Capt. Bloodtongue, can't finish it even though it shows done !

Recommended Posts

I have finished the first two parts of this multi-part quest.

"The Missing Scout" and "Reporting to Rengelwyn"

But the last quest (Bloodmouth Must Die) Does not have a green check mark on it But on the Tasks side of the Log book it shows Captain Bloodtongue defeated. But there is NO Green check on it.

When I leave the cave and talk to Rengelwyn he just says "He can't be far away! Finish him off once and for all!"

Now I have gone in the game and out of the game several times and it doesn't change.

I have run into the cave and back to the spot where Capt. Bloodtongue should be at, which is just to the left near the Doors to the secret section But he's never there.

I'm sure I did not portal out of the cave when I killed the Capt. As I have heard and read that on some quests when you complete them in a cave not to portal out because it might screw up the quest and not mark it as complete when it actually was.

Sooo how can I finish this quest?

Has anyone else experienced this issue with this quest?

I think this has been covered some where else before, not sure where unless go looking. What version yourself running.

I did a search here and on the sacred2 "official" site but found nothing

I'm using Sacred 2 Ice and Blood Ver 2.65.1

Well, I'm playing with the CM patch so quests rarely break irrevocably, but I've had my problems with this one before.

The issue seems to surface when I F8 out of the cavern. Apparently entering and exiting the the cave entrance is necessary to make the quest update properly.

A few caves are like that, one in the desert tied to the main quest on light springs to mind - you actually have to go back into cave and exit it again to reset that one. Its best, if the quest is in a cave, not to warp out. As game does get confused at this point.

In the past, when I did this quest, I wouldn't warp out as normally I only save at 1st village and up until Ice and Blood, you couldn't just warp to portals from map, so getting back to the cave was a long walk (Now I save game at the beach res shrine).

I mentioned this in my original post....I did NOT warp or portal out of the cave.

Can't help you with how to finish. :D Once you exit a cave or teleport the game automatically saves and going in and out of the game will not change the saved game. Since you cannot save more than one game with a specific character there is no way to go back and redo a quest. Teleporting on the surface between areas with an escort quest will also sometimes show as completed but the circles will still be on the map. Just going back over the intended path after dropping off the escort will clear the map and correct the log usually.

One workaround to the one saved game situation is to save a copy your saved game to another directory prior to undergoing a particularly difficult quest. You can then reload the copy if the quest goes wrong. :)
