Do you like this girl?

I guess not. She isn't that pretty, not armor-wise that is. Maybe the panties... But all Seraphims can get such panties. However, there is one thing that is very, very special about her. She is level 140 and cannot take ANY damage - let alone be killed. The immortality that soldats was talking about in his build has been unequivocally proved today.

This is why:

Everything.jpg

This sums up to:

mitigation.jpg

And adds to:

toughness.jpg

for a total of 97.8% fire/ice/magic/poison damage mitigation and way over 100% physical damage mitigation.

And she even has a shield to mitigate the 2.2% fire/ice/magic/poison damage left!!

shield.jpg

And the result? Immortality. I tested it against the 4 guardians in niobium. I killed 1 and had the other 2 (1 pure physical and the 1 with phys/magic/fire damage) to whack at me for over 5 minutes. Her shield never went down a notch.

You can check this out for yourselves. I've uploaded a rar archive on easyshare with the char herself. Note that since I was doing an accelerated test, I was playing with 25x XP and 5x drops in order to ensure that I had good equip to do it. This is why her survival bonus is about 30% - I won't spend a few weeks bringing up a char from scratch when I can do this in 3 days (and still have a lot of fun), especially because I'm not bragging or showing off - I'm just proving a theory.

If you try out the file, you will notice that I tried to achieve this without hurting the build in any way. You will see a lot of + all skills, a lot of + all combat arts, a lot of +aspect, some +warding energy shield and such - along the damage mitigation. You will also see that I shopped a lot to ensure good items. The helmet, for example. It outweighs the usefulness of the seraish helmet big time and has +1 all Combat Art more than it. The Officer's saber can be improved in a manner so that it becomes better than the Tinwora's provided you find appropriate socketables. The several stacked +all skills are a treasure to behold - but not as much as the armor and the shoulders. They ARE SIMPLY AMAZING. The body armor has one high grade and 1 mid grade damage mitigation traits stacks (high-grade is 15.0%, mid grade is 13.5%, low grade is 11.1%) to a total of 28.6% all channel DM (rounded up). The shoulders have 10.8% physical damage mitigation trait on top of a high-grade all channel DM trait (15.0%) and 2 silver sockets! Sheesh!!

This is the download link:

http://www.easy-share.com/1907410225/Celeste.rar (should be 10.5KB)

EDIT: OMG. I didn't realize so much waiting time is necessary, but I had nowhere else to upload it freely...

Unrar these 2 files and back up your hero03 file. Then paste it into your My documents\Ascaron Entertainment\Sacred 2 folder and enjoy :D

(NOTE: GOGO - I'm not resizing, nor making thumbnails for a reason!)

EDIT 2: I played her more like a jumpy-jumpy build - spamming FN rather than AW. This explains the fact that I sort of neglected AW's regen time.

Dumb question coming at you,

what is damage mitigation?

I understand what it is to mitigate something or for something to be mitigated, but in the context of this game and different damage types I'm at a loss.

Damage mitigation is a part of the damage that goes away BEFORE any damage is calculated and substracted from your HP. For example you have:

75% damage mitigation from + all channel (meaning ALL elements) damage mitigation and + toughness

and take 5000 damage.

5000 - 75% = 1250

This means all calculations will start at 1250, which is a serious chunk of the damage you would have taken out, isn't it?

BTW Dobri... if you're curious. To take 1 point of damage to your shield (I.e to overcome the block) you would need the enemy to deal 29,454.54545... damage (assuming your armor reduced it by half, if you had 0 armor at all it would only need to be 14.Xk or so. And that of a single element.

Interesting :) I was hoping that the guardians can provide that much damage, this is why I tried to take at them. And... I sort of forgot I had a better Tanit's Collar which improves the DM with 0.8%... But that's irrelevant.

Thanks for the numbers. I'll try to find a mob that can provide that much damage.

is it like fun to play for you now? :/

I don't play her... it was just a test to see how quickly soldats' build can achieve immortality - pretty much for fun. I don't get much online time since my cousin is here and I play SP when I can. I think I can shave off a few more levels (without hurting the char that is), provided I can get stacked high-grade all channel damage mitigation on both armor and wings - it's around 13% in platinum, so about 26% each, the wings had about 11.1% in platinum, the glacial defender had around 11.1% as well. I had about 18% from toughness, but I can push it to 19 if I can get stacked +all skills... So this is 2x26 = 52 + 2x11.1%=74.2% +18% = 92.2%. All I need is a few Tanit's collars (2 should suffice) with 2.5% DM (level 129) an I'll have 97.2% (should be more if I socket them in gold sockets, so about 97.8%) damage mitigation not counting the warding energy mitigation stat.

However, I can't dismiss the fact that this shopping took more than 15 hours to get a stacked mitigation on both armor and shoulders (and the shoulders didn't have the proper mitigation) and suffice to say it's a very tedious job.

  • 2 months later...

Just saw a spider reading this topic this morning. I don't know how it got through under my radar when you first wrote this Dobri.

It's a fantastic explanation of the mechanics.

K... I'm gonna drag you over to the Wiki in the next few days so you can write down this great stuff for the masses!

If you are doing it, you could bring my clumsy tries about damage mitigation=virtual hitpoints and how armour values reduces damages into readable english too. It's in the demigod thread in the genertal guide section who deals with mitigation not only at serafim.

Currently I have to do homeworks, my older daugthers have the homework to ask their parent how they remember the opening of the german german wall 20 years ago.

Well, gogo contacted me about it, he'll set up the pages, and I'll try to be as descriptive as possible. The only thing is that I won't be able to crediting anyone, since wiki is open source and completely voluntary... Unless I misunderstood something.

Link to comment

Nah, I don't want credits. I just wanted to say that I did some maths for the case if you have to decide between toughness and constitution, at which numbers of mitigation toughness would be the better choose. I named the calculation virtual hitpoints in lack of better words. A full channel mitigation of 50% would result in that you can receive double the damage. 100% more Hitpoints would have the same effect. So mitigation can be considered virtual hitpoints. In the same thread I did some maths how armour is reducing the damage. I need someone who will do it into some understandable english;)

AWesome Dobri for being able to help on this, I've just sent you the pm with the new blank page I've created in the wiki for Damage Mitigation:

http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php5?title...amp;action=edit

Which is rooted from the mechanics page here:

http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php5/Sacre...and_Game_Basics

(ps btw if anyone gets a hankering to want to add or edit that combat and game basics page to for it )

And correct, Wiki is open source so credit is via history in the history tabs, this way it's carte blanche for anyone to be able to edit or add to another's work easily. Chattius, after Dobri has brought over to the wiki the work he's compiled in his topics here, if you have time, perhaps you could add reference information as well if you have time? Wiki articles are always best with multiple collaboration going on, and this way the information is referenced well, checked and verified.

:)

Well, I've started working on it. I can combine both mine and chattius' work (this way I'll only need a second glance and some corrections), or I can only add my part. It's all the same to me, I have a spare night here :)

Thanks for doing the work. At the first glance I see no mistakes.

Stuff which I would add but need to be confirmed first:

Mitigation comes befor armour? The way the armour reduction works means that too low armour for a fixed damage value could result in receiving more damage than is seen in damage from enemy in last kill. In niob being hit with nearly no armour could result that the received damage is tripled. So Damage mitigation can have a double effect: It reduces the damage and then this reduced damage is put into the armour formula. So a 50% mitigation could theoretically reduce your damage by 80% at optimal armour/damage values.

My daughter found a set shield in the AddON yesterday: at level 90 10% multichannel mitigation and 2 times blockchance in red, affected by shield lore. The shield was named Kira something. Sadly our current characters are all polearm ones. When we find some time I will look at the stats with a shield lore character. Could perhaps be a good alternative for the unique ice shield.

It`s a heckuva lot of work that got put on the page, eeeeeeeeeeeee lol, lots to edit, but I like it. I`ll attack it tonight when I get home, change the tense to third person, and formatit with links and reference in all the items in the game that have it.

Chattius, question, do you have decent definition on the piercing item mod ? which empty space is here on Wiki:

I know you have done some work with it, I can copy in what you can help us with as definition or, if you want you can add it to wiki yourself ?

:(

Yes. If there are no Sets with mitigation you can get multichannel mitigation on torso and shoulder on yellow stuff. Then the unique ice shield has it and a mini-set shield in the Addon.

But the Serafim has all of the above and can have it on wings.

Not to inject something impure into an otherwise innocent subject (but an incendiary choice of words for the topic :paladin: ) Yes. I never have appreciated a butt quite like I did in this particular topic.

It's a great butt, yet what you are able to do with it, make it invulnerable to any kicking whatsoever, that makes it an even better one :P.

So you can't die? Hmm..must be boring especially in HC since what's the purpose? If you can't lose what you have and have achieved hack'n'slash purpose so to say..unless there are some killer enemies in Niob with invisibility and a lot of life leech damage.
