Reviving SacredWiki - Looking for help!

HURRAH! You Schot... you're the king! So, first of all, and important question: is it ready for editing again? If not I'd not do any advertise yet. But if it's ready then.... ATTACK!!!! Thank you soooooooooooo much Schot. -

Wow Schot, 1.19 is a huge achievement. Congrats and thanks! By the way, I think that there have been some changes (there must have been with so many versions!) on the skinning system, but is essentially the same thing than with oldest versions. But I'd say that a nice clean option would to rewrite the skin from the scratch. Well, not from the scratch, really; most common skinning technique in latest versions of mediawiki consist in copy the default skin and extend/modify the sources and styles (and try replicating our old skin feats on it). At least we can consider that a possibility... -

Can't you simply import the old pages into a clean wiki that runs the latest version? "Simply" is relative, obviously, but still. I did that once, but it was a quite simple wiki structure/site, and not sure about having a version change or not; it's true that it's a rather 'simple' process. But I guess there are just too many database changes because of that much amount of versions to upgrade to, so it probably won't work. Btw, amazing job you Schot; that manual upgrade is a little bit painful, but it seems that you got a foot over its neck! Let's go for it! :-D -

Cool! That's it, I guess now it's a matter of having time for it. Anyway, let us know if you need anything we can help with, even if it's only googling. And keep us up to date, we're looking forward it so much... you know. -

Thanx for browsing around Nighthawk! I managed to find it but when I open it it remains blank no matter what I do. Argh! Hey Schot, I've read somewhere the php command line for windows doesn't give any outputs. Or something similar. Maybe that's what you're getting... In my previous post I was thinking about opening a console in windows, and execute the commands from there. I could give you some directions on how to do that, although you may find them in the net much quicker than waiting for me to be around -

About IPBWiki, although I'm not friend of using such 3rd party connectors, I understand is quite useful for us due to the time we've been working with it... (blah blah blah).... Let's go to the business: no support? There's a version from february, and I can see some activity in the forum at www.ipbwiki.com. Schot, why did you say there's not support any more? Am I missing something? -

Well, 1.13.0 sounds good enough for today! About php commands, if you need to run a php script you can type "php myfile.php" in the command line; that will run the whole script. Another way would be running it through a web browser, if the folder is reachable through http. Let me know more details if you're still in need of help with this! -

Omg, these are wonderful news!!! I was about to lose my faith (yeah, blame me for that)!! Thanks so much for your efforts Schot! I'd give you advice on the updates if I could, but I never upgraded a wiki further away than 2 minor updates; 10 versions must be a huge thing! Nevertheless, I'm sure we'll be able alltogether to find workarounds for all the bad things we find in our way. Thank all of you guys for helping in our baby rebirth -
Questions for new return and setup of SacredWiki

Oh, take as many time as needed then! I don't know if I'd be able to help with that, but if it's a matter of searching, let me know what to look for and where -

Hey gogo, any update? Oh, we do miss the wiki man... -
I agree. We don't have such a cold season here in the country of the sun, but we can wait with a cold drink instead! Anyway, I'm not sure why, but I got the feeling we Sacred players are rather a patient race...

Good to see you back guys! I'm not a wiki super-expert, but let me know if I can be of any help in bringing things back, testing, or the mediawiki upgrade or that kind of stuff. -
Sacred 2 - Closed Net Final Going Away Party!
Zeno replied to lujate's topic in Sacred 2 General Discussion
So, according to these news (http://www.sacred2.c...uer_Anfang.html), online servers are being closed... (actually I can't connect today). Will this be definitive? How upset I feel Edit: thx for moving. More adecuate to be here, definitely. I meant I know this is definitive, but this means no multiplayer at all... which is really upseting. -
Wow, that's an amazing job being (or already) done, Knuckles! I can't keep away from the wiki for a couple of months without being back and finding it upside down! You're really awful guys. I was also taking a look to these quests and there are really cool writeups for them, fantastic job. To say nothing about the NPCs! Btw, I've detected a couple of undone quests in northern Artamark: * The Wedding Gift (artamark's gate) - located, SP only * Stop the Golem (orcish byway) - located, SP only * Rescuing the Leprosy Station (urtak's moxie) Maybe I make writeups for them, if I find some cheap canned free-time! Merry Xmas everybody! Zeno
