine maker on Cavalli wine estate (Where I am going to be working soon). Once again, I did not take pictures, I was cooking and plating the food, but I can show you the menu that we printed. I did a bread course with a welcome drink, a 3 course meal, each course paired with wine (2 white wines with Starters, 2 red wines with Mains, 1 with Dessert and Friandise) It was a lovely evening and everyone enjoyed it a lot, it was a lot of work for me, Ivan still had to go and work for a couple of hours the morning, he then came home, set the table and helped me prep where I needed him, made sure the wine are the right temperatures etc and then we had a lovely meal with friends.
