  1. Thanks Indy, I'll send you some Crystal/Marble when my merchant ships are free. Buy more ships. So what exactly is the cost for building a colony?
  2. Under actions, mine has: Send circular message, Quit & Overview of the Troops Oh & Ack! Need more wine! Sending you some wine (150), would need some crystals and a bit of marble.
  3. Turns 1&2 - nothing special, just our troops closing in on Tokyo Turn 3 - Artillery research complete. Turn 4 - A great engineer is born in Beijing. I decide to use him and the great artist to start a golden age. Turn 5 - The city of Tokyo is captured! (forgot to take a screenshot) only remaining Japanese city is the one up north. Turn 6 - Nothing much other than gathering our forces near the Greek borders. Turn 7 - Surprise for Alexander as we declare war on him. Surprise for us as Montezuma declares war on us. >_< Oh well, he shouldn't be a problem. Turn 8 - Alexander quickly dispatches stacks near Tokyo and up north near Nara. The ones near Tokyo are crushed immediately, however we have no major troops in Nara. >_< But there's no need to worry! We can send reinforcements in time. Turn 9 - Rock 'n Roll is finished in Borisburg. I decide that sending troops north to kill off Togukawa is too much of a hassle so I sign a temporary peace treaty with him. Turn 10 - Delphi is captured. Turn 11 - The troops near Nara were almost defeated, however Alexander sends in more by sea. Such a worthless attempt. The city of Madras fall in front our troops. Turn 12 - Eifel Tower built in Beijing. We meet up with Monty's troops near Delphi. Turn 13 - We research Composites. Now all we need is Computers and we'll be able to upgrade our tanks to Modern Armor. Our forces will be unstopable. Turn 14 - Corinth is captured. The Egyptian border is now within our reach. Turn 15 - The Greeks lose both Athens and Sparta to us. ------- Save here. ------- Thoughts: Everything is going according to plan, with our forces completely overruning the enemies. I've started building up troops in our north-eastern border cities, as well as on the island cities, which should allow us to open new flanks. (I believe that fighting on two, or even three, flanks is possible and that it would greatly speed up our victory). I've also built some transports to send troops against offshore colonies, but have yet to build the troops to send on them, or any escort ships to send along. I can't hog up all the fun to myself now can I?
  4. Ah, thank you all, the resources are much welcomed. Going to direct my research towards expansion and foreign culture after Wine Press is researched (must get tavern). This shouldn't take more than a day or two, after which I'll be able to join the alliance.
  5. I joined this game as well. >_< Ingame account: DarkIndy13 I'm located on [XX:XX]. The island has wine as special resource and wealth should be complete in about 30 mins.
  6. No problem then, guess we'll be going to war with the greeks then. It's kinda late to play now (1 AM), but I will play tomorrow afternoon.
  7. I say we try for the conquest victory. Way more fun than going for a space race. The only problem would be capturing those offsea colonies, but hopefully we'll be able to manage it. Imo our priority should be destroying the Egyptians while we hold the technological advantage as they are the closest to obtaining modern troops. And to gain access to their territories we have to attack either the Russians or the Greeks. Personally I think we should attack the greeks first as they aren't that strong and it should grant us a quick victory over them and allow us to attack the Egyptians faster than if we were to attack the Russians instead.
  8. 70k? EGAD!! Looking forward to 1 MILLION posts then! (p.s. how many of those where gogo's spam? )
  9. After lots and lots of thinking I decided that attacking Togukawa , as useful as it would have been, is far too risky for the moment. As such I focuse on upgrading our aging army and I can say I did a pretty good job, though we do need to upgrade some more catapults. As for the army stuck up north I decided to leave it there for now and use it for opening a northern flank should we decide to attack the Japanese. Now for the turns: Turn 1 - factory built in Kumbi Saleh; begining work on Statue of Liberty. Library complete in Tianji, next tast granary. Turn 2 - We research Physics and start working on Biology. Turn 3 - Great scientist born in Beijing, I decide to consume him for tech points. Also the population of Djenne revolts. How dare they! Turn 4 - Observatories are built in both Enciville and Guangzhou. Turn 5 - Hindu temple finished in gao; granary is up next. Lighthouse complete in Yangzhou; next step is forge. Turn 6 - Biology researched, onwards to researching Railroads. Bank is built in Xian and a Buddhist temple is finished in Hangzhou. Baoding builds a courthouse; granary next on queue. Turn 7 - Peter demands that we cancel deals with the Egyptians. Obviously we decline. Lots of buildings are finished. The revolt in Djenne has stopped. Turn 8 - Even more buildings are complete. >_< Turn 9 - Buildings again, argh, so many of them. Turn 10 - Forge complete in Timbuktu; next up observatory. Turn 11 - Hindu temple built in Macau => granary. Courthouse finished in Khoisan => granary. Egypt builds the Statue of Liberty before us. On the other hand we get ~580 gold to spend on upgrades. Egypt enters a golden age, ugh, not that good. =/ Turn 12 - We can now build Railroads! Next we shall be able to provide our people with Electricity! That and more buildings again... Turn 13 - Nothing special. Turn 14 - Again nothing special. Turn 15- Iron Works complete in Borisburg. A great artist is born in Beijing. Didn't give him any orders so I'll let someone else decide what to do with him. Thoughts: again the Egyptians have some techs that we don't have and they are the closest to us in terms of research, which in turn allows them to snatch some wonders from time to time. Other than that, we need more cannons. Save here.
  10. Didn't get to play tonight so guess tomorrow around noon will have to do. As for declaring war on Togukawa, it would be nice, but the lack of troops in cities other than the northern one is my greatest concern as well. Then again we have stronger troops, especially if we upgrade them, so who knows...
  11. Didn't get to play yet (I'll probably play tonight, or tomorrow around noon) but I did look around a bit in the savegame. It seems that if we are to attack anyone else first I should find a way to get our army (which is stuck up north) to the main part of our country. So what do you guys think, should I: - take an awfully long amount of time to get some transports up there - try and get Togukawa to sign open borders again -OR- - should I just unite our teritories the way germany reunified the teritories in East Prussia? *wink wink*
  12. My opinion is that we should attack the Incas. They should be the easiest to defeat as all our troops should be focused in only one area (apart from that city on the island but that shouldn't be a problem). It's true that the Russians have nicer cities and attacking them would allow us to control the southern island almost entirely, but fighting them would force us to split our troops in half, on the mainland and on the island. As for the Japanese, conquering them would unite the city of Timbuktu with the rest of the country, which would be a good thing, however if we chose to attack them the amount of border area we should defend in case of a counter-attack would be quite big. Also somehow I think that out of the three, Togukawa has the largest number of forces.
  13. Ok, ok, this time there is no brain damage involved, I swear! Currently watching Spicy Wolf.. err I mean Spice and Wolf. (now to find some brain damage video to post next time )
  14. Ahahaha, 19" CRT!! LOOOOL!! I've seen a 20" CRT once, and that was HUUUUUGE and HEAAAVY!! (more than a normal tv set) I can imagine yours isn't that far of from that. I kinda pitty you for that. On the other hand, why the hell do you keep winning stuff?!?! There's something wrong here, I demand an explanation!
  15. No objection here, attacking one of those two was my opinion anyway.
  16. Argh, took a few screenshot during the game only to realize at the end that fraps didn't save the key I had set for taking screenshots, thus effectively not taking any. Well, not going to replay the game just for some screenshots so text will have to do. 1. Beijing completes bank, our empire's income grows! Production changed to grocer. 2. Nothing to see here, move along. 3. Economics research complete, switching to printing press. Great Merchant is born in Beijing, even more income for our empire. REVOLUTION. 4. We emerge from revolution with a new civic, free market. Yay, more cash! 5. Ignore this line. 6. Grocer finishes in Beijing. Our economy is at its peak, time to build some troops! The globe is built in Borisburg, switching to university. Kaifeng finishes Hindu temple. 7. University finished in Chengdu. 8. -yawn- 9. Printing press has been researched. Enough economic research, time to aim for some military ones (mainly rifling). In order to do so we start researching Replacement Parts. 10. University is built in Hanghou. Shanghai errect a new Hindu Monastery. Beijing gives birth to a Great Artist. 11. University built in Beijing. Due to recently losing all the tiles to the west of Shanghai to the Malinese our Great Artist decided to help us regain our culture superiority by creating some great works in Shanghai. 12. Shandong builds Hindu Temple and so does Xian. 13. zZzZz 14. Japans demands that we cancel all our agreements with Mansa, we decline. Egypt offers constitution for 870 gold and printing press, no way! That's a ripoff. 15. Universities errected in Guangzhou and Borisburg. We research Replacement Parts and start focusing on Rifling! Bellow is ZA WORLD! Here there be drago...I mean save games. My thoughts: Egypt, Mali and Inca all have Constitution (the later bought it from Egypt most likely) which we don't. However Egypt is asking for a way too big price for it and as for Mali and Inca, I'm not sure if we should trade with them (reasons somewhere bellow). Egypt on the other hand has Astronomy as well, which they refuse to trade. Now what I would do in the future if I'd continue playing: Continue building military units untill we get rifling, then using the vast amounts of gold we acquired upgrade as many units to riflemen. After that storm either the Incas or the Malis while we have the technological advantage, steal a couple of cities (capturing them entirely would be too resource consuming) then get them to accept peace. Rebuild forces and do the same with the other. This would eliminate the two biggest threats to our borders as well as putting us way ahead of the Egyptians. After that conquering the rest of the world becomes a piece of cake.
  17. What's this? Is it drinking time? Is it food time? Is it presents time? Is it party time? Do all this apply to you? If yes then you've guessed it, it's your birthday Jafoste and you're about to have a great time and receive warm wishes from everyone! So once again happy birthday to you and may all your wishes come true! (or at least all the wishes that you have today )
  18. Weee, vacation, lol. This thread is getting better and better btw, so is that option to join in on the gaming fun still available? I wanna kick some ass too. (actually I'm more of a builder type but you get my point) Working now on getting a vanilla install of Civ4. (even though I'd like to play with expansions but oh well) I'll post some opinions on the current game after I poke a little in the latest savegame.
  19. Ooooh, nice work Schot! Really awesome avatars you made there, and I must say I did get quite some kicks from seeing the ship avatar. (on a side note: does gogo yell "lich king" around the house too? if yes, oh god, how can you live with him >_<)
