  1. I had read about Dobri's Guide to the Orc Cave here at FDM, and decided to try it out with a Shadow Veiled Shadow Warrior. (as suggested by Dobri). I had decided to try out r00ster's suggestion that SW do not need to take Creep (bronze mod) since their hiding ability will naturally be boosted by Astral Lord Lore, so Avoidance (less DoT) would be a good choice for a dedicated Astral Lord type build. Well. Collision of ideas. Dobri is quite right that it is a great place for a SW to level. However, that depends on not being noticed by the Orc Champions. At character level 22, with 16 runes read into SV, my SW was occasionally becoming unveiled. A quick 6 (toggle buff 1) would re-cloak him. If there was only one orc left, then I could afford to duke it out with him, no problem. I was careful in positioning my SF and my SW so that I had time to react if my SW became uncloaked. However, the trouble came when I got careless and became visible when there were still 4 orc champions still alive. They caught me using SH on one of them. They turned as one and headed for my SW. I quickly pressed 6 to cloak (as I had done countless times in the past). And... cloaked and uncloaked. Wham! They hit. Cloak and Uncloak. Wham! Wham! Flash! Dead! Things end so quickly in Sacred. I was playing in Silver, figuring that I would upgrade my armour when something good dropped. Which... well it didn't. 55 physical resist in the body armour. I had thought I would be fairly untouchable with an 82% chance to cast without uncloaking... but missing the proximity boost to cloaking (which I'm used to)... was fatal. One of these days I will get it right. So. I thought recapping some of the ways my chars have died might help others avoid the same: 1) Don't use NA around Dragons, Octagolamus, spitting spiders, or other Area of Effect opponents. 2) Don't de-cloak unless you have to... (eg, you have to trigger the guardians) 3) If you're going to test something, don't test it online with your HC character. Export, go to SP, and test there. (A gold level Nimonuil level 62 against a level 42 SW is not going to end well) 4) Take "Creep" bronze mod for SV for added unnoticibility. You'll need it if you stand next to your opponents at any point in the lower character levels.
  2. Alcohol aged in casks... I'm just a little jealous! Hmm.. the green smilie isn't jealous... it's sick! lol Imagine it green with envy... and NOT barfing! Best wishes on your special day!
  3. A mounted character should be able to dismount while on the walkway above the Gar'Colossus... and magically (by ignoring the laws of physics, laws of physics, laws of phyiscs, Captain!) appear on the bottom level of the open pit mine... right near the Gar'Colossus! I've been able to do it in the past... and failed miserably recently (in Ice and Blood). I'm also sure that Schot posted the instructions in another thread (topic about something else). (post 11 in this thread). I'm pretty sure someone made a video of doing it... which I cannot find now. Help! Help!
  4. Congrats on the fast 40 levels! Where did you farm for levels? On the way to bosses, or just ride as quick as possible (veiled) to the bosses for quicker xp? Perhaps you get more xp due to being in Europe and playing with other Europeans (mid afternoon in Europe is early morning in North America)? I was hoping the contagion mod on Rallied Souls would be like the Vampiress Raise Dead CA... that is: each hit had a small% chance to convert the opponent... regardless of how many life points remained. Sounds like it doesn't.
  5. I tried to order yesterday... fail. I tried to order today... success (so far). Awaiting approval for order.
  6. I am very impressed with the way your daughter handled herself during the accident, and afterwards. You should be very proud of her!
  7. Re: knives... if they bend... yikes! Careful! Good luck with the knives! Hmmm. Garage Sales for the Win! We sold a knife block full of knives (sharp ones too) for $1 CDN (about 0.80 cents US) at our garage sale. {Made me cringe considering how much they cost to buy}... So, my advice to everyone out there is: Garage sales and thrift shops... you never know when you'll find something of amazingly high quality for very little. My Mom got a mink coat (I kid you not!) for $10. $10 tiny dollars! Mink! (Ok, so it was the 70s... and $10 was about worth $100 is today {judging by how many groceries you can buy with it today}). I bought 3 ultra-high end golf clubs at a thrift shop for a friend... they wanted $9.99 each (new would cost $450 each IIRC). Buys like these don't last long in the shops... but think about it: When people divorce, or move, or give up a hobby, ... or... shudder... die... someone who has no connection the items wants to dump them... and a charity shop is a good idea...
  8. I was shopping hard the last couple of days with my level 22 HE (level 37 Bargaining when she started, in Silver, HC, Ice and Blood). The gradual upgrades have brought her to level 48 or so in Bargaining. In her quest to find the famous life leech shurikens (and stars) she started seeing lightsabres! She now has 5 lightsabres: a purple, a light blue, a green, and 2 reds. I've been so fixated on the stars that I haven't properly examined the lightsabres. I just knew I wanted them all! Every chance I have to buy a light sabre... I buy one! She also has been buying the life leech % shurikens and stars she finds (which almost always seem to crop up with a bunch of LL% polearms) which range for 0.9%, 1.0% and 1.1% LL. suki helped get my char into Gold... and so now I'm hoping the frequency of lightsabres and shuriken/stars is higher... higher damage or better mods. Re: pumping your bargaining skill: relics in Silver in Ice and Blood give +2, so +6 there. 3 socked sword (one is elemental ) and 2 shield give a chance for +4 all skills, and armour and rings and pendants allow you to pump the Bargaining skill. yellow "to all skills +X", blue "to all skills +X", blue "General Skills +X", blue "Bargaining +X" are all mods your looking for. The blue "to all skills +1" was a surprise.
  9. Late to the party: But... Perhaps it was a Microsoft O/S patch? If it happens again (and soon) then try rolling back the patches. {I myself haven't got a patch from MS in a while... but people's mileages vary for patches}. Glad to hear things are on the mend. Cheers!
  10. As a cyclist I too am angry. Thoughtless people can cause injury for others (by opening their doors without checking). I wish your daughter a speedy recovery. For the driver, defensive (abusive) language often follows when the defensive person did something wrong. No surprise there. Over here, leaving the scene of an accident is a crime too. Probably a lot of charges could be laid that parallel the charges laid in Germany. As a cyclist, I want that driver punished. I want them to learn to be more careful in future. Best wishes for you and your family. A bit of trivia: in China, this would be called a bicycle accident. If a car and a tree had a collision it would be a tree accident. This keeps the car accident rate low(er) in China.
  11. Very profound gogo. Probably true of a lot of aspects in our life. Scares me to think of Sacred3 inflicted by this reality Re:Cameron failed. He didn't live up to your expectation. Same thing happened for me with George Lucas. Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope was so awesome it made me think the other parts of the story would be too. Incorrect BINGO! Re:Shared consumption on a mass scale: Titanic sinking (the real thing), Gone with the Wind, Kennedy Assassination, The Moon Landing (not a movie), Jaws, John Lennon murder, Reagan shooting, Titanic (the movie), 9/11, and now Avatar. All had deep emotional significance. We still have emotions. Things will still get us. Heck, we're still talking today about the sacking of Troy! Some things will never leave the shared consciousness of mankind.
  12. I'm surprised I missed this thread the first time around! I was a bit adventurist in China. I thought the duck's tendons were actually a vegetable. I thought the pork balls were chicken balls. The pork balls were shattered pork breaded, not boneless chicken breaded. Cut my gums on those... The fried scorpions were weird... on a bed of tasteless rice puffs (that apparently had a hint of shrimp taste). So, too, was the fried grasshopper (really gross, the body was full of green guck!)... it was red like a lobster. I had alligator at Gatorland in Florida. Bland. The grossest: actually something western: Egg salad sandwich. Rotten texture. Seemed (but wasn't) rotten. Yuck!
  13. Quests usually do it for me. Those people need help! (Even bunny jumpers need help some time!)
  14. lol! This makes me laugh! I wrote that page today! Thanks Nick. You made me smile after a number of hours of gaming and logging and wiki writing. (Not meant to undermine anyone's contribution to the wiki or anything like that!, or this site either! I was home sick today, so I decided to tackle the Ancestors' Chambers quest chain that Dobs put me onto a few months ago. I got a round-tuit!)
  15. My place of terror is anywhere were the Mist of Miasma is. I think the permanent thunderstorm overloads my graphics card.
  16. This was fixed in Ice and Blood, you can target them when their Shadow Veil is active now. So SW are PvP Gods in original S2FA? IE cannot be targeted if veiled?
  17. Thanks so much chattius. I'm sure this will helps lots of people!
  18. Why not use both terms. That way when someone searches for it, they'll find it no matter which name you use... the official one or the one people think of.
  19. @belgarathmth: Congrats! @ryan: thanks for the awesome video man! I had to shout out "Awesome!" when I saw it... then I scroll down to learn I was channeling gogo! Excellent wolfie2kX! lol!
  20. I searched for 'The Ancestors' Chambers' quest (which starts with The Missing Girl) and came up empty. I'm pretty sure I was able to search for it successfully in the past. I used : Ancestors Chambers Missing as my search criteria, and failed to find a quest page for it. It is a quest chain, so I figured it should be in this list. It's a tricky quest that Dobster started to show me, and I'd very much like to do, and record for the wiki.
  21. I'm playing Sacred 2 using an XP machine... doing online HC. I went to this same area of the game today and had a problem there. The Tharconians just stood there. They didn't move. I suspected lag... but even though I uncloaked a couple of times my life meter did not flicker, nor did the Tharconians move. Something seems to be up in that region, though my symptoms were different from his. I exited the game (after selecting the soul stone so I could get back there easily), and restarted and the Tharconians returned to normal (vicious) responsiveness. Sacred 2 has some glitches.
  22. The T-Energy = pollution idea leads us to need to get rid of the pollution. Since S1 occurs after Sacred 2... we know everything is OK once the harmful T-Energy is removed. Even the elves stop being snotty! (Well, at least the above ground ones!) ...and... T-Energy is bad for Dwarves... we can't see any in our travels in Sacred 2. And who wouldn't want to have a friendly Dwarf around?
  23. I would like to have 2 copies of the 'full game'...complete with discs and extras. Extra copy is the backup. As others have said, download is a friend (past your first copy).
