Melee High Elf? WHAT?!

Hello.

I have been wanting to make a melee class that uses a 2H-Sword. But I already have a Seraphim and 2 Shadow Warriors. So, I thought I would try out a melee HE (MAGIC COUP).

To give you a rough idea of the build I've been thinking about: (Keep in mind I want to be able to take alot of damage)

Combat Arts:

Arrant Pyromancer:

- Blazing Tempest

- Modifications: Scorch (dmg), Spell Flow (-regen.), Ambition (+crit%)

Mystic Stormite:

- Glacial Thorns

- Modifications: Frost (dmg), Devastation (+crit%), Fusillade (+thorns)

- Cascading Shroud

- Modifications: Mist (-phy.dmg), Inconspicuous (-detection), Steam (-fire vul.)

- Crystal Skin

- Modifications: Glacial Mirror (spell reflect), Focalize (+Combat Art inten.), MSE (regen.)

Delphic Arcania:

- Magic Coup

- Modifications: Heavy Damage (dmg), Life Leech, Stray Damage (hit nearby)

- Shadow Step

- Modifications:

- Grand Invigoration

- Modifications: Phase Shift (-cooldown), Sanctuary (invul.), Mend (heal)

Skills:

1. Delphic Arcania Lore

2. Sword Weapons

3. Mystic Stormite Lore

4. Tactics Lore

5. Armor Lore

6. Constitution

7. Combat Reflexes

8. Enhanced Perception

9. Speed Lore

10. Spell Resistance

My questions is: Can High Elves even use 2H-Swords?

I played polearm elves. But in my opinion a melee elf doesn't need a weapon lore.

Weapon lore:

mastery won't do double hits for magic coup

attack speed is useless for magic coup since it gets it from arcane lore

level malus is useless since it only affect the 'useless' attack speed

hit chance with base x attack value you get from magic coup, it climbs with better magic coup anyway

So the only remaining reason would be to unlock weapon modifiers.

Read the shield maiden in guide section.

You play on console, consider to keep magic coup at its malus and use regeneration per hit to recharge combinations.

Chattius, that thread you have on SIF is really great ref info for the High Elf. If you have time, do you think you'd be able to break it up into smaller guides here for the HE section at DarkMatters? Even as general info... with a good title to drive the quary, I think it'll be very helpful to players.

:)

I am getting old, totally forgot that I started to bring this up here a,ready. But I hadn't kept it up to date because I had no time to play melee elves in the AddOn. So not much writing about reg per hit. I add the old darkmatters article at the end of this post.

Personally I consider the shield maiden as a more flexible character than a pure melee elf. My best pure melee build, pre AddOn means not for regeneration per hit, and which is mainly the first not edited SIF article:
