  1. I was so looking forward to D3, but then I heard about this foolishness. It also requires an active inter-webs connection just to play the single player part. But wait, there ISN'T a single player part. All your stuff is stored on their servers and well, here's the dev feedback on that: Blizzard Responds to Diablo III Online Requirements Feedback A LOT of folks were upset over that mess and they guy actually had the nerve to be surprised. Go figure.
  2. Ok, apparently it is something going on here. I looked in the blueprint.txt and everything is in order there. I'll keep running til I find another one and see if it's also borked. May be just a bug with that particular level of the shield. Here's the screen of the one I got (CM v0130):
  3. Correct. All mine has is the Armor rating. No modifier, no bonuses and no slots. I still get the set bonus for having it. No to go figure out how to get the silly thing in a screen shot.
  4. Not sure if it's just me or not, but it appears that the stats and slots have disappeared from Nikotaste's Aegis (shield). For some reason I can't get the info window to pop up on the screenshot. May want to look and see if something is goofy.
  5. No idea on rarity or what mobs/bosses drop them, but after 2-3 weeks farming with a modified balance file (made specifically for farming sets), I have NEVER seen any of the mutation sets (is what was using when I found drop bug for the SW and HE sets). I do have a few chests stashed that I got from somewhere on the inter-webs that has complete mutation sets for all classes in various level ranges. I can put together a selection and put um up for DL if folks are really that interested in them.
  6. Easy to use utility. Install stuff is in Italian, but other than that, it's pretty straight forward. Very handy to have.
  7. Ok, just reloaded the game after re-configuring my computer. Sadly I lost all my old games so I've had to start over. Anyway, I just got to the Gar'colosus and he has a pretty nasty stun attack. Well, from there I get into stun-lock and can't do anything during his pounding. So, I pull up my map and teleport back to town and I'm STILL in stun-lock. Can't move or use my Combat Arts. I can tinker with my inventory, drop stuff, pick it back up and what-not but still can't move. Elixirs don't break the lock either. I have to exit the game and try again and HOPEFULLY not get hit with his stun. I've tried killing him 4 times now and every time he sneaks one in on me and I get the lock. Dunno if this is from the CM or just my horrible luck. Edit: I finally got him dead after a few more tries. but that stun-lock thing is VERY annoying
  8. No codes that I am aware of, but the videos are easy to unlock and come about thru regular game play. The concert is really cool and the quest to unlock it isn't too bad. And you get some nifty loots for it too.
  9. I've never experienced this memory leak that people speak of. Even after playing for 10-12 hours straight using several characters in one session. Using the actual Elite Graphics pack (installed form disc), it took well under 10 minutes for the crash. This is one of the reasons I just want to over-write the textures (MQ or HQ, doesn't really matter which set) with those from the Elite pack. Personal peeve of mine. I want the best eye-candy I can reliably get. This is why I have 8GB ram (can bump that to 40 if I plug in one of my USB thumb drives) and dual 1GB vid cards in SLI mode. I suppose when I have the time I can copy and replace the textures to see what happens (after backing up the originals of course). If I ever get around to trying this, I'll post back here and let you guys know how it worked out.
  10. I have the elite Graphics pack but it causes some serious problems with my game. Random game crashes, buggy sound, .dll crashes and some other weird junk. The Question: Is it possible to just copy the textures from the elite .pak files over to the regular .pak files? what I would like to do is just take the elite textures and replace the normal HQ textures so I can have the really nice looking stuff without all the bugs that the elite pack gives me. Can this be safely done, and if so, how would I go about it? I have a couple ideas, but, well, I'm a bit too chicken to try them without some feedback form folks that actually KNOW what they're doing.
  11. I started playing mount and blade WAY back when it was maybe $5 to get a key and version 0.4 something. Made a few mods for myself and played it for ages. Still load it up on occasion too. As for getting started, it is a ROYAL PITA. Best I can tell you is to hire a few mounted guys from taverns and just beat on random SMALL groups. Also, look for the various heroes you can get/hire. They help immensely. Combat does take a while to get used to, but once you get the knack of it, you'll be almost unstoppable. I prefer mounted myself, but on foot with a big muckin sword is also loads of fun, and a bit easier to do. Look around fro the training camps. You can go there to practice all the various forms of combat, earning a few weapon points and a small amount of XP. And there is no real penalty if you screw up there aside from some wasted time while you heal up. Steam is the devil in disguise. I refuse to purchase ANY game that requires me to install spy-ware. Yes, Steam is spy-ware. That is what I call any application that lets someone else know what I'm doing, when I do it and for how long. Mount and Blade was originally written by one guy using the DX6 developers pack. And as far as I can tell, it is still one, MAYBE 2-3 guys, working on the main game. Many of the newer systems get confused while trying to run the old DX6 graphics. Though I think he did update them to DX9 with the release of Warbands. The later parts of the game revolve around you trying to take over the world, either for yourself or whatever King you decided to sign on with. There's no real story to it, but there is one main side story for each kingdom where you try to find the 'True' heir to the throne and put him/her in power. IIRC, there are also some romance options in the game if that interests you. Basically, it's just one big slugfest. And by far the best mounted combat game I've seen to date.
  12. This is why I don't like people. They do all sorts of mean things to the rest of us.
  13. It'd be nifty if each of the DD powers had an accompanying summons associated with it. Get the regular effect with a summons tacked on the end with the summons being affected by the skill level (like the demon). I dunno. May be too powerful, but would certainly be a reason to actually invest in the skill.
  14. You can try adding this bit to the optionsCustom.txt file locale = { language = "en_UK", speech = "en_UK", } Also may have to do a temp rename of the en_US folder to en_UK. No clue if this will work or not, but is worth a try. Good Luck p.s. - IIRC, you do have to fire up the game once to make the custom options active.
  15. Keep in mind that if you make this change, when CMv0130 arrives you must restore the bugged version or it will present an error that the correct drop.txt is not found. There is a typo in the drop.txt file, so here's a quick fix for this problem. Lordaeron and Nine Hells arms have the same entry number, so when the file is read, the Lordaeron entry is over-writing the Nine Hells entry. To fix this, we just change the Lordaeron entry since it is the last one in that particular drop list. 1. Back-up and KEEP your drop.txt located in ../scripts/server/. You will need this file when CMv0130 is released. 2. Open drop.txt with a text editor and search for: entry71 = { -- SK_Lordaeron_Arms. Should be around line number 8217. 3. Change: entry71 = { -- SK_Lordaeron_Arms to read: entry72 = { -- SK_Lordaeron_Arms 4. save and enjoy. Keep in mind that if you make this change, when CMv0130 arrives you must restore the bugged version or it will present an error that the correct drop.txt is not found.
  16. I am also not getting these to drop. I did some snooping and discovered an error in one of the files. Sent czevak a message about the problem.
  17. Ooo, so they are ancient magik doo-hickies that, when used, make it harder for the bad guys to squish you. very cool. I could go for that.
  18. Get a bigger whacky stick and beat the resistance out of them til they go squish. Steroids or not, get a big enough whacky-stick and you can goo-puddle anything.
  19. Hard copy of Fallout: Vegas states on the box that it requires Steam. To the best of my knowledge only the downloaded version of FO:NV from Direct2Drive does not require the use of Steam. From what I can gather far from various sources (some reliable, some not so much) Skyrim SHOULD be using a simple disk check for DRM, akin to what was on Oblivion and FO3. That may or may not change between now and release. I mean it is 5 months away. Plenty of time to screw it up. So with that said, IF current rumor hold true, I will probably purchase the game. But as already stated, if it requires Steam, it'll never see the inside of my DVD drive.
  20. Had to make a minor change to the medium elixir mitigations. The Alchemy calculations were a bit skewed for them. Uploaded version 1.1 to the download section. Can get it here: Elixir Change Went through the posts here and deleted the code. The raw code is included in the download read-me.
  21. As much as I love the Elder Scroll games, I will not be buying this one. With Fallout: New Vegas, Obsidian/Bethsoft started usin Steam for their DRM. And I positively REFUSE to put Steam on my system. As far as I'm concerned, it's nobodies darn business what I do on my PC and Steam, IMO, is just corporate sponsored spyware.
