  3. thank you all for the well wishes! just got home and I'm driving out far for a meeting all day...lame. anyway, they're coming home so I'll see them tonight. found out he's ticklish mom's walking around a little bit more than yesterday and baby's eating and pooping like no other oh, we've decided to name him alexander markus markus for her stepdad mark, who never had a boy[5 girls] and wanted to be here, but was stuck up in spokane watching the girls
  4. if you're going to be tri element, then ancient magic isn't necessary for piercing immunity. instead, what you'll be using it for is to increase damage, which combat d will do for you quite nicely and with the -reg bonus. I would drop ancient magic for shield lore, unless you plan on going 2h staff, which would be more unique but less effective/defensive than a shield/weapon because of slots and double the native item modifiers but then again, I have yet to see what 2h staves really do in Ice and Blood
  5. screenshot or it didn't happen, right? it's amazing how much they can change in a matter of 24 hours...well it'll be a full day in 4 hours but I'm off to a full day at work, unfortunately. didn't want to tear myself away from him. I believe we've selected alexander. mom doesn't like alex so we will insist on alexander, though learning to spell his name in cursive is going to drive him insane. I know, my name is pretty long as well... I just can't get over the fact that I'll be calling him baby 'al.' just born with my little sister with mom's arm[she didn't want to be in the picture, said she looked terrible] there are too many to post, but these are my favorite. I'll try to get one with me in it, but with the visitor train neverending, it's hard. she needs her rest, but is grateful for the support everyone is showing. [edit] those are shot bootleg style with my iphone, so the quality is not so great[sister lost my digicam, but stepdad is coming with his d80 for official pics] in case anyone was wondering, he's a mix...half white and half asian...so he's gonna be a good lookin kid[watch out ladies] 7 pounds 5.1 ounces 20 inches long
  6. it's a boy with some nice strong legs. he's also really quiet and doesn't cry at all. we're stuck on names though. Elliot? Simon? Alexander? Aleksander? Gavin? Seth? mom is doing great. a little pale, but good thanks for all the well wishes! he'll be level 1 in a year!
  7. if some of you have noticed, I've been absent from posting too much and playing in general. sometimes life deals interesting cards and you just can't forget that there is a life outside of whatever games you play, no matter how immersive they are anyway, just wanted to say we had our first baby born today at 9:33am pst. he's perfectly healthy and we are all happy/tired I'll have pictures up but right now I'm posting from my phone at the hospital welcome, baby soldats!

  9. pascal mercier - the night train to lisbon about halfway through this...the language...is like watching a breathtaking landscape. I can't describe it any other way. a sad but triumphant novel so far

  11. dglore. meant tactics lore it was becoming more of a chore, LF has no real Area of Effect attacks, it's best used as a secondary aspect p.s jolting touch + dedicated blow is a very effective combo against bosses/champions yes, but if you went with tactics lore, you could go with what many tg players do...ds. that's Area of Effect...but since everyone else does it, well, by default, I will not.
  12. dg lore doesn't exist after 150 levels with the lf tg, I would say forget it. he's way underclassed compared other classes/builds
  13. consider raising int or +all skills[indirectly increases dmg by raising ancient magic[if you have it], combat discipline[if you have it], aspect lore/focus[you'd better have these]]
  14. and I just finished this after picking it up 2 months ago...usually a book is devoured within a week or two..but this was more of a casual read whenever I had 5-10 minutes. dan simmons - drood it's about the last 5 years of charles dickens' life..and the book he never finished. although I would say that the jacket insert with the book preview is quite misleading, as after reading 784 pages of this 'stuff,' I feel as if I didn't get the same impression as the preview purported. anyway. it's yet another victorian era piece. everything is well done including the research and language. the only lacking portion is the story itself..as it falls flat after about 2/3 of the way through. I felt as if I just HAD to finish it. dan simmons is a master of historical fiction, and I thoroughly enjoyed his other novel, 'the terror.' it's about the lost franklin expedition...I highly suggest that one as it really grips you unlike 'drood.'
  15. strangely enough, I've always wanted to read the picture of dorian gray but I never got around to it...maybe after this one michel faber - the crimson petal and the white it's yet another one of those victorian era books...I seem to have a taste for them..at least in the past 2 years the novel is pretty racy and the one glaring flaw is that faber uses anachronistic language...that is, modern diction to tell a 19th century tale. for all his talent and worshipping all the newspapers are lauding onto this book, there is a disjunction between myself and pages based on the words used alone....so sad. but the story is engaging... [edit] it's a whopping 900+ pages...
  16. static dmg rings only affect weapon based attacks. you should be looking for +xx% rings, which affect all dmg, be it weapon based or not. the only way to increase healing from Combat Arts is to memorize more runes or spending more skill points in the aspect lore
  17. if you can bear to live without consitution...I suggest skipping it, and instead using warding energy early on. you will suffer within the first 75 levels. but by shifting focus on defense in the beginning, you will get by, albeit slower, and the payoff will be greater. without a chance to test this out since na won't get the experience...I can't say for sure
  18. so far as I know and most everyone will probably agree... any elemental converters that are SOCKETED only affect weapon based attacks, be it ca or left click. what you're seeing now is a display error. any non weapon based Combat Arts...you'll notice that their dmg is something like 353-353...it's static. these are NOT affected by socketed elemental pieces such as lava chunks, magic pearls, poison fangs, ice shards. as for the battery arm, I'm not sure if any elemental sockets affect the dmg output of regular battery attacks, ie 'shots' from the arm. any Combat Arts cast from that arm shouldn't be affected by elemental sockets

  20. so the reduction to all skills, db, jewelry and 200 rune cap doesn't affect non experience users? because since we don't know if na is going to get an experience release, we'll be stuck at 2.43....right?
  21. used to have one for weekly rantings and observations. then I'd neglect it and start another. the cycle repeats. but it's hard to maintain something like that...it's like watching/feeding/fussing over a chia pet.
  22. is it going to affect non expansion players? I can't imagine the game being able to run on two different patch versions regardless of whether or not a user is running the experience or core game. this came up in a conversation with another vent mate.... I vote yes syd votes no
  23. all fairness, changes this monumental should warrant some kind of respec. I am NOT a fan of respeccing in any game, but when gameplay is going to be broken for existing high level characters, some way to reset them for the time invested should be available. do you know how many hours I spent on all my 150's? slaving away only to be slapped in the face
