  1. haven't had other contact with dark so far if I exclude some pms exchanged with Ike when he managed to rescue some df stranded in an open space 3 seconds after it was created (2s before my own recyclers arrived). he has lanxed gintu's incoming 1667 (from far away) and launched on time ... what I got from him later on was his recipe for building up moons.

Hmmm, gosh, not sure if I even recall such an event, were it to have actually happened . . . and it was less than 3 seconds BTW. :drinks: I don't think I realized it was Gintukas that sent the LF though. Huh. Perhaps if I had realized that I would not have allegedly nipped the DF. :drunkards:

  2. Hey Ari, sad to see you sucked back in . . . like I was . . . twice. :D But now I am free again, for good this time. GoGo, Master of the Nuts, Cyclops, and Llama also shook off their oGame shackles lately. Mika del Siro offered me a Top-100 account yesterday, so perhaps he would give it to you if you were interested and asked nicely, or batted you eye-lashes. ;)

  3. And so it ends. Not at all as planned, and therefore, it was as expected. :D I sent 55 RIPs to my colony next to Spanky's moon last week and he phalanxed them. He was very active over the weekend, so I was not able to try again until yesterday. He was offline most of the day, so I sent RIPs on an 11-hour journey and meanwhile sent the rest of my fleet to the planet quickly and then deployed back to my moon and then recalled. In all, four fleets were to arrive within 2 seconds and two more fleets a minute and change later with the recyclers and some cargos. He came online with a few hours to go and did not launch. D'oh!

So I watched and waited. Saw activity on all of his planets and then silence, 15 minutes before the reset, no activity anywhere. I got a window of a little over an hour on his fleet, presumably leaving from G3 moon to its own DF. However, the DF disappeared at an odd time that did not match up right. I launched 18 rips in six waves on a moon destruction mission with the thought that if his fleet returned I could recall them to all return at the same time and meanwhile deploy the fleet back to my moon and then recall again. However, I took a nap for an hour and 10 minutes and in that time, his fleet apparently returned, he came online, and crashed me. Just kinda figures the way things have gone in the past. I put out a call to D.a.r.k. and PAWNZ about recs and Slithle was the only one close enough and fast enough. If Spanky had turned his recs around quickly, he would have gotten the whole DF. Too bad for him.

Planets, moons, and fleets deleted. Except for the 18 RIPs Spanky did not bother to phalanx. Those are on 10-day moon destruction missions to Spanky's G1 and G5 moons. :)

It has been a lot of fun hanging with you all. As I have made clear of late, this is what I wanted, although not exactly in this manner. It is time to leave oGame. Thanks especially to GoGo for the account. Sorry it did not turn out exactly as planned, but it was a lot of fun while it lasted. :P

The attacker lost a total of 383,448,000 units.

The defender lost a total of 1,434,006,000 units.

At these space coordinates now float 342,574,800 metal and 202,661,400 crystal.

The enormous amounts of free metal and crystal draw together and form a moon around the planet.

    Recyclers (Slithle):

Your 4947 Recyclers have a total capacity of 96,940,000.

At the target, 182,414,800 metal and 42,502,300 crystal are floating in space.

You have harvested 54,437,700 metal and 42,502,300 crystal.

In addition, I harvested 6 recs worth out of spite. Didn't want him to get the entire DF in case Slithle was late. ;)

  4. Well this has been a loooong time coming. After taking out his G8 moon and one of his G1 moons, I setup a colony and got a moon in G2. I sent 42 waves of RIPs in all, even side-tracking to take out his G7 moon in the meantime. Finally, the 41st wave did its work. Overall, I had better than a 99% chance to blow up this rather RIP-resistant moon. Finally, it is done.

I sent six waves this time, alternating between two RIPs and one RIP. The RIPs had a 7% (1) or 9.9% (2) chance. Overall for the six waves there was a 41% chance to blow up the moon. After horrible luck on the first six times six attempts, this last batch of six lost no RIPs and destroyed the moon. :butcher:

  8. "Like with like" generally refers to grouping things or sets of things that are similar. So to put your fruit like with like, you would group apples with apples, bananas with bananas, and oranges with oranges. [Or perhaps citrus fruit together, apples together, and bananas/plantains together.]

As a side note, ideationally isn't really a word. To the extent that it is, it is not in common usage. I would replace: "structurally and perhaps ideationally" with "in terms of structure, and perhaps ideas." They may actually mean 'ideals' instead of ideas as well. Hard to say.

  10. Given Spanky's lethargy of late, I decided to see what would happen if I went after his G7 moon. It is much smaller than the others (4898) and has no JG. So I launched the RIPs yesterday night on a 23-hour one-way odyssey across 212 SS. They arrived after the Spankster normally goes to bed, so I figured they'd be pretty safe. In addition, as his fleet is all on one moon, with 2.5 MM deuterium, and his closest JG is now two galaxies away, it seemed unlikely he'd bother to try to save it. So I watched his fleet moon and Main throughout the day and occasionally probed to make sure his fleet was still intact. No movement.

I sent five waves of one RIP each. Each wave had a 31% chance to blow up the moon and a 34% chance of being destroyed. Overall, an 84% chance to take out the moon. A little better luck on this one, getting the average, 1 RIP lost, Moon gone after three attempts. The really strange thing, two hours after the moon blew, all of my RIPs returned to the moon . . . 21 hours early. :P

    EDIT: Fixed title.

  11. RIPs returned, I sent them on FS, and after Spanky went to beddy-bye I re-launched. I only had 16 handy as it takes more than 24 hours to send them across a galaxy, so more will be there for tomorrow. Still, overall a 52.79% chance to kill the moon on this pass and 81% between this and yesterday's hits. :) These were sent kinda late, so due to RL commitments, I may not be able to resend tomorrow. I'll need to send slowly and earlier. Tricky. Meanwhile, I have five waves of 1 RIP each heading to his G7 moon, which has no JG. :)

Well, another 6 RIPs gone, 14 total lost against this moon.

    Wave 1

Your fleet from Moon MyRIPsvsYour (Moon) [2:236:7] arrived at the moon of the planet on [2:236:6] of The Hills Have Eyes. The structure of the moon was not sufficiently weakened, and the fleet is returning to its home planet.

Moon destruction chance: 9.89949493661%, DS destruction chance: 46%

    Wave 2

Your fleet from Moon MyRIPsvsYour (Moon) [2:236:7] arrived at the moon of the planet on [2:236:6] of The Hills Have Eyes. Your deathstar aims its alternating graviton shock cannon at the satellite. Light quakes shake the surface of the moon. But something is wrong. The graviton cannon causes the deathstar to vibrate. There is feedback. The deathstar ruptures into millions of pieces. The resulting shock waves destroy your entire fleet.

Moon destruction chance: 12.124355653% DS destruction chance: 46%

    Wave 3

Your fleet from Moon MyRIPsvsYour (Moon) [2:236:7] arrived at the moon of the planet on [2:236:6] of The Hills Have Eyes. The structure of the moon was not sufficiently weakened, and the fleet is returning to its home planet.

    Wave 4

Your fleet from Moon MyRIPsvsYour (Moon) [2:236:7] arrived at the moon of the planet on [2:236:6] of The Hills Have Eyes. The structure of the moon was not sufficiently weakened, and the fleet is returning to its home planet.

  12. Well, the second my RIPs returned from destroying Spanky's G1 moon I sent them back to G3. I sent a colony ship to 2:236:7 to arrive 5 minutes after my RIPs returned. When the RIPs got back, I blew the 1:234:14 planet/moon. Once the new planet was in place, I sent cruisers, recs, and cargos in one wave and RIPs in a second wave. After the RIPs arrived Lord Tiago succeeded in getting me a moon (4th attempt) and I moved the RIPs to the moon. I then did a short FS, watched Spanky and as planned, he visited all of his planets around 22:30 and never returned. When my RIPs returned I sent six waves of four RIPs. Each wave had a 14% chance to destroy the moon and a 46% chance of being destroyed. Sadly, two waves were destroyed and the moon survived. :drinks:

  13. If your Visa is granted, how long would you have in order to use it? Would it make more sense to wait a couple of weeks and then put in your notice? That way, if the Visa is granted after one month, you have a couple of weeks in your current job. If it is not granted for two months, you are only short a couple of weeks and may, as Gial notes, be able to extend your employment by a little. I also agree that discussing the situation with your boss (depending on your relationship) is probably best. Amazing how much latitude you can get when you and your boss are working together.

  14. I was scanning the area looking for something to crash, preferably with Crystal or Deuterium-a-plenty. I saw this fleet sitting on a moon. I checked his Main and there was a *. "Grrrrrr," I thought. But I did a quick SIM to see how many BCs and recs I would need and jumped some fleet and recs. I tried to launch recs, but no DF. I did not want to probe/attack-probe for fear of alerting him if he was online. But after about 10-15 minutes I checked and there was a 15 min on his Main. So I launched BC and three waves of cargos . . . then got lagged for about 5 minutes . . . and launched two more waves of cargos and my recs.

I watched, but no more activity. Fleet hit, three waves of cargos hit, and then he came online and removed the last 200K of deuterium and 50K of crystal. Fortunately, he did not try to build recs and grab the DF. He sent a note that his dog had just attacked their backroom. :) Good boy, Rover! I wish Rayden GLOTR.
