'The Archangel' Seraphim build

Recommended Posts

I know it's a late reply, and probably a rather beginner question but what do you mean by 'dblow'? I've found 2 possibilities and neither one really seems worth socketing (one shadow warrior, the other Temple Guardian). Otherwise I'm loving the build though still learning the game.

Dblow means Deathblow, definitely a worthwhile socketing option for a melee toon. It doubles the damage you do to a monster when their health falls below the percentage you have socketed.

Ty DB!

Deathblow indeed doubles damage. If you have ~70% DB, you will start doing double damage at 70% monster HP.

Please keep in mind, that when this build was created, DB worked on caster apects too ;) It doubled damage on Nova, Pillar and the like. With Ice and Blood, only melee and ranged aspects get the boost. Iirc, it also still helps Archangels Wrath.

Good to hear you are having fun with the build, and remember... here at FDM, there are no noob questions!

In interesting twists of fate... Just after reading your replies I got the first item I'd yet seen with Death Blow on it... an hour later I got another one. I don't have Ice and Blood so it should work beautifully on my spells as well. *Polishes halo and puts it back on the horns*

Heya

 Nice mod eh! Grats on the finds. You will find that it is prety common really. A Bargainer should be able to find some in any store.

Again, have fun with the build, and remember to bounce back here with questions! :D

Baneful Smite mods instead of Hallowed. I don't really see a need to upgrade hallowed. A pot works just as well if not better. Out of habit I'm always watching and potting when I don't need to sometimes anyway.

I"m interested in the force lightening. So far its a good combo with archangel for me. Has anyone tried out Baneful with Laggard - Confuse. I'm curious as to how well these debuffs will work on bosses.

Also since people keep saying Ice & Blood. I"m on PS3 so none for me :D.

Heya,

Can't say that I agree with this. For me, recuperation beats potting almost anytime. Low or High level. Especially since it is cast before damage occurs. It will instanly replenish. I am not saying that pots don't work, just that they do not heal as fast or instantly as recuperating Hallowed does. A health pot never beats a Dryad's GGT either, since the regeneration is way faster. There are instances when a health pot is needed anyway. But... when you get further into the game, mitigation takes over, and you would not even need Hallowed or pots.

A pot is only better in the lower part of your health bar, but that means that there is something else amiss. This toon does not need to get that low on health. With the right gear.....you can just sell all your pots.

As for modding on Baneful, I suggest checking Soldats Rev Tech build. It actually works quite well.

EDIT: just remembered that pre- Ice and Blood both Hallowed and Dashing were pretty bugged when in party or when having escorts. In those cases, they would be cast on others first.... So, when in party, you would not notice anything.

Aloha Barri, during my Internet withdrawals I ran something like this. Three aspect ranged lore build. Used a Death's Chirr with pelting. Until I got my hands on a CM-modded Sand Eagle (Desert Eagle).

Anyway my question is about the hallowed mini buff. I might have had mine modded wrong, but I didn't see it regen my health like GGT would have.

Now that you have hit the 200 marker with a seraphim what if anything would you change or do on this build in Ice&Blood?

Heya,

just ran a new seraphim... just to test. Recuperating Hallowed. Ran untwinked, not even smith arts, to level 15 without a single health pot. At level 7/8 even Kobold Chief.....

Recuperation modded Hallowed works in two steps:

1. Health pot like effect -> tooltip shows the amount. This gets quite high with a few runes. Just watch the tooltip.

2. Recuperation.... just let healt drop to 20% and you will see its effect. It is not as fast as GGT, but still darn good :D IF Halloweds first step fully regained your health... you can still see the slight damage and jumps to full health from recuperation. Neither does it last as long as GGT, but everything should be on the ground before it stops...

What I would change for Ice and Blood is actually listed in the first post. It is not really needed, but you could:

1. Change the Celes Lore to an extra defensive skill. (the hypnosis is what you are looking for, Nova/Pelting can/will do the rest)

2. Skipp toughness..... running DP is actually all the defense you need.

3. Conc for double buff

EDIT: Am actually rebuilding with the test toon.... using a different skills setup this time around. Boosting the Caster side of this toon by picking lores at 2 and 3 is better for levelling :)

There are tons of variation to a build like this.... I cannot say how to if I don't know what kind of build one is looking for.

Up till now, I made about 5 or 6 variations. Some of those are:

1. Full INT with dual INT weaps (worked best in pre-Ice and Blood)

2. Sword Lore instead of DW and swing a nice LL% Twohander

3. Full LL% and Mitigation build (bit boring and too easy)

So, in short, fully convinced this works like a charm.

Potentially odd question. I'm getting a lot of things with bonuses to skills I don't have (Mostly the Relics) is there actually any benefit from this for a skill you don't have (such as better chance of finding good items in the shop if you have bonuses to bargain on your relics or gear?) or is it just a wash?

level 58

1. Tactics Lore - 22

2. Exalted Warrior Focus -20

3. Dual Wield - 15

4. Revered Technology Focus 17

5. Armor Lore - 58

6. Celestial Magic Focus -14

7. Revered Technology Lore - 58

8. Constitution - 1

9. Toughness 1

Trying to decide where to go. I know I need some toughness. But my armor isn't that bad mostly sets I wanted. Tho I can't find Holy Protection for anything. I keep getting the SW chest. HR keeps me good, I can rapid cast it and live thru everything expect boss crits. With 51% DB my damage feels great. Even early on my melee damage feels just fine as well. So I haven't felt the need to drop more points in them.

I know toughness is a good route to go but the focus skills are really drawing me in. My semi buffs are almost there.

I just wanted to show people my spread of this build.

My playstyle is Pillar/Hallowed, Nova, pelting, rinse. I keep archangel on my X for those annoying single guys. Also keep a HR by itself on L2 layout for easy stacking. Haven't needed a boomstick for bosses yet. Favorite grind is the spiders in the lower swamp.

I still plan on taking EP for the last skill but won't be putting much into it yet.

Heya,

looks like you are getting to know the build :woot: Nice!

The minibuff will be sufficient defense. I boosted Tougness somewhat early on, to make her more solid when the minibuff wasn't chain-castable yet. When it does.... she shows glimpses of full potential :D

At that point, you could remove HR from the combo, as you'll have perm-DP.

Have fun!
