ORP

Has anyone else used ORP?

If so, when you first started using it, what did you do? Can I just copy & paste spy reports in? It mentions something about a Spy Tab, which I can't see...

Hey llama!

I jsut talked to indy...and I JUST found out about this thing. Indy's not using it and we're not exactly sher how it works. We think that maybe Crunchie could be using it. I'll get in contact with him today and/or you can maybe pm him.

Cheers!

I have been using ORP for a long time and am very familiar with its functionality. ORP is the single greatest Ogame resource I have ever found! Before ORP I used to raid 500k sometimes 1 Mil per day, after ORP it became regularly between 1 and 3mil per day!

Ok what version of ORP are you using? With the recent release of ogame V0.72C most versions of ORP ceased to function correctly or at all... the newest version ORP 1.1.1.6 does however work well and boasts a few improvements.

Step 1- Creating the basic database

You have a blank database- go to the galaxy view and select from solar system down to key and copy. As long as ORP 1.1.1.6 is running you should hear an alert sound and when you toggle back to ORP you should find that it has automatically switched to the paste solar system tab and at the bottom it will read " Message: Solar system X:XXX processed successfully. If this does not occur automatically simply paste the solar system into the upper window and click process solar system.

I prefer to do this before I do my esp scans... I suggest scanning as many systems as possible as over time you will end up creating a universe directory (ORP allows you to filter by player/alliance/planet co ords etc) so in time you can filter by player name and find all of their planets instantly its a neat trick :D This only needs to be done the first time not every day. It also should be done when you notice something has changed ie a planet has been destroyed etc.

Step 2 Processing spy reports.

Probe, probe, probe... I typically scan around 100 planets each time which is about 20 solar systems to the left or to the right. That generally takes me about 15 mins. After I have scanned to the 20th system across I check my overview which typically reads as "You have 87 new messages" then you go to msgs and select from the top of the first esp report all the way down to chance of counterespionage 0% on the last esp report shown copy all of this and you should hear another alert sound from ORP. When you then toggle across to ORP expect a delay as its now processing automatically the 50 reports you just copied. When it’s finished you will be in the paste spy reports tab and there should be a long list of messages to effect of "1/24/2006 12:13:43 PM - Message: Spy report on X:XXX:X processed successfully.

Please note its important that you have scanned all the galaxies first or ORP will ask you to manually enter all the players names and alliances... at this point I suggest you toggle back to Ogame and delete all those spy reports so the others appear as Ogame will only show you the first 50. Once again copy the spy reports now shown and ORP will do its thing :) if the reports don’t process automatically after being copied paste them into the upper section of the paste spy reports tab and click process.

Step 3 Using filters and sorting your farms.

ORP has many predefined filters built in and also allows you to create your own.

I typically use the predefined filter "last scanned today" then I click on the column "total" so that ORP shows me only planets scanned today and then lists them from highest resources down. There are many many filters you can use for many purposes try sorting by defense strength for week undefended farms or attack strength if you are hunting fleets B)

Well guys I hope this helps feel free to post any questions you've got and I'll try and help where I can :)

Let the UltraMegaFarming begin...

Yeah, I also probe a lot of planets (damn that "no free fleet slot" message!) & while I created a spreadsheet to pull out the useful info from a scan, it's not as efficient as I'm sure ORP is.

I'll try this when I get home.

Edit: One last question, can I increase the number of spy reports (etc) that are displayed at one time in the messages "folder"?

wow

this is...amazing!

Incendar, this is a great boon you've provided us with and I can hardly wait to try it out.

I was reading one of your posts in the ogame forum last night about your philosophies on this game.

Intel is everything...

I agree

Course...I'll let llama our resident expert number crunch check it out first.

Excellent, it appears that I wasn't actually running ORP before, so I was just being stupid...

:)

One last question, what do all the columns mean in the spy view tab? Is there a link to descriptions, also, how do I use multiple filters...

Edit: Sorry, another question, how do I change the "Attacked Last" field for planets?

Link to comment

Ok there were a few questions so the sensible thing would be to approach them Hap hazardously ;) so...

Random answer number 1.

The last attacked field auto fills after you paste in your combat reports done under the "paste combat reports" tab. I have gotten lazy in recent times and don’t bother but it is good to paste all your combat reports into ORP, by doing this you keep a record of the people you have upset in the past and it also allows you to see how much you have raided for the day :)

Random answer 2.

Column explanations... well I don’t know em all some of them I know include

MD = Metal Debris

CD = Crystal Debris

PR = Player Rank

AR = Alliance Ranking

AM = Alliance Members

Scanned = Last time scanned through a solar system scan

AS = Alliance average strength

Most of them are abbreviations and are simple to figure out.

AS can be a useful one but you need to go to the Ogame stats page select alliances and then copy and paste it in to the "paste alliances" tab first for it to work :)

Random answer 3

Using multiple filters or creating Custom filters...

This is probably the trickiest thing in ORP but it’s really not that hard once you start playing around. Rather than be original I am going to cheat and paste an example how to from the ORP site :) it’s a good example anyhoo and saves me some time :)

I should note though that mainly I just edit the predefined filters in ORP for example edit the filter named Crashable fleets today which by default reads

" (AssaultPower > 100) AND (DefencePower < :DEFENCE) AND (LastScanned > :TODAY)" and change it to

" (AssaultPower > 50000) AND (DefencePower < :DEFENCE) AND (LastScanned > :TODAY)"

or to (AssaultPower > 10000) AND (DefencePower < :DEFENCE) AND (LastScanned > :TODAY)

or if you want just o=people with a minimum of say 5000 defence strength then use

"(AssaultPower > 10000) AND (DefencePower >5000) AND (LastScanned > :TODAY)"

etc etc

the following are some borrowed filters and can be combined with above examples :)

So let's say your current raiding base is situated in Galaxy 4:371. So you want to make a filter to show you all planets around you with a maximum radius of 30. Well then you start typing the following in the custom filter box:

Quote:

(GalaxyID=4) AND (SolarSystemID < 401) AND (SolarSystemID > 341)

Press [enter] to see whether the filter shows you what you want. If the filter is correct, right-click with your mouse on the custom filter combobox and click "save custom filter", name it (for instance) "Range 4:371", that's it, the filter has been added to your custom filter list and will be saved when you exit ORP.

You could elaborate on the last filter by only showing you the planets in the vicinity of your raiding base that you've scanned today and yesterday. The filter will look like:

Quote:

(GalaxyID=4) AND (SolarSystemID < 401) AND (SolarSystemID > 341) AND (LastScanned > :YESTERDAY)

You could elaborate on the last filter by only showing you the planets in the vicinity of your raiding base that you've scanned in the last week. The filter will look like:

Quote:

(GalaxyID=4) AND (SolarSystemID < 401) AND (SolarSystemID > 341) AND (LastScanned > :WEEK)

Hope that helps...

orp is a wonderful tool. been using it for months now. some of the newer versions have some nice enhancements.

1. start it up :)

2. go to galaxy page, click in the middle, press ctrl-a and the ctrl-c to scan it into orp. it watches the clipboard and determines when appropriate data is there to be parsed.

3. scan some inactives

4. go to your messages screen and there should be some new esp reports. there is a little checkbox that allows you to view them all in one page. do it and hit ok again. click, hit ctrl-a and then ctrl-c. orp will parse all esp reports.

a few othe tricks I have found are as follows:

A) you can sort columns, just click on the header.

B) if you move the database around, ie from multiple computers and want to use a memory stick u can do that with a little old school dos knowledge.

1. open up the folder that orp.exe and all the files are in

2. open up orp.ini

3. find the line 'pathname' and change it to "PathName=.\ORP.mdb" without the quotes. EDIT: that is a period before the backslash and remove the quotes.

4. now orp looks in the directory that the exe is in for the database

C) if you know databases, you can just open up orp.mdb to make queries, reports and etc. I was thinking of writing an extension to put in folks that are spying on me. but I don't really want to learn delphi as orp is open source. it helps to have orp.exe closed so that you don't have locking errors.

D) for my inactive hunting, I sort inactives by coords. I start on a solar system from the galaxy page. I scan it into orp, switch to orp and see if inactives are new because they don't have any data. send some esp probes and move to the next system. fast and efficient.

Where's that, 'casue atm I'm doing the Esp reports 9 at a time. Unless it's something you get with Commander?

it probably is a commander feature. there is a check box just below miscellaneous messages in the view that says "only show parts of espionage reports". if I uncheck it and hit ok again I see all the esp reports on one page for super easy scanning into orp.

hey guys!

wow, this program looks quite promising. But I'm also intersted in how much time it takes. Is the ROI (return on investment) worth it?

and...does this work for attacking inactives? Is it worth it?

And...do we have to be in a busy part of the galaxy for it to be of value?

Thanks!

:)

I think the return on investment is great. you are probably already scanning galaxys, tracking planets and players and watching cr's. a couple keystrokes takes no time at all. the alternative is notes by paper or spreadsheet, orp is so much simpler. I have a terrible memory on occasion. you are already doing the work, it just makes recording it so much easier.

for inactives, you just sort by coords and work your way down the list if scanning. if attacking, just sort by energy and hit the big ones and work your way down the list during the day.

it keeps track of combat reports also. no more worries about bashing.

I think it is useful in any part of the galaxy, I operate in two busy galaxies, hard to find good spots for new planets. keeps track of alliances, hostile friendly raidable, etc. nice when going to war to have a very good idea where the enemy is.

I can't say enough about it. only downside is that it doesn't yet track folks scanning you, I still use an excel spreadsheet.

Ooooooooooooooh... I've seen that...

I didn't realise that all the data was still there, I just thought it displayed a link to the full report & that was it.

Oh yes, Orp is definitely worth it. Not only does it store a lot of info about players/planets/etc, if you've managed to get full (ie tech) spy info from one planet for a particular player, Orp will take that into account when showing you the spy report for any of that player's other planets (so you only really need to get the tech for a player from one planet).

no luck llama8. the gaminjokers.com website has been spammed up with porn.

I tried changing localizations options to european, messing with langauge ini file but not work. I did however get an excel spreadsheet that parses through stuff but is no where in complete form, but gets me by for the moment.

edit: pm me if you want to try the spreadsheet, definately in alpha mode

spreadsheet seems to be working correctly. fixed some bugs with defense that made 3k ll go to zero in orp after I lost 20 some battlecruisers. slows one down versus standalone orp, but oh well, still better than paper and pencil

oh well, got to rebuild to 1k again to kill noobs :tease:

latest thing to use orp is notepad instead of excel for parsing out periods in big numbers. remember orp does not keep battlecruisers

how it works -

1. so go about mass scanning as usual, with monitor clipboard option in orp on while scan in galaxies

2. browse through esp, hit any tasty targets immediately. if scan into speedsim, neglect to bring in coords, as orp will scan the esp in and butcher numbers. paste rest of esp into speedsim and then manually input coords into speedsim to determine deut costs.

3. once enough esp reports collected for your taste, turn off clipboard monitor on orp

4. ctrl-a and then ctrl-c messages onto clipboard

5. run notepad (I assocate with ctrl-alt-n keycombo)

6. paste into notepad

7. hit ctrl-h to replace. do "." with nothing and do it

8. ctrl-a and ctrl-c to select all the text from notepad

9. paste into esp tab in orp and hit process

10. once done scan in esp reports to orp, turn back on clipboard monitoring

11. resume scanning or attack

how to fix stupid errors I fix all the time -

1. scan planet before moon. since folks can retain moons, u want to keep the moon as more valid than what level mines they have

2. accidentally scan in esp report without taking out "." in big numbers. find the esp report, put into notepad and get rid of the periods in big numbers by the above method. on the time of the report, add one second, then scan back into orp

***bump***

as many know, orp fell into disrepair. I got the last source code from the author, taught myself delphi and fixed it to work on 0.77c for .org servers. I lost my best tester yesterday when he quit ogame yesterday.

anyone interested in testing/running it prior to an ogame wide introduction?

new features are

1. up to date for ships/buildings

2. records harvesting reports per planet and view overall

3. records spied on events on a per planet basis to track probes by others. can also overview all.

4. notes edited on a per planet basis, unlimited amount of them. can also overview all.

5. upgraded the database structure to improve performance and integrity

the new forum is aqui. due to the problems for the last orp forum, all users have to be verified prior to posting and general use of orp.
