Ah, the memory of figuring out that my gladiator could only equip the orange items so I only picked up those. Inevitably, I had a crash and went in search of a patch which altered how items appeared on the ground and I progressed to better ways.

If it happens again, you can export your toon and then start a new game using the import option.

Have a friend in town for a job interview who is staying at the house a couple nights, but as soon as he's gone, I've gotta give this a try! I tried that dwarf fortress game that a few old SIF'ers liked but I could never get into it for long. A little too much micromanagement. I'll give you an invite to my empire as soon as it's ready!!!

I was frustrated a month or so ago while trying to change my email address. Not sure what restrictions they had in place when I created my secret question and answer but it took me a while guessing various spellings and use of upper/lower case to get it right. I had contacted customer service but had finally guessed it before they were able to help me.

Some of D3's achievements are worth trying as they push you to do some amount of grinding and exploring. It's interesting but also a tiny bit frustrating how many times you might grind an area before finding a certain event or unique enemy. And as others have said, they've really changed up some of the mechanics over a long string of patches.

Can't remember where it is, options maybe, but one multiplayer issue that people had moving from XP to later Windows is the setting for connection speed: change it from ISDN to dial-up. It has no impact on your connection speed but it does do something internally with how it handles the network connection. Be sure you're checking both software and hardware firewalls, as newer versions of Windows like to think for you because Bill Gates thinks you're too stupid to be trusted w/ your own computer to do it automatically. You might have 2 software firewalls because of Windows and a 3rd party program and not realize both are active. I could check my machine at home tonight to suggest a good freeware program for checking if you have the proper ports open. I have a memory of disconnecting the outside line from my modem, turning off all firewalls, starting the dedicated server and connecting to it on my own pc, and turning all firewalls back on. This forced the firewalls to learn that program and it didn't give me a problem after that. Of course that was a good 5-6 years ago. A large enough piece to make a decent size skull is going to have a fair number of natural imperfections in the crystalline structure. Any water in those imperfections would turn to ice and cause a problem. Did you clean your work at any point w/ water? I'd think so just imagining that various compounds you might use would need to be cleaned off. And just thinking, if you'd recently bought that chunk, it might have been cut using a wet saw not too long ago, resulting in water in the crystal. Not to mention that silicon expands when frozen.

How'd they get off the bridge? They won the battle but got stuck in an area of the map from which they could not move. They probably had to restart from their last save game.

It did take three tries. Had to kite him a bunch to finally avoid one of his special moves that kept getting me. I was going to try doing the "Unique Collection" achievement which requires killing several dozen unique monsters. But the first one I went hunting for took about 30 runs for him to appear. To get the roughly 4 dozen I need to find could easily take 2000 runs in various areas.

So how'd you go dressed and was anyone else dressed up?

Definitely not Skynard or a duster. You didn't say what type of boots; no, if they're cowboy. Try searching ghetto prep instead of preppy (although it's not much more help). I'd go w/ jeans, black tshirt, and sport coat. A pair of Nikes or other brand name shoes if you have them. If you can find a big fake gold chain or two for cheap, wear it. Oh, and gangsta fedoras are popular now, if you can find one super cheap but don't waste real money on one if you won't wear it again. Hmm, if you felt like hitting the Goodwill thrift store, you could look for cheap tshirts that have a designer logo on them; the bigger the logo the better. If you don't already own a basic black (no printing) t-shirt, you should have one (or several) anyway. If nothing else, hit Old Navy and they have black tshirts w/ gray ribbing on the collar and sleeves for $8 or so. But don't wear all black because you're not trying to be Goth or Emo or whatever.

I've heard some success stories about sites like Kickstarter but no idea how they work. Might also look into the "micro" loan sites where you can get crowdsourced loans. I've looked at those a few times when I had a few extra bucks but never invested in anyone (usually because I decided to just put the money on my mortgage instead). You might start by looking up on websites like the Small Business Administration about how to do a business plan. Any serious investor (and most banks) will want to see one. http://www.sba.gov/ The SBA might also be a source of loans and grants. You could also look into angel investors and venture capitalists. They'll generally want to see a business plan.

It's interesting how my interaction w/ the auction house has changed my playing this time around. I realized that low level blue and yellow items were better to be broken into their crafting components for sale. A blue item might sell in-game for 100-400 gold but it's crafting component might sell in the AH for 800-1200. But... after I had several hundred of the two lowest level crafting components, I started crafting armor for myself. When you have hundreds of components, you can make multiple of the same item to see what modifiers you get. So then I tried selling the extras in the auction house and made more money than if I'd sold components alone. BUT I only made money because it's the set item w/ extra modifiers (I tried selling some yellow chest armor I experimented with and it was not profitable). I have another green item listed right now that's gone over a million gold, can't wait to see what it closes at!! I've been playing two toons. I've been running Hell Act 4 in the public games w/ my level 60-6 wizard. I've pretty much decided I don't like Inferno enough to try to get all the way thru it. So I've just been grinding Act 4 for drops. My other toon is a "new" wizard. He's up to level 36 but I've only been running in normal to focus him on collecting crafting components. I've been maxing out his "magic find". I also have one or two toons strictly for muling and the auction house. I've actually been buying really cheap blues and yellows in the AH and then breaking them down into components, so I have one toon just for that.

While not precisely the throne from the movie, it's certainly close enough to merit a mention IMO.

I wish it was real money! I think it's still open. As I recall, both real money and gold auction houses close in March. They added the requirement of having an authenticator to use the real money auction and I had no desire to get one.

I got lucky once and found a recipe for making a set called Cain's Fate. I've been playing again recently and have been messing around w/ crafting. I've been making multiples of the same item trying to max out my "magic find". I decided to sell all the duplicates in the auction house. Check out how much one of them sold for!!! My guess is they wanted it for the "find gold" mod. Needless to say, I'll be flooding the market until the auction house closes!!!

Two thoughts since no one else has taken a stab at this... 1) you might read up about the optionscustom file to see if anyone has found a setting in it for multiple graphics cards 2) disable the Intel graphics when you want to play Sacred 2 (either in BIOS if on motherboard or in Device Manager). If you're not using the Intel graphics at all, then simply disable it so your PC quits using resources to manage it.

Two thoughts (been a bit too long since I've played to know for certain): 1) may need to export the character in Sacred and import it in UW 2) may need to find the hero file and copy it to the UW save folder The problem is probably #1. If I remember correctly, it doesn't create a hero file when you're playing a regular game; it's just part of the save game file. I don't remember the exact term but you need to save or export your character. This creates a file that starts w/ the word hero (it's something like hero0.pax but don't hold me to the 2nd half of it).

Sweet!!! - very similar to my favorite crossbow barbarian build. Makes me want to reinstall S1 and try a wood elf (I was pretty bad about only playing barbarians until dwarves were added, and then I mainly did those for the uber trading).
