  7. wedding -> Polterabend The eve before wedding neiighbours, former classmates, friends,... come to the house of the bride and throw porcelaine. Breaking porcelaine is said to bring luck. We had around 300 guests at the marriage of our oldest. The couple has to cleanup the porcelaine together before a little party can start. We served drinks and snacks at the firefighter building after the porcelaine breaking. The wedding is then normally with a smaller number of people. At our place before entering the chapel for the wedding the couple has to do challenges, like sawing a trunk blocking the entrance door with a two men saw to show that they can work together to solve problems.
  8. We have firefighter open day tomorrow and I was phoning the baker for some hundreds breadrolls. I was put on hold and guess what was played in an endless loop:
  9. bonding -> first born Four years between first and second. When the second was born the older was closer to me. When my wife was nursing the second the older was walking with me in the forest, was interested when I was repairing something, ... Even with three more kids, the oldest is somehow more like me what she is doing.
  10. descriptive -> blazon In heraldry and heraldic vexillology, a blazon is a formal description of a coat of arms, flag or similar emblem, from which the reader can reconstruct the appropriate image. My birthtown Wetzlar's civic coat of arms might heraldically be described thus: In gules a spreadeagle sable armed, langued and crowned Or, over its wing dexter a cross pattée argent. The black Imperial eagle on a red background and with a golden crown stands for the town's former Imperial immediacy as a Free Imperial City (see History). The silver cross stands for the former Imperial City's right to mint coins. The arms are almost unchanged from those borne in the 12th century.
  11. british -> British racing green The VW Corrado VR6 of my wife is close to it, but the VW colour is called Classic Green Pearl Effect. 30 years old
  12. Stormy. Holes in the clouds. In them we can watch shains of cranes in the sun returning from Africa. So my personal weather predict: spring is near.

  14. pasta -> Schupfnudel noodle mainly from potato. I like them roasted with sauerkraut and bacon, wife was used to eat them with sugar and jelly. Grewing up in different regions

  16. flush -> Hypothalamus responsible for heat reception and hot flush
  17. Pizza Can't beat a good warm selfmade Zwiebelkuchen (onion cake). Carneval tuesday I do them with yeast dough, sour cream, bacon, sour cream cheese, bear garlic, caraway and of cause onions. Add selfmade wine from sour apples and sorb tree fruits. Picture from a cooking site. I do them on BIG plates.
  18. Marquis de Sade -> madhouse He wrote many of his stories while I jail or in a madhouse.
  19. Robert Galbraith -> Tiger Had to write a semester work in literature about Tucholsky and a play at the school theatre: A party with some friended families - till a kid aks what is the reason for the holes in cheese. Familes starting a more and more overheating discussion close to open war. And it ends with the kid raising its arms to the sky: Lord, do you know why are there holes in the cheese,
  20. xenophobia -> feather duster There was a time when xenos meant not only stranger or enemy but also guest. So Xenophobia could be the fear that guests (parents in law) could consider yout house dirty. So befor they visit you do a total cleaning of the house. Luckily our house has a sign at the entrance: Our home is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy!
  21. Mom has birthday and my older sister is on visit in Germany. She always said that at her first life concert with Foreigner, Saga and Meatloaf Meatloaf did a strange stage show. The zipper of his trousers got damaged and one of the female singer and himself were trying to fix it with silk scarfs. She also said he nearly collapsed and needed oxygen, being drunk or a collapse never was told. The official international TV coverage I knew was censored and showing the band while the scarf affair, the german one had it.
