  1. Note to all console players (especially high elves or other pure casting builds): if you want to use combat discipline effctively, it must be paired with a weapon skill (even if you are a pure spell caster) for most effective use because combo animation execution speed is determined by your attack speed only (which is influnced by weapon skills) always, not your casting speed as gained by "spell lore skills" such as pyro lore for high elf or nature lore for dryad. It would be good to put this in the wiki. For discussion of how to overcome this without using weapon skills (as suggested later in the thread) please see here: http://darkmatters.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=12234 -Zin
  2. So quickest way to farm in SP is activate a gate or monolith close to boss, kill, save, create a new game? This seems much slower than multiplayer where stuff respawns then. What is the easiest boss to farm in SP that gives good items?
  3. Great ideas and thanks for your help. I haven't made up my mind about CAs and CA mods at this point but I need to do it. I want to get as much survivability as possible through damage mitigation, would be nice to get to 100% damage mitigation... Fire monkey = Fire demon? Your right, ranged lore is secondary for high elf so that's pretty much out. Does ancient magic extra damage stack with combat discipline extra damage if cas are in a combo? I need to do some testing with casting execution speed in combos to see if lore effects ca speed in combos on console. I know this is fixed on pc but don't know if it is on consoles. Where would you put stats? I'm not playing hardcore but I want to avoid dieing. Edit: Just found this out from llama: http://forum.sacredeng.ascaron-net.com/sho...ed=1#post609938 "Post-2.40 on the PC, the relevant Lore skill improved the casting speed of CAs in a combo, prior to this combo execution speed was affected by your attack speed (regardless of what was in the combo)... Its still broken on the console" Using a weapon lore is thus required if you want to maximize the effectiveness of combat discipline and combo execution speed. So.... Weapon +Combat discipline or weapon+ancient magic but combat discipline+ancient magic without weapon skill is a bad idea. If choosing between combat discipline or ancient magic, which would you pick?
  4. Hi, I think alchemy does require heavy finger acrobatics because trophies can't be slotted as far as I know. From your analysis, the weapon skill is useless in a magic-coup based that will not be left-clicking build because it adds only attack value, is that correct? Here's what I found in this thread about magic coup speed and ranged weapons: "Magic Coup works with any weapon, including ranged weapons. Try it with a bow. The only problem with using a bow for Magic Coup is that for some reason the casting animation is very slow (about 1.5 second) so you aren't able to "rapid fire" much." Source: http://forum.sacredeng.ascaron-net.com/sho...ead.php?t=49688 Is this still true or was that fixed? Has anyone had experience with magic coup/ranged weapons on console that could answer this? Thanks.
  5. I realise this goes away somewhat from the "melee" aspect somewhat, but what about removing tactics and adding both combat discipline and bargaining? I think that tactics does not effect magic coup and no attack would benefit from it except the left-click attack of this build? If using an ice sword and magic coup and crystal skin, will the damage be increased versus using magic coup with a regular weapon and without crystal skin (or is the mods on crystal skin+ice sword only for left-click damage)? If not doing this, would it be better to get pyro focus instead of ice focus and mod the flame skin buff instead of crystal skin... Here's the build I am thinking about: Skills (not necessarily in this order): delphic arcania lore delphic arcania focus arrant pyromancer focus or Ice focus concentration bargaining constitution armor lore shield lore combat discipline sword lore or ranged lore Reason for considering ranged lore: If you try to do a ca but its not quite recharged on xbox, you execute a regular attack. If you've got a close ranged weapon and you're not right on the enemy, it will miss whereas a ranged weapon will hit. However, I read somewhere that the animation speed of magic coup with ranged lore is very slow and so this might not be a good idea. Does anyone know if lore effects casting speed in a combo on xbox? I know that got fixed on pc (lore does effect casting speed in combos) but not sure about Xbox. If this is the case, I might drop combat discipline for tactics or ancient magic... From the wiki: http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php5...bat_Discipline "Improves regeneration of Combat Arts that are in a Combo and slightly increases the damage of all combat arts. Also allows up to three Combat Arts in a combo. Prior to game version 2.40.0, it should be noted that due to a bug Combat Arts in a combo did not benefit from Increased Cast Speed from Lore skills." I think that the console versions do not have up to 2.4 so this bug is not fixed on consoles, which diminishes the attraction of this skill for console users. Can someone confirm that this indeed is not fixed on the consoles? Thanks.
  6. Played this up to about level 11 in SP so far and am getting dropped very easy by mobs in silver. Took ranged lore, armor lore, bargaining and EP as first four skills which was probably a bad idea . I wanted to get bargaining quick but as I'm not killing fast enough, stuff is killing me, ugh. Maybe I should go back to kobolds for a bit...
  7. Have not had that problem at all with the xbox version. All the god powers I used seemed to "work" except for testa hitting my "pets" in addition to/instead of enemies sometimes which was weird and possibly not intentional. Admitedly this was on single player only. Not sure if the range of testa's power really depends on the range of the weapon you are using or if this is my imagination.
  8. Is there a listing of which quests give the top level loot (all in one spot)? It might be interesting to have a specific section of the wiki showing the quests that give the best loot and the starting region for each. If I summarize what was said here, the best quests for rewards seem to be: Undead Legion: Starts in clearview, Length: Very Long Blind Guardian: Starts in clearview, Length: Long Basement: Starts in Khorum Deadly Blue: Starts in Sar thas Dream Vampire: Starts in Sar thas From what I understand, killing bosses and mini bosses seems to be a generally more efficient way to collect loot than doing quests, even if the character has bargaining. I understand that the bosses and mini bosses do not respawn in SP campaign mode, but would they respawn in single player "open" mode? What is generally the most efficient way to "boss farm" if you are playing single player?
  9. I think the better question is which diety goes best with which type of build? Someone told me testa is a good choice for pure ranged builds and forens for pure melee builds (more chance to reflect damage). One thing that would be really great for the wiki would be a table of the god powers including: - Approximate animation time of the god power - Approximate duration of the god power without devine devotion - Notes on the effectiveness if known (like what % reflect is forens and what kind of damage does it actually reflect?) How much damage do the willow o wisps do? Stuff like that, I would really like to know... - Other comments (like testa's willo-o-wisps seem to hit allies and enemies (at least on the console versions this is true: it hits the shadow warrior skelletons).... Forens does not seem to reflect 100% of damage while active. You can get hit while casting god powers and it seems to me that you can't drink poitions while casting them. [Edit: Another question I wonder about is what makes the testa willow o wisps fire - do you have to swing a weapon or just be close to an enemy and does weapon type effect this? It seems to me that my willow o wisps had a longer range when I was using a ranged weapon than when I was using a melee weapon]... I'm thinking about making a magic coup/lightning bold high elf and wondering which diety to choose....
  10. Is the general conclusion from this that EP does not really help finding set/uniques that much and that characters are better off taking another skill instead of it? Ex: Characters with bargainin as a first choice should get only that as a general skill and those that have to take another skill before bargaining should take riding or blacksmithing? Is it easy enough to get the set items you need without EP to make it just not worth it? Thanks.
  11. From what I have seen on forums it seems likely consoles will not get blood and ice and also that blacksmithing is unlikely to be fixed on consoles.
  12. Just a quick suggestion: might want to add the BFG to this table? Thanks for providing it .
  13. If WEL only mitigates 27 pts of damage, it seems like this is the one to drop if going for damage mitigation, so would drop that and rev tech lore for bargaining and EP. If you don't have EP, how do you go about getting all the rare/set equipment you need other than having another character or multiplayer? It seems like really bargaing and EP gimps every character but maybe this is one that it gimps less because BFG is pretty powerful by itself. Multiplayer is not an option for me at this point as I don't want to pay for an xbox live subscription.
  14. If making an EP bargaining build, you suggested dropping Revered lore and consitution or WEL. I did read all the articles on WEL and from what I understand it adds an absolute number of damage mitigation (27 at mastery). plus 135% shield values... Also read the guides on damage mitigation and it seems really good too. If your goal is to get damage mitigation to eventually take all the damage on this build while still taking ep and bargaining, is that possible on this build and what skills should we drop in this case? If dropping such skills, would this change the way you mod any of the CAS? I'm very interested in ranged characters with bargaining and ep because on xbox its very easy to miss with combat arts and in this case a normal attack is executed. When such attack is a melee attack, well its just off target and misses which stinks but if its a ranged attack, it hits something, so the attack is not "wasted". BFG seraphim seems like a really good build to create an EP/bargaining character on the xbox for this reason. Thanks a lot!
  15. Thanks for the feedback, its food for thought. I would love to take blacksmithing but on the console its totally broken and doesn't work at all. It seems likely that there will not be any fixes of this nor any future patches for console versions. Any ideas about which weapon to pick? So I'm thinking this now: 1. Swords/Hafted/Ranged - Which weapon skill is the best choice? Related question: What would be the best set or unique sword, hafted or ranged weapon for this build? 2. Tactics Lore 3. Bargaining 4. Devout Guardian Focus 5. Concentration 6. Warding Energy Lore 7. Amour Lore 8. Enhanced Perception 9. Constitution Last skill: Source warden or Toughness, or take both and not constitution.... [Edit: Toughness seems pretty important if you get debuffed....] So the question is source warden or constitution. Levelling up may be slow due to lack of Area of Effect. I haven't started this character yet, I'm actually trying to determine the build that I will be able to level fastest with bargaining and EP together. Think I've narrowed my choice down to a temple guardian build like this or a Dryad like this one: http://forum.sacredeng.ascaron-net.com/sho...ead.php?t=53315
  16. Because playing on XBOX and smith can't be used (sucks), thinking about the following skillset: 1. Constitution Last skill: Undecided between source warden to mod the extra buff (very good I think), speed lore (very good since we will be left-click attacking a lot?), or damage lore. What do you think? Is killing bosses really slow since mostly attacks are left-click? Any particular strategy for bosses/big mobs other than just left-click? Where do you think the stat points should go and what mods have you been choosing for the buffs/Cas that you use? What equipment (any set equipment?) is particularly good for a build like this? I was looking at set equipment and noticed the lumen's servant and shadow servant sets. Can you only get the light set if playing the light campaign and only the dark guardian set playing the dark campaign? Anyone used either of these?
