Teamspeak server for Friends of Teh Dark

Recommended Posts

  • 3 weeks later...

Wouldn't it be nice if we all got on one server so that we could talk AND play instead of type&play :)

If someone has an empty server or knows how to get one post here so we can work something out (I have cookies).

For the ones that think I'm speaking Ancarian Orc Grunt Language here are some links:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ventrilo

http://www.ventrilo.com/

http://www.teamspeak.com/

Carnage & Snowball fights all done on one server with a mic :xmastree: . Any suggestions/comments?

UPDATE:

EVERYONE WHO WANTS ACCESS TO THE TEAMSPEAK SERVER CHANNEL FOR SACRED 2 - Fallen Angel gameplay ONLY

Send a PM to Chrona OR Me, Chareos Rantras for the Ip & password.

FORUM RULES WILL APPLY MOSTLY THE SAME IN THAT CHANNEL!!

First time you log in, you've to register yourself to switch from the lobby to any subchannels.

if Chrona's not there, another SA will help you.

Tips:

- don't use quick connect

- Better: connect-connect-local adressbook-right click-add new server

- TeamSpeak client download here: http://www.teamspeak.com/

Vista:

For TS, make sure to select "Run as Administrator"

cheers!

This Im always up for, Ive been playing Lotro for 2 years and boy Its awesome to just hit one button to talk out loud! , also had my own vent and ts servers. Its a fantastic thing, and one aspect I really miss. Type chat is just awful because you lose all sense of meaning behind it (Especially when people are bashing you and you cant tell if its for fun or malise :) )

Having to type promotes superior grammar, and spelling.

Hrm... if I can get my parents to finally either upgrade bandwidth for our internet... or provide me with a second line for my own internet (I tried that last year... maybe this year they'll give in)... I should be able to run my own TS/Vent servers (assuming they can be hosted off linux, if they need windows it'll take a bit longer to set up in this case), and have them up regardless of whether I'm around or not.

Of course typing isn't so bad, but not having to type is quite useful in some games.

Only other option I saw when looking quickly (was looking to make sure it would install as a server on a Linux machine) was that there's also Mumble as an option. I'd seen reference to it before in the past and it seemed quite useful, however I suppose since it's a newer less-known program for the time that fewer people will have used it.

Well if Chrona can setup a channel and find a way of letting us know the pasword & ip we could hop on there (best not to just post it here, dunno rly)

Maybe we should ask gogo to make this a sticky and move it to other forum...

On long term maybe you can install a server specially for FDM, but we'd better wait for Schot or Gogo to post here

Just get Xbox, its all built in with no need for Servers or IP's

Im all to familar with TS and Vent, 2 years on WOW in a raiding guild did me in.... altho now its wonderful to play Only the new Xbox games that come out my wife dont get so upset with me for spending 72 hours strait on the same game with no breaks :)

Chareos, or I set it up and then allow people to use it, doesn't have to specifically be for FDM. (Of course would probably work better with a different domain name, but those are cheap so can always get a second)

Pft, XBox? I'll stick with the good ol' compy any day ;3

But yeah, that's one cool thing about the console...

I know there are many many other things that you can do with the computer that the xbox cant.... but xbox is microsoft and all it is is just a hardcore gaming computer -works, adobe, quicktime, norton, what other applications did I used to turn off while gaming.... :)

+ its super easy to have maps quest lines or anything else open on your computer and still have the ability to play... the ctrls take some getting used to but its all good... dont get me wrong comps have their place with gaming, but its nice to sit back on your couch, with a controller in your hand, looking at a big 52" HDTV while playing :)

Aight is cool, but how would we pass on the password and Ip ? Through PM's ? or just post in thread (not rly secure)

Well once I get a second domain name (current one is my last name, hence the 'trouble' with using it for anything non-personal), I would post it somewhere secure.

I already have my computer setup for DNS updating so that's not a problem, and the password I would set up the same.

Aight now to fudge out that extra bandwith, you could always try setting up a donation account so we can help out? :)

-deletes everything he'd been about to write-

Checking again... this would not work, at least unless I moved out and downtown.

I'm on DSL which means roughly 600kbit/s upload speed, average quality encoding etc with 10 people (2 talking) and I'd be using up 240 or so kbits/s, more than that and it'd be all the worse.

In this case, Chrona's idea would likely be a much better one, DSL really won't cut it and there's nothing provided here that would go far enough beyond that to make it worthwhile (ADSL2+ 24mbit in the downtown core would do it, but that's a different story entirely, no option for Fiber around here)

No problem mate, we'll stick with Chrona's for now then?

NOW, how are we going to deal out the password & ip ? What's a secure place to put that? Most guilds I know in GuildWars only gave it through PM's .....

cheers!
