Darth Sion - Inquisitor Guide

Here's a build for you people to criticize, praise, glance over, or whatever you wanna do with it :D

Let me first start by saying I have not taken this build to Niob yet, currently in early platnium and kicking butt. I hope someone can continue this character into Niob and report some feedback for everyone. No deaths so thats definitely a positive so far. This is an all-around aspect build that can use all three aspects efficiently, allowing for fun gameplay. I've always liked the cool looking mount so I incorporated that into my build as well. This build eventually uses three buffs and fully utilizes all three aspects, with more of a focus on Astute Supremacy and Gruesome Inquisition. So without further ado...Meet Darth Sion, my Spider Ridin' Demon of Death

#1-Skills

#2-Attributes

#3-Combat Arts and Modifications

#4-Combos

#5-Buffs

#1-Skills

Level 2: Astute Supremacy Lore.pngAstute Supremacy Lore - This extra damage and mods from this skill will provide a good base at early levels for our character. It also improves cast speed so we don't have to watch the animation like we're in slow motion here. We take this in the early levels because our main combo- Clustering Maelstrom and Levin Array- needs a little damage boost as the game progresses. Without this skill the AS tree would stay less powerful than we want it to. Boy, do we like power.

Level 3: Dual Wield.pngDual Wield - We like dual wielding don't we? :) I've always had dual wielding on a character that could have it, and because the inquisitor is one of the few characters who can pick this skill as a primary skill, we pick this in the early levels too. This will increase our damage output by being able to dual wield TWO weapons and not just ONE. Damage, damage, damage...

Level 5: Nefarious Netherworld Focus.pngNefarious Netherworld Focus - This will decrease the regen times on our NN skills and will allow us to mod this aspect. The main reason we pick this skill is to have an all around build. I've never been a big fan of this aspect, but it does have some hander debuffers and cool Combat Arts that we can use when we get bored

Level 8: Astute Supremacy Focus.pngAstute Supremacy Focus - This will decrease the regen times for AS Combat Arts and allow more mod points. We pick this skill because we want to keep doing our amazing combos and being able to spam Levin Array is wicked cool.

Level 12: Concentration.pngConcentration - 2 buffs at the beginning and then 3 at mastery; this will help our build both defensively and offensively.

Level 18: Gruesome Inquisition Focus.pngGruesome Inquisition Focus - this will decrease GI regen times and add mod points for this aspect. This will also allow us to spam the powerful Combat Arts in this aspect. Because we're dual wielding, some of these Combat Arts even get two hits. The more damage we can dish out, the better.

Level 25: Armor Lore.pngArmor Lore - This will start on the defensive part of our build. Higher armor class, better armor rating and a decrease in our armor penalty= sweet. This is a very good skill that should be included in every build. It helps so many things that it will be a must for our slightly lacking defensive build.

Level 35: Constitution.pngConstitution - Extra hitpoints can never hurt, and for our Inquisitor they are very welcome. Eventually we will have HP regen in combat.

Level 50: Tactics Lore.pngTactics Lore - Will add damage output to our GI Combat Arts, weapons, and mods for GI. This will increase the damage we deal with our dual wield weapons, so you know the story by now. More damage=better. After some research, look at the option below.

OR

Level 50: Toughness.pngToughness - After reading many articles about damage mitigation, especially a very good one by soldats, I think this build could have a suggested change. While questing in the wastelands I was mobbed by those alien looking dudes that look like they came outta AVP. Was riding on my mount, and the mount died, and I survived after popping health pots. Manange to kill them all but this near death experience does not make me happy. Toughness being picked here might provide a better defensive end to the build. If you are all about damage though, go for Tactics.

Level 65: FREE SKILL PICK

Optional Skill Pick Level: At level 65 you can take whatever skill you like and what will benefit your personal build the most. I choose riding because I like my mount but you may choose whatever floats your boat. (Or whatever floats your build should I say...)

#2-Attributes

Vitality.pngVitality - 70%- Our survivability is very important, and this will go very nicely with constitution

Intelligence.pngIntelligence - 30%- Just a little bit of points here to boost some of our Combat Arts

#3-Combat Arts and Modifications

Callous Execution.pngCallous Execution

bleed->lacerate->judgement- Bleed for the damage over time, lacerate for the decrease in base hitpoint values, and judgement for the critical hits

Ruthless Mutilation.pngRuthless Mutilation

ire->petrify->frenzy- ire for extra damage, petrify for the chance to stun, and frenzy for the double hit

Mortifying Pillory.pngMortifying Pillory

Disgrace- only modify this to bronze because it is not as helpful as some of our other Combat Arts we need to modify

Frenetic Fervor.pngFrenetic Fervor

For this CA I think all the choices are based on personal playing experience so those can be up to you.

Purifying Chastisement.pngPurifying Chastisement

Mystic->Eradicate->Hallow- Mystic adds magic damage, eradicate increases chance for hits, and hallow increases the damage output. Upon research into the defensive mechanics of the game, I have also realized that inure could be more effective for those who want a little extra safety with their build. So, if you want more offensive go with hallow, for more defensive go with inure.

Levin Array.pngLevin Array

Disperse->Hesitation->Dynamic- Disperse for the increased angle (tested elongation and seems less effective, though I've heard otherwise), hesitation decreases attack speed, and dynamic increases the chance for crits

Clustering Maelstrom.pngClustering Maelstrom

Gravitation->Vortex->Vortex- Gravitation adds damage, and the two vortex mods increase the range of this CA immensely

Zealous Doppelganger.pngZealous Doppelganger

Incentive->Domination->Companion- Incentive for the increased defense and attack values, domination for the astute supremacy aspect being added to our doppelganger, and companion to make this a buff

Reverse Polarity.pngReverse Polarity

Sphere->Counterblow->Evade- Sphere for small Area of Effect damage, counterblow for melee reflection, and evade for increased defense value

Dislodged Spirit.pngDislodged Spirit

Spite->Deprivation->Stimulate- Spite for increased duration, deprivation to make this a strong debuffer, and stimulate to increase the rest of our CA regen times

Inexorable Subjugation.pngInexorable Subjugation

Effort->fanatic->probation- effort to increase the damage dealt faster, fanatic increases attack values of companions, and probation lengthens the lifespan of the companions

#4-Combos:

Area of Effect Mob Killer- Clustering Maelstrom.pngClustering Maelstrom +Levin Array.pngLevin Array

Debuffer- Mortifying Pillory.pngMortifying Pillory +Dislodged Spirit.pngDislodged Spirit

Boss Strategy- Debuffer+Callous Execution.pngCallous Execution , Callous Execution.pngCallous Execution , Callous Execution.pngCallous Execution

#5-Buffs

1st- Reverse Polarity- to make the build a bit more defense, and to add melee reflect which will will reflect tons of damage at higher difficulty levels. Also, the sphere upgrade might not seem like much, but it provides a very good passive Area of Effect damage effect.

2nd- Purifying Chatisement OR Soul Reaver- If you like damage go for Purifying Chastisement; If you like more defense and a small bonus to attack go for Soul Reaver

3rd- Zealous Doppelganger- Very weak at lower levels, but put a few runes on him and he'll be a nice asset to our build.

My final thoughts about the build as posted on the wiki.

Final Thoughts- It's been awhile since I first posted this build and have learned a large deal about the game that has helped builds I do in the future. While I feel that this was a very capable build, I feel that the following changes might make for a stronger character. I recommend taking the following skills is your a min/max type of player and want to really squeeze the juice out of this build.

Level 2: Tactics Lore

Level 3: Astute Supermacy Lore

Level 5: Dual wield

Level 8: Astute Supremacy Focus

Level 12: Concentration

Level 18: Armor Lore

Level 25: Gruesome Inquisition Focus

Level 35: Constitution

Level 50: Toughness

Level 65: Nefarious Netherworld Focus

Thanks for reading and enjoy :D

I'm curious as to why do you use Zealous Doppelganger over Soul Reaver for the third buff? In my experience, Soul Reaver always benefited me more because of the attack/defense boost. About the attributes, wouldn't it make sense to divert more points into intelligence in later levels since constitution raises HP and health regeneration?

Personal I do not believe that their is any synergy between Purifying Chastisement and Soul Reaver. Soul Reaver boosts your defense which means you'll get hit less often, so then in turn Purifying Chastisement does not give you any bonus as you must be taking hits to be granted the bonus. If you want to use soul reaver instead of Purifying go right ahead. From my experience on "console hard core" I need all the HP I can get. And the inquisitor raises intelligence every level, so I found that I only needed to put a few points in it.

I would suggest taking Eradicate over Merciless.

I did the math and hopefully still have the spreadsheet lying around if anyone wants it (I can re-find it otherwise) and with expected game conditions (meaning combinations of modifiers you'd expect to find and not some off the wall combination that'd be nearly impossible to get) Eradicate will always perform slightly better than Merciless (maybe only 3-4% more damage however by end game that could account for a hundred+ damage).

I definitely have to wonder about your choice of Purge based on your modification choices. Purge will only work on innate damage from gear (or from Smolder for Ruthless Mutilation), not any conversions from Lava Chunks. Levin array would benefit more from Mystic, as would a couple other CAs although they aren't listed in your combos.

Link to comment

If your findings on the Purifying Chastisement Mods are correct, then I will be happy to update. :) Question though: You said purge would only work on innate damage from gear, but wouldn't mystic also only work on innate damage? I seem to be missing something here :pitcher:

Right, but the point is, there are 2 CAs (LA and IS) that do magic damage. Both get the bonus associated with mystic. The only CA capable of doing fire damage is RM when modded with smolder, so unless you're looking to optimize RM damage, mystic will perform better. Neither one will modify damage conversions on weapons (lava rocks or magic pearls respectively), so weapon damage will be the same between them. Each one will modify weapon damage if the weapon does the correct elemental damage prior to socketing a converter, but that doesn't provide an edge to either option in terms of performance.

Doh...I had to read both the posts I few times until I got it. It is now updated thx :pitcher:

@MT: do you see anything else, as I know you are our Inquisitor specialist here on darkmatters

Nice guide ryan. Gratz on your build! Oh and I see you found the icon bbcode, hehe. :pitcher:

Haha, yes; found it cuz I was actually looking for the sacred2wiki link format and there was this cool icon format waiting for me at the bottom :)

I see. I didn't think much of Purifying Chastisement since I never use it. I wonder..would the Doppelganger benefit from Soul Reaver or will it be a fight for souls? Oh and what Combat Arts do you use against bosses? Under combos you only list a mob killer and debuff. So I assume you use the debuff followed by Callous Execution and Ruthless Mutilation?

Link to comment

@Neku: Yes, exactly what I use. If it's a boss, I use the debuff then spam away on my callous execution. Regen is like .7 secs.

@the1youh8: Yep, that's exactly the concept; you die, you delete

Looks like a pretty solid build to me. Personally, I'd miss CD because I love the RT-CM-LA combo, but you could probably achieve the same thing with RT followed by your CM-LA combo if you're quick. Either way, I'd try to find a way to incorporate RT somehow; its a pretty powerful CA, especially modded for lesion to reduce max HP. Of course, later on if you find that CM-LA isn't quite finishing the job (I had to sort out ways to boost the 3 CA combo from time to time to make sure it finished off what it hit, so I'd anticipate a 2 CA combo would be somewhat harder to get to work later on in platinum and into niob), you could switch to CM-RM. The weapon CAs simply scale better and without the 3rd AS CA in the combo, this would probably be more powerful/reliable later on.

I will offer a bit of caution though: if you're doing HC, I'd make sure to take your time and avoid rushing. Without Inure OR Toughness, I think you're fairly likely to bite it if you get ahead of yourself. I had only inure, but also boosted Vitality 100%, and did have a number of close calls along the way. I made it through platinum by the mid-90s but only started to dabble in Niob before my save file got corrupted and I had to start some new characters :bye: Anyway, its not so different from my build that I think you can't make it work; just be careful. Good luck!

Vitality.png Vitality- 70%

Intelligence.png Intelligence- 30%

exactly how much would this percent be number wise, estimate maybe? knowing how many points you get would help figuring this out,EX: 1 vit every 2 lvls...etc just more detail

Ah, well you get 401 points to spend over 200 levels. So that's 280 points in Vitality and 121 in Intelligence.

Levels 2-49, you get 1 point.

Levels 50-149, you get 2 points.

Levels 150-200, you get 3 points.

Over 200 levels, that's 401 points to divide.

He's simply going to put about 3 points into Int and 7 into Vit for every 10 points he gets. Putting the leftover in Int, by level 200, that would be 121 into Int and 280 into Vit. No one's about to do a level by level breakdown though :bye:

Great looking build Ryan! Dude, you have a flair for marketing. I loved the read, and your clever eye spied out this forum's little ability to display images from Sacred 2 with auto links to the wiki as part of the editing for all contributors ...NICE :bye: Cool that you and I have about the same build, though I didn't get to play as much with mine. Great to see that you managed to squeeze some seroius pwnage out of this, and I'm looking forward to more.

Game Pix if you got em!

Hi ryan, I just started playing sacred 2 on my PC though I bought this game for quite some time.... I found your inquisitor build and I'm trying to follow your build. May I request you to give a breakdown of how many attribute points should inquisitor build like when it reach level 25, 50, 75, 100 or sort... because I was quite confuse as I don't really know how many points should I add and fear that if I add wrongly, I fear that I may not be able to display the true power of this build and just waste my time on this game. anyway is there any way to reset all these skill points? sorry I'm a noob... find all these character build things quite complex... still wondering what are you all talking about... hahaa... attracted to your build for dual wield..... thanks ryan

Hey there thangjx, glad you like the build. Well, a breakdown of attribute points would be very hard at this point because I haven't kept track of attributes. The easiest, and most unfrustrating way to do this is put 7 vitality points and 3 Intelligence points every 10 levels. The other thing I'll add is that if you add wrong attribute points, it won't destroy or cripple your build; so don't worry, it's more of a general guideline. And no, there is no way to reset skill points. Don't worry, everyone was a noob at some point :)

Like most other characters; this is a build that takes a bit of leveling to reach it's true potential. The beginning might be rough, but the outcome is pure victory. Also, I would like to add that this character did not use a shopping network nor a smither in Niob; this is just to prove that this build can be successful even for those who do not have other characters in the higher difficulty levels. Best of luck gaming to all :)
