  1. Last year I purchased two 8TB external harddrives to use as backup for my two main computers, my iMac and my PC. I notice that they come as high as 16TB but half that is more than sufficient for my needs.
  2. I have an old nVidia Sparkle Calibre P860+ that I used to run Sacred 2 with no problems but it only has 512 Mb video RAM and the output is not the standard VGA output. There is an S-Video and two DVI-I outputs on the back plane. There is an S-Video connector as well as an S-Video to composite video adapter included. It is a PCI Express x16 card that requires two additional Molex connections to the power supply. If you had a monitor that would accept the output from the card, I would be willing to give you the card if you pay for shipping. It's in a zip-lock bag with all documentation, the two cables, and the CD installation disk that came with it. If you decide you want it, let me know in this post and we can then exchange addresses so I can mail you the card. You can send me the shipping costs after you get the card if you decide to try it. It would probably be better if you held out for what you are hoping for. Best of luck!
  3. Welcome, SnerkDevil, may your reach forever match your desires. You should find many who have just about any knowledge about Sacred and Sacred 2 that you may deem necessary.
  4. I've been working with multiple monitors and will typically have different displays on each. If you could just get both games to 'time share' you could get it to work.
  5. My first copy of Sacred came from the UK because it wasn't sold in the US at first. I still play intermittently but more because I have squired multiple copies of the game, including a couple I 'won' while beta testing for the last official upgrade. To this day I still prefer the Dragon Mage to other characters. My grave can still be found in the game. The game I consistently go back to is Master of Orion II from my DOS days. It really helps that there is a new mod for the game, v1.50.18.3. For any wishing to try it: MOO2MOD
  6. It looks interesting but I'm having enough trouble using my right hand. I think it would be almost impossible to manage a new combat system. I've been trying to play Fallout 4 but every time I get drawn into combat, I have to use the console command 'killall' just to stay alive. I've tried again and again to control my mouse in a combat situation but, even with almost unlimited ammo, my aim 'wanders all over the place.
  7. I allowed my iMac to performed an update last night and I can now respond using Firefox. I will eventually get around to checking out Safari as well but there is no rush. Beware, I'm back!
  8. When I try to enter any response, be it a post reply, a new post, or even an edited post, the main text field is simply a thin line with no place to enter any text. Fortunately, I have more than one computer, so I am posting on my Windows 10 PC. I first discovered the problem with the 'Birthdays' topic. I couldn't enter my birthday. After I gave up, I then tried to send someone a PM with the same problem. I finally tried my PC and at least have a means of typing in a message. I will wait to see if this posts before trying to remember what other information I was going to try to post. [Added] Well, that worked and 'Edit' also appears to work. I am using the latest version of Firefox on both computers. I suppose I next need to try another browser on my iMac ... [Added] Well, using Safari didn't help, the results were the same. I wonder what my iMac has against DarkMatters? I guess I will be forced to use my PC if I wish to continue communicating.
  9. This would be cool but don't use my phone often enough to be really useful. https://www.amazon.com/Star-Generation-Bluetooth-Communicator-Badge/dp/B0777S47VQ/
  10. When I first got my cell phones, I couldn't even get service when inside our house. I got weak, one bar service, if I waved the phone around outside our back door. After I complained to the service provider, they came up with a cell repeater that hooked into our Internet service. Now we always have full service ... unless the power fails ...
  11. Fascinating. I appear to be the worst lurker here ... or perhaps I'm just too lazy to post.
  12. Surprise, surprise, the books are better than the movie and they differ in quite a few instances so they are well worth the time and effort to read them. The biggest difference is that 'John Smith', Number Four, is the one who is flame resistant, not Number Six. Now that they have teamed up, their 'number immunity' is no longer valid ... I didn't want to wait for our library to get them all, so I purchased them all at once. I will probably re-read them, so it was worth it.
  13. We watched 'I am Number Four' somewhere and I promptly got the video. Then I learned it was based on actual books and I have gone through eight of them so far. Only two more to go for the main series.
  14. Welcome, Curios. I hope you find everything you need in here. Could it be that your cookies have been mangled somehow? I remember having a similar problem a couple of decades ago. I deleted all my cookies and my login started working. The only problem was then having to remember all my multitudinous passwords. Fortunately I remembered most and got the rest ... in other ways. I cannot guarantee it will work but it is an option.
  15. Isn't the main advantage of a forum the ability to maintain a history of what is posted? That history is best kept where everyone involved can peruse it. Yes, every once in a while someone will rudely post into what someone had felt was a 'private' conservation but that is often a plus as it gains new perspective and possible solutions to problems. If there is a real need for private conversation, why not have restricted forums that are only visible to specific groups? I have used hidden forums as part of a 'spam trap' for many years. It keeps spam and porn out of the rest of the forum until I get around to removing them and the only one inconvenienced are the Admins who must access the profile to remove the offender. Many of my forums are visible to the public but require membership to post. There are even forums that are invisible to the public which gives us a means to discuss events of a more 'personal' matter that we don't wish to share with anyone not a member of the main forum. PMs are just that, Private Messages, something that should remain only between a extremely limited number of people and is of a limited useful life ... therefore eminently deleteable once that use has been accomplished. Of course this is only my personal take on things as it is only my opinion. Please take it in the helpful way it was intended regardless of the outcome.
  16. I just checked and I still have a copy of FF VIII that works on a PC as well as the PS2. I might try it again ... since I still have both systems.
  17. Then I guess it's up to gogo to move this further. I also trust the DM crew to preserve your intentions. Personally, I think it would be advantageous to have 'mirror' sites. I would remove all trace of external links so your site copy would no longer be directly accessible from my web site but the underlying code would still be there to preserve any external links as long as possible. If I simply deleted your site from my web site none of the existing links would work. That will eventually happen when I am no longer able to maintain my web site but hopefully by then DM will become the preferred site.
  18. Thank you. Your thoughts are appreciated. Since you are here, how do you feel about Dark Matters becoming the host for your old website? I know you have given permission for the transfer previously, but an explicit approval now might help speed things up a bit. If I had not recovered your sight might have been harder to recover. I have a feeling that Dark Matters will be around longer than my site. I will host your site as long as possible but there is no one else to take over my site if it goes down. Perhaps a 'mirror' site arrangement would be even better for your fans. Please let me know soon.
  19. Thanks for the good thoughts. I don't plan on giving up quite yet.
  20. Welcome, jokuni. I'm sure that you will discover this to be the premier location for all your Sacred needs. I think it's beyond time to actively transfer all the files I'm holding in trust over to Dark Matters...
  21. Sorry, I haven't been around much lately but I had a stroke 10 June 2019. I was in two different rehab centers with another short, week-long hospital stay near the beginning. I have now been discharged (about 20 Sept 2019), went through in-home therapy after that as well as outpatient therapy at turned out to be one of the best places to be. Funnily enough, my last outpatient therapy ended just before the big Covid-19 scare really took off. I still do not have full use of my right (primary) hand, but I am ... hopeful. My posts may be few from here on out because of being forced to use the "Columbus Method" of typing with my left hand. I will try to visit at least once a week or so, especially since we got a stairlift going down to my dungeon. I hope everyone here and those closest to them continues to be well. Peace and long life.
  22. The Dwarves looks like an interesting game. Is there any way to get a hard copy of the game? I much prefer to have a CD/DVD/Blu-ray of a game over a digital download.
  23. Just found this on Gamespot and thought I'd share: Q&A: Blind Guardian on Music in Games
