  1. Fully patched to 2.65.2 it runs best on Win7 64 but it still needs the memory work-arounds. Having a dual boot at the time between XP and Win7 64, it was way more stable on Win7. This may depend on hardware though...
  2. Yeah your right, it was a good debate but now it's time to go play it for what it is
  3. I think it was using the Auction House in the first place that made me feel that way about drops. I had one play through normal and found it fun upgrading my stuff from what dropped. Diablo killed me a few times but it was fun After that I decided to see what the AH was like and was amazed at the stuff you could buy. I spent around 75k and my DPS and health doubled. This has been said by many people and this is the reason why drops feel so bad. Since That first time using the AH I know that 90% of what drops is poor compared to what I could buy, so I just sell it to collect gold, to visit the AH for upgrades. We all want to be the most powerful and strong we can so why settle for weaker drops when you can buy stronger gear? It is the level requirement on gear that causes the AH and monster drops to be so out of sync with each other. Drops seem to have a level requirement roughly 10 levels lower than yours(could be higher). Items in the AH can easily be searched by level requirement at or just below your character level, meaning that you get much better gear. In Sacred 2 you could farm for awesome gear from drops and could even get higher level upgrades by farming monsters above your level(purples). Sorry Shadout but the drops in Sacred 2 were way better than D3 and bargaining was still only there for good rares and jewellery, you could not buy sets/uniques.
  4. But on the other flip side, if they were good drops people wouldn't be selling them, they would be using/stashing them If the proposed changes improve the drops to find a happy medium between drops and the auction house then that would make the game more enjoyable to everyone. I'm not sure if Blizzard will ever do this though because the game is built around money money money.
  5. I'm having a good time but my enjoyment is lessened by the poor drops and the regular trips to the AH. The example of these games being like a playing on a slot machine was good. If every monster I kill is like pulling the handle on the machine and waiting for the jackpot to come, then D3 has lost a lot of that. It is fun for a while but I wonder how many people will still be playing it in a years time.
  6. I think we are going to agree to disagree on this one Gogo . I don't see the comparison between bargaining in Sacred and the auction house in D3. Bargaining needed a heavy skill investment and you could not buy sets/uniques. There were many players that got too niob HC without bargaining because the game was designed to not need bargainning to survive at later levels. D3 has its drops designed to be worse to force you into using the auction house. Have a read of this thread Gogo, by a game dev explaining what is wrong with D3 loot. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5270834615?page=1 I want to kill stuff and find loot, not spend time browsing EBay
  7. I have to disagree Gogo, there is a difference. D3 has been designed around the auction house and is pretty much impossible later on unless you use it. You could easily get a toon to niobium in Sacred 2 without ever using bargaining and still have good items from drops, including +skill/CA stuff and set items. The buzz of getting good drops was always there in Sacred 2 and it just isn't in D3. How much of what you get from drops do you actually use? I would hazard a guess that it is no more than 10% because most of what drops is 10+ levels lower than you and is way worse than items you can buy from the GAH. I played pretty much all day today and found ONE item from a drop that was just about useful, a rare shield with +vit and a socket. Even then I could have gone on the auction house and bought something better for a few grand. Pretty much every rare that drops is under level rendering it useless. I'm enjoying the game for what it is but the loot system is a bit of a mess.
  8. Blizzard have basically said that yes they are. It's all about the money, even more so when the RMAH opens.
  9. I use it but only for the same reasons Knuckles said. For me it goes against everything a loot'em'up should be though. The game is more of a gold farming then shopping game. They need to increase the level of the items that drop from monsters so that it is actually fun to get good drops again.
  10. I have made the space bar my regen health hotkey ever since I played Sacred HC online, so many years ago. It is the key you are bound to hit when you frantically smash the keyboard. Couldn't agree more, it was one of the first changes I made
  11. Welcome back Obsession Your quote is 100% exactly how I feel about the game. The game is fun but I miss the builds! In S1/2 the fun was making multiple toons just to try out crazy stuff and make it work, boy do I miss that in D3. I don't really feel like I've been on a journey with my toon in D3 cause I can respec him at any point or just farm some gold and buy way better items from the auction house than I'll get from drops. The game is great in 4 player teams but for me it wont have the longevity of Sacred in term of builds. The hype stage has worn off quite quick. I should be gaming this time on a Friday night but instead I'm watching TV....
  12. I currently have a Xperia play that I got cheap from amazon with no contract. The phone is average at best as a phone but as a mobile gaming device it is awesome. The N64 and snes emulators work well and it's the only handheld device that I tried that will play Super Mario Kart flawlessly http://se-xperia.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/n64oid-xperia-play.png Next month I'm going to get the 41 megapixel Nokia 808 Pureview. http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2012/05/nokia-808-pureview-hands-on-a-superb-camera-with-a-phone-attached/ Yeah I know it's running Symbian but for me the camera is the main selling point.
  13. For me the only other game that got close was Titan Quest and it's expansion Immortal Throne. I spent many hundreds of hours playing that with friends and there are some great fan made mods for it now such as Underlord. Titan Quest is linear though so not exactly like Sacred but still one of the best arpg's out there. You might also want to check out Grim Dawn which is being developed by a few guys that made Titan Quest but is more open world like Sacred. Excellent post about S1 Gogo, we spent years playing that and the feeling of community it gave has never matched since.
  14. Sorry guys it was me that posted about the guy getting hacked. I didn't mean to panic anyone, just give a warning to be careful. There is no proof that it was done through the players Battletag but it might help to not have them on the open forum, or at least display them in a way that can not be easily searched by a hacker/spammer. The guy was hacked through his friend list but it is not clear how they got his details.
  15. I'm using one of these and loving it so far although it does take some learning to find the button positions. http://www.corsair.com/vengeance-m90-performance-mmo-rts-laser-gaming-mouse.html Corsair are having problems with the software and not everybody can use the mouse with the current beta version. Thankfully it works well for me. Another mouse that I can recommend is the previous one I had http://www.roccat.org/Products/Gaming-Mice/ROCCAT-Kone-/ I had the Kone, not the Kone+ and it was awesome for around two years until I wore it out
  16. Thought you guys should know this. Wouldn't want anybody to get caught out on launch day http://clan-da.com/showthread.php?t=10231
  17. There is a pledge for a boxed version but it will cost you $100. Depending on how rich you may or may not be, that could be a bargain
  18. The Grim Dawn Kickstarter page is live here: This game is looking awesome and they need the help of us hack n slash fans to reach the target They have reached the half way point so if anybody is interested in getting the game, now is the time to part with some cash
  19. I need to stop looking at all the pics in this thread, getting a bit choked up So many good memories from Sacred 2. I've said it lots in the last few weeks but I can't stop thinking what could have been if Ascaron didn't go bust. S1 was a bug fest in the first year but with patches turned into one of the best arpg's ever. If only the devs had the time and money to truly finish Sacred 2, then I'm sure it would have surpassed S1. Looking forward to S3, hopefully it will go back to it's roots but not lose any of it's charm. RIP Sacred 2
  20. Sadly no video He died a few days ago in the farewell party from a 'reflectitrightbackinyourface' Grunwald dragon fight. http://darkmatters.org/forums/index.php?/topic/20197-sacred-2-closed-net-final-going-away-party/page__view__findpost__p__6942774 Jolting Touch steals mana so you can spam it with instant regen and life leech. The downside to this is that the reflect can build up(lag included)and you cannot get away. Once his shield is down he is toast A video would not do him justice tbh, take him for a run and see the bullets bouncing all over the place. It's like a quick fire homing missile
  21. File Name: Ping-pong Temple Guardian File Submitter: Dobster File Submitted: 02 Apr 2012 File Category: Ice & Blood Temple Guardian Builds This is my go at making a Ping-pong Temple Guardian. He was exported from the closed HC servers before closure. He is by no means perfect and needs a little fine tuning and I would probably have made a few different choices if building another. He uses Amplifying Discharge as his main CA and spams Jolting Touch for bosses. A very fun and interesting toon. It's good to watch the bullets bounce around all over. He has high chance to half regen to try and get the damage high enough for AD. The south swamp area with spiders and wolves is his fave hunting grounds 2 buff suits are included in his inventory and 2 buff weapon slots to boost his buff levels. I hope somebody will have as much fun playing him as I did Click here to download this file
