  1. From what I've read in the reviews, it appears to me that it looks a bit like Dungeon Siege 2. Both games seem to use a "party-system", whereas in DS2 SP the party was made of up to 4 (with an exploit up to 8) AI-"characters". Story-wise you can compare it to a lot of games; as the plot (country being occupied by a strong force, a group of hero's liberating it) has been used in a lot of games. Thorin
  2. ....... are there players owning Sacred 2: I&B-CM (that's Sacred 2: Ice and Blood-Community Patch version ) who're interested in a regular gaming experience? I'm aware we're going to need a 3rd party software like Hamachi for it, however, as stated in my very first post, I'm missing the good times I had when playing Sacred UW and I'd like to have those again. What I have in mind is doing the main campaign together in Silver; then starting to do the same in Gold, but this time also taking the time to do side-quests, treasure hunts, area-clearing, etc. Or just spending time at the starter's island, waiting until someone is foolish enough to get his / her char killed. The meetings can be set up into a light or a shadow campaign; depends of the majority of preferences. Time to play would be most likely saterday / sunday as it's probably the easiest for everyone around the globe to sign in. If people are interested, please mention the char(s) you'd like to play; which campaign and when you're available / timezone. As for myself: Dryad, both campaigns possible, or seraphim, Light; Timezone: CET (GMT+1) Thorin
  3. Wolfie, that was meant as sarcasm. Well, most of it, actually; since there are still people out there using a WinXP computer - you know, 512 MB RAM, 256MB GFX-card - asking why the game runs so badly at their computer. Fact is: Sacred 2 runs better without the PhysX package as it does with it. Reason why I mentioned it's a good idea not to install that package. But.... If not mistaken the PhysX package was delivered to the CE-version of Sacred 2 only. It could be added to I&B later and thus is also a part of the Gold version of the game. If that's true, there is no other choice but to install it. I guess we just have to wait for Ambrosius to report back in, in case he runs into problems. Thorin
  4. Hi and welcome from another new member. There are 2 lines of patches out. One for the international / UK release, one for the US release. It's obvious which one you need, looking at your location. And if you have the add-on "Ice & Blood " or not. There is one piece of advice I can give you about installing the game. A lot of users have had problems when installing the game at a Win-7 machine. To avoid that, install the game, install the patches up to the last patch, install the add-on - if you have it - after that and update the game to patch 2.65.2. DON'T install the PhysX package, as it often makes the game bloody laggy. Unless you run your PC with about 16GB RAM and a 8GM Gfx-card. When that's done, launch the game and do the registering. After that the game should play without problems. But in case it doesn't, we've got lots of techies here to help you out. Thorin
  5. Thx for the welcome. Seeing I know two of those who posted, I'm not entirely a stranger. I reckon' Gogo's still without pants. Makes me wonder if Gogo's ever going to be with pants. I guess we'll never know. @ Knuckles, I'm afraid you've mistaken me for someone else. My favorite chars in S:UW were the seraphim and Glad. I've tried a DE once, but abandoned him at level 30 or so. I did manage to get a BM up to level 140ish before the servers went off line. And if not mistaken I had a "no-set" Glad at level 160 when the servers were taken off line. What I'm wondering now is, was it you who did that epic Bellevue - Porto Vallum run 20 or so times because your char died each time when you reached the last bridge? Or was it someone else:) It was - for me at least - the best moment of S:UW ever. Thorin
  6. Hiya all! Start to tremble in fear, Oakshield is here! I'm not a long time lurker, but more looking for a nice community to enjoy the nice games we play. Some of you might know me from the Official Sacred Forum, others might know me from the "Clan-I-Ever-Won't-Mention" or both. Some of you might even remember me from the long Sacred: Underworld HC MP games I've played. For those who never heard of me - and for those who did, but have forgotten who I am - I'm a 43 y/o male from The Netherlands who's been playing both Sacred Games as well as their expansions since their release. Currently I'm deep into Skyrim, as it gives imho the RPG-genre a nice refreshing pov. I'm thinking about signing up to the "Elder Scrolls On-line"-beta, hoping to find some of the gaming experience I'm looking for since S:UW went off-line. I'm someone having his heart at his sleeves, meaning I could occasionally offending someone, although it wasn't my intention to do so. If I did, I'm always open to discuss the matter over PM, as I believe in honesty, honour and loyalty. However, my due to my experiences with "the Clan-I-Ever-Won't-Mention", I'm not posting as much as I used to do to avoid similar situations as I had there, leading to my "unvoluntary leave". I'm the kind of person that likes to help people when asked, being it in-game or at the forums, although I'm certain there are members having more knowledge of both games as I have. I'm also the kind of person that likes to hang out with several other players in MP, being it in a party or solo. Hopefully we'll get a game giving that experience again. If people got questions, fire away. If people have objections, speak now or remain silent forever. Thorin (Yes, that's my "autograph", so don't mix it up with the content of my posts).
