They really need to use the marketplaces on xbox and ps3 to their advantage, offering epic weapons or lowbie starter sets for points, that would be a constant flow of cash into the the company From Consoles :)

IMHO a sacred2 expansion made avaliable on psn / xbla would make a lot of sense. I wager that a sacred expansion wouldn't take up more size than the oblivion expansion which was released on xbla (even though ms are notorious for their size limits)

Almost forgot: Sacred 2 expansion? OH YEAH!

Size limits shouldn't be too much of an issue. The current limit is 2GB, which is plenty of room for an expansion. If you take the Shivering Isles as an example, that takes up just under 1GB of space and is approximately the size of Morrowind's game map... tons of content. Although I would imagine it helps that Oblivion's engine uses procedural content instead of having everything hand-drawn and placed by the game artists.

I would definitely be up for an expansion over XBL and PSN. Would be pretty silly not to do it, if they have the resources available. That would be a pretty big if right now though, considering Asacron's current circumstances...

Here's an attempt to make the quoted text a bit more readable:

Sacred 2: Ice & Blood

New Character: The Dragon Mage:

The 3 aspects:

Dragon magic (offensive)

Dragon impact: calls for a Lindwurm (a mythological sea dragon), which drops a fire bomb.

Berserker form: Transforms you into a “Lizard man”. The more opponents killed the longer the spell will last

Elemental magic

This aspect can summon various (?) earth and air monsters.

Magic Wall: Conjures a wall which protects against opponents.

Mentalist

Energy fire: Lightning flame.

:): slows down opponent.

The Dragon mage can play both the shadow and the light campaign.

This decision does not change the course of the campaign.

The new areas

Blood forest: Dark-red forest area (or content)

Crystal plane: Blue area

The two areas are not included in the main quest, but plays a role in the next story (or: side-quests):

At the hunting ground of the Seraphim there should be a crystal phoenix to deal with (not sure if this means boss monster, or quest giver)

Prerequisite for entering the area: Be level 5 or higher, and speak with a quest giver (client is the literal translation) in the Highelven capital.

You decide in what order the areas are done in.

There should be approximately 20 side-quests available in each area and also bosses (e.g. the demon Ashibai in the blood forest).

Innovations

Finally, magic staffs (looks like it's the skill, not the weapon group) gives a bonus: like in “Titan Quest” they will shot magic projectiles.

Hair-style and hair color can be changed in the character creation.

An alternative combat system will exist: “If you use a Combat Art, normally all combat arts from the same aspect will reload, you must on another evade

(I really can't make any sense of the german text, but I would assume that the meaning is than one have to rely on the other aspects).

With the alternative model the regeneration of the origin aspect completesfaster, but the other aspects regenerates for a very long time. This means that you can specialize more easily in a single aspect.

Combos can now contain up to five Combat Arts”

New, particularly powerful "legendary" weapons. Either the Epics will be improved or it's new legendaries since “legendary” is emphasized.

New riding animals: Unicorns, flame horses.

The carrier Imp now given to everyone.

Now, that's the “short” summary.

Whoever wants to read the entire preview should buy the magazine.

The existing pictures are interesting as well.

Greeting, Shatro.

Hope that makes a bit more sense

Thank you's to translate.google.com and my various teachers whom, if dead, would be rolling in their graves :(

Thx losludvig! That makes it easier to understand.

“If you use a Combat Art, normally all combat arts from the same aspect will reload, you must on another evade"

It sounds like that means you can only use 1 aspect with this style. The other aspects regen will be substantially higher maybe so you have to evade (avoid) them?

Let me state this first: I never was any good at german :(, thus this is guesswork...

However: The quote you pulled was concerning the old system I.e. what we have now. As it is now, you have to rely on the other aspects (or a crazy-ass regen time, and/or yellow pots :) ) while your Combat Arts aspect regenerates.

Wow! This is unexpected and very cool news. I am so going to play the new class--I may even have to buy some new character slots.

I expect a bit of anger on the SIF with the release of the carrier imp to all players.

Seeing as there are 2 new mounts and after reading the sif thread a bit more... I am starting to wonder that there might be 2 new characters. That would be even better. :(

found a better translation on the xbox forum for new combat system:

An alternative Fighting system will exist: "When you use a spell, normally all combat arts of the same discipline recharge at the same time; you have to use another. With this alternative model the regeneration time of the parent discipline will be much shorter, other areas however take longer to regenerate now. Therefore swapping between the combat arts doesn't benefit you much, but it's easier to specialise in one talent category. The combo chain will also allow five instead of four combat arts.

To be honest I can't see any reason why this expansion couldn't be sold on Playstation Network and Xbox Live. From what I've read in various sources only 20% of games that hit the shelves make a profit but most games that are released online on PSN and XBL make a profit. In fact Team 17 who developed Worms and Alien Breed have decided to only create game online now as the costs are so much lower. No packaging, distribution etc. If this expansion gets released online at Christmas I will be very happy!

I want to play as all the characters just for the excellent character quests. If this new Dragon Mage has a character quest plus 20 sidequests in each region, you could be looking at over 20 hours gameplay just on new content. Plus it will take time to learn what the best Combat Arts are. Like the new idea of faster regen times in one CA. That way you could specialise in one whole tree which if you think about it makes perfect sense than using a single CA in all 3 trees. Just looking at all the Combat Arts mentioned so far, I want them all! :)

EDIT: Not sure if anyone has posted this yet but here is the link to take you directly to the GameStar's site with all the info for the expansion. Any translations would be great! http://www.gamestar.de/spiele/rollenspiele..._ice_blood.html

I don't know how to insert pics in this forum but this is a link of a picture from the new expansion. If someone knows how to directly insert a picture into this topic then please feel free to use the link http://www.gamestar.de/_misc/images/detail...id=&pid=768 the picture isn't of a high quality but it's the new expansion woohoo! :)

Can anyone translate this for us please?

I came by this info - http://www.gamebanshee.com/news/static/Eku...pyFpwXgkwuK.php

I also hope the expansion will hit the shelves sometime soon, but this article isn't giving me much confidence in that...

Dobri, as that linked article says (& all of the other ones say), Kalypso have aquired some/most of Ascaron's IP, not all of them & not Sacred, so there's no reason to believe that the expansion won't be released.

I think that bit of german text is just saying that work on the expansion is going on as planned without change due to any difficulty caused by Ascaron's filing for insolvency. The website linked suggests a 3rd Quarter release date...not too far off

Edit: Well, Llama8 beat me too it... :)

Hope you are right. I can't imagine a life without Sacred....nah, just too scary to think of that right now lol

Knuckles, please, no more talk about having a life outside of Sacred! I spend more time in Ancaria than I do in real life! I am really hoping the quest to find the Halls of Ascarion is a hint to tell us that the devs are indeed working on Sacred 3.

So does anyone know how to put images directly into a topic? When I tried to put that link with the pic in it said I couldn't insert images from a dynamic page or something?

Cheers Dragon Brother for letting us know about the german text. Just from the few words I could translate it looks like you're correct that work is ongoing and has nothing to do with the insolvency problems. And 3rd quarter could be anytime from July-September so not long to wait anyway!

New Character: The Drachenmagier

I hope the new Dark Mage looks better than the parade float inquisitor

Drachenmagier = Dragon mage.

BTW, speaking of the Inquisitor... I hope he gets some strengthening. :)

Edit: Perhaps the new combat art system will help improve him...
