  1. Oh yes, the good old times Gogo, I do remember that top 10: took me a while to write it, along with tons of considerations and perusing a ton of wiki pages and such... But it was so much fun writing it.
  2. Nostalgia hit... Have been fooling around with Sacred 2 during the past few days, and I got a big nostalgia hit... Just thought I would vent it off here for a bit... Why Sacred 2 was a great game? Watch the intro closely. Looks great, doesn't it? Now imagine that: it doesn't even factor in 10% of the togetherness this game brought. Despite its glitches, it was fun and addicting as hell - and kudos to the devs: even though the game was dying, they left the servers on for as long as they could, and I can tell you: even within the dying days of the MP, we could still gather a 12 man server, just to trash everything one last time. This group of people really drove the game forward: - Gogoblender, the Dryad lover, and the part-time Treehugger - Schot and his High Elf - Chrona (Inquisitor) and Dima (Dryad), two of the biggest levelers/grinders I have ever seen. I think they hit max level before anyone else. - RyanRocker and his Inquisitor - Knuckles and his passion for creating support characters to help everyone (I still have his shopper network) - Dragon Brother and his Inquisitor - WraithKing and his Shadow Warrior - chattius and his Dragon Mage - Flooxim and his Seraphim as well as people like Erling, r00ster, katran, Barristan, FrostElfGuard, claudius, Stephane, and all others I played with... And of course my favorite Seraphim builds: This: http://darkmatters.org/forums/index.php?/topic/17562-seraphim-build-for-advanced-sacred-2-players/ and this: http://darkmatters.org/forums/index.php?/topic/11988-a-comprehensive-guide-to-the-bfg-seraphim/ Vent over, thank you for reading.
  3. Mainly the reason why I bought a very decent Razor Sabertooth controller. It feels good, it works great for non-pc intended games and I like using it: http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-controllers/razer-sabertooth. here ya go
  4. Well, he does need that He sure has followers, but he is nowhere near the serious reviews that TotalBiscuit does. TB's reviews are concise, precise, and if he doesn't know something, he says so. He goes through all aspects of the game, including menu options before actually talking about the game. It sure is worth following his reviews, and he also makes steam sale short videos to tell the community what's worth buying and what's not.
  5. Man ahead of time, not really... I was biting my nails while waiting for every bit of info about S3 I could get my hands on... Everything I read and saw allowed me to form a very decent idea about this game is going to be. Granted, I had no reviewer demo or game codes the likes of Angry Joe and Total Biscuit get, but I already had the game in my mind. I can only quote the "Picture of you" song... "I had a picture of you in my mind, never knew it will be so wrong" Yeah, I still had hope. LOL.
  6. LMAO. I lost it on this. Anyway... looking at Joe's rinse and repeat, happily mixed up with "suffer falling blocks from sky in a tight corridor" gameplay, spruced up by 2 min long side quests, I am sure as hell that this game went down to the 10$ margin. I still maintain that the voice actor for Aria is cute, but they overdid it with the comments. Joe's comments were more fun. Like that voodoo totem gibberish or that judging part. Holy, hell, I was laughing my backside off when he did it. It is painfully clear that poor Keen Games didn't know what they were doing.
  7. Lol, off work now, and watching it and Joe says "it is a 15$ game". Stop repeating me people LOL.
  8. Well, I watched plenty of playthroughs of the game already, and nothing can change my opinion still... This is a max 15€/$ game. It has some pretty stages, but it also has some downright appalling ones. Side quest for 3 mins? Like kill 10 enemies and done? OMG. I expected this will be a rinse and repeat, but to this extent? Oh, boy, oh, boy... You finish the game in 10 hours max... and they promised 20. Can I facepalm now?
  9. I think his all time favorite game on console is Skyrim. He gave it a 10/10. On his last review he gave 10/10 to "The Last of Us", which I also think is a console game. I know he said once his all-time favorite game is the 1994 XCOM. I got used to watching his reviews, he likes games that I do. I never bought a game he rated highly and regretted it. Examples being Guild Wars 2, XCOM, Skyrim, Kingdoms of Amalur, and I also picked up Divinity: OS. I know he gave Sacred 2 a 7/10 after the bugfixing. Maybe thats what he remembers. He said at first he hated it, but then he got into it and thought the leveling was super-addicting, and it is a great game that doesn't take itself seriously. It is obvious he didn't do any research on this, but well... For a decent review, watch TotalBiscuit's S3 impressions. What I said in my youtube angry rant, he repeated and upgraded
  10. He even said it in bulgarian. well... GG. I will still buy the game, as soon as it hits the 10-15€ price. More? no.
  11. Me neither. Always liked Gambit. He was one of the underdeveloped x-men characters imo.
  12. Those lets plays were so enlightening. Make no mistake, I will buy the game when it goes down to 15-25 EUR. 15 preferable Those guys quite overdid it with the pricing policy. You either pop a 50 EUR game or you dont. SO many games chose a cheaper price.
  13. Double post warning. I had to do it, cause I found let's plays on youtube. If you like them, buy the game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TR-BitKJbgw And to make this post longer, I will add my pre-launch comment from my youtube Sacred 3 angry rant. Read at your own peril. It is quite simple really... Gamers nowadays became extremely forgiving. Many think that I overstate things in my rant. I guess people like button mashers more and more now. Hell, next thing we know, Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter will put a big red X on its dozens of years of legacy, and turn into an isometric 3D corridor button masher with an occasional "get over here!", and people will still sing their praises about it. I have compiled all the info I have on S3 which will unlock tomorrow for EU. Some of it may still be incorrect, but it is as follows: 1. 15-20 Hrs total, 15 main, 25 side quests. Everything's a corridor or a small open area. 2. Minimalistic RPG options: pick 2 skills per mission, level up to unlock new ones. 3. 2+1+Main+Dodge Attacks. 4. Competitive gameplay: points get you either bragging rights, or if there are leaderboards, it may mean that people will fight for points like crazy. 5. Voice over IP or similar built-in chat mechanic. 6. Forced 4-man missions, even if you play solo. In this case you get bots. Personal comments: - I will keep saying it: price does not merit what this game does. It is by no means better than other arcade-style button mashers over there. - no Magicka playstyle - people working together to chain attacks and help one another - which promoted friendship, togetherness, and tons of lols. - no Dynasty Warriors type attacks - and I thought DW8 is minimalistic, but at least you could chain attacks at your leisure: 1-1, 2-1, 2-2, 5-2, 4-1, etc., and it worked well. - RPG fans will feel hard done - you will gain levels, you will unlock skills, but the core RPG stuff that drove S1 & Sacred 2 forward, or any other decent RPG is no longer there. - Some fans will feel the lack of loot underwhelming - especially since getting a "reward" at the end is based on chance. Still possible to have scripted stuff that gives you a weapon or armor piece regardless of the outcome. - I sure hope the bots AI is decent, or you will scream at your PC and feel like kicking the hell out of it. - I sure hope the scoring system is decent, or people will learn where the most pts are and will always go for those areas. - If a mission hangs in the balance and you go save it at the cost of scoring less points, people will still get bragging rights and you will feel undervalued. - Some classes may play similarly: now I am not really sure if that's gonna be the case, it is a personal observation, but if true... It will be Sacred Citadel all over again. - EDIT: Is that "Sexey" commentary when you do something supposed to be cool?! Don't think it is. - EDIT: The Seraphim narrator is kinda out of place in my opinion. Some jokes are cute, the narrator's voice is cute, but the kind-arrgessive-whoops type of personality is giving no sense or urgency or impending doom. - EDIT: I am ok with games who don't take themselves seriously, and I guess S3 is one of them too. Or so it looks. All in all, I am still quite pessimistic. The let's plays will start soon, and I will check them out as well. Then again, with so little time till the game hits the shelves and reviewers kinda split in their opinions of the game, I am still not convinced that it is going to be a good one. Might be fun to button mash through it 1-2 times, but that hardly merits the 50€/USD price.
  14. I'm still a pessimist. On my youtube vid I had the opportunity to talk with a reviewer, and thanks to him not answering and/or evading, managed to get even more info... Well, so far this is what I know: - 15-20 Hrs gameplay if you go through every mission - Instanced quests, 15 main, 25 side, probably 20-30 mins each - Basic RPG mechanics, 2 selectable skills, no loot, chance for a simple drop, 2+1+Main+Dodge Attacks - If you're solo, you are forced into playing with 3 bots, so I hope they have good AI. Hope the drop-in and out is good too. - Competitive gameplay - I sure hope they thought this through well, cause if the players learn where the most pts are, it will be a disorganized mayhem filled with tons of button mashing - No magicka-like combos - I would rewally be sold on S3 if it featured something like that, as it would promote togetherness and friendship - Built-in voice chat The reviewer was quite evasive on what the game does better than other, and what it doesn't. He admitted it is hardly the best of its genre, but he thought it was a good game in his opinion. Thing is, Keen Games ask full price for it, so it should be judged against the best there are - and I personally, don't think that any of its aspects are stellar. Then again, my info is limited to all the stuff I gathered over the internet, so maybe I should wait and see. The game unlocks in a day for EU anyway, so the first let's play will most likely hit youtube in like 3 days.
  15. Yep... already vented about this on steam and youtube, so I'm not gonna do it here. I am so sad we wont get our good old open world Sacred game... was so looking forward to reconnecting with all of you. Was looking at the screenshots just yesterday, and boy I miss it
  16. Hey DB and to stay on topic... I found this video of a spanish game show doing S3 gameplay preview:
  17. Yeah... can't help but smile as I remember all our hardcore adventures with the likes of gogo, schot, barristan, dima, ryanrocker, antitrust, katran, claudius, chrona, frostelfguard, furian, chattius, furrian, and sheeesh, I am sure I am forgetting quite a few more names but... Those were the good times. Lots ot LOLs online, lots of action and not even a hint of regret. having like 10 people fanning out and destroying everything on their path was just too cool to miss.
  18. I am so happy to hear from you all too. Can't say I miss playing Sacred 2 much, but I sure miss all the people I got to know in it. I think now and then have have you lot been doing - I hope all's well As for S3 - I may or may not give it a go when they reduce it seriously. I just can't accept a "Casual" tag on steam for S3. This franchise has never been for casual people... It has been for the likes of us - hardcore gamers who dont mind getting their hands dirty, tweaking, optimizing, and owning it all.
  19. What happened to our favorite franchise guys? Why are they destroying it? I am heartbroken. I just wrote a long petition on the steam forums to fans not to buy this full-priced game. 50€ for a simplified arcade-style excuse for an ARPG? Oh , my goodness... It is just unfair... I was so looking forward to reconnect to all my friends here on FDM, whom I miss a lot, through S3 and reminisce of the good times we had in Sacred 2 in all those hundreds of hours dumped online. And now this... I'd rather take a slap in the face than a game that does away with everything that made S1 and Sacred 2 great...
  20. Hmmm... after a few parties with Bunker Guardians, I think I like mine better. Vitality/Toughness/Power is better than Healing Power/Toughness/Vitality. It really pays off to be able to do some damage than just bunker (hunker?) down and wait for the inevitable in case your party went down - cause you're not doing much anyway... Bunker Guards have a higher survivability than my guard build, but they are also quite inept at making a difference that won't take a millennium...
  21. Well, your guard does have more firepower, because if you use Save Yourselves regularly, your crit change goes up to 51%, and that's almost 1/2 crits, which should provide a bigger damage output in the end. I am pretty much reduced to relying on M#1 & 2 + Save yourselves for damage. My 9th slot is still free, so I can use the power signet on it. In this case, my power goes up to 1949 and my attack goes up to 2908. Unless I can suffer any control effects that would warrant keeping Stand Your Ground there, it is a viable option for both dungeons and PvE, because I can still cure conditions I draw to me from Save yourselves with Virtue of Resolve. The way I see this build, is that it's an awesome way to go dungeon crawling even with a PUG party, cause even if the party goes toast, you can retreat and reset the last combat without actually having to do lots of repairs. As such, and as I'm sure Lujate and Kiy would agree, dungeon crawling is the best way to make cash and outfit your upcoming level 80s with a gear of your choosing. This makes having to worry about gear much less of an issue - and even better, keep your hard earned gold in your pocket, rather than go TP crazy
