Archangel's Wrath and % LL pole sword shuriken

How would this compare with the salvo mod 2 bolts for bringing down a boss?

Compared to Pelting Strikes?

I suppose a combo of the two would be good? Anyone tried AW with %LL? I hypothesize that the animation would be faster for AW spammage than Pelting spammage..... = more hits and %LLs per second... Plus you could avoid tactics lore if you really wanted.

Hey there cladius, me and Etherian were doing boss runs yesterday and we're both using AW to take down bosses. I'm currently using a pole arm with 1.1% LL and it works wonders. Where before I could barely put a dent into a boss, I was now owning them flat on their faces. So I say yes, it is better then pelting because of all the reasons you mentioned :(

P.S. If you want we can jump into a server now and I can show you

Agree Ryan, I noticed a difference soon after you started your AW with %LL. The animation is much faster, therefore, claudius is right, much more damage per second.

claudius for the takedown! ;)

I never got very far with seraphim so maybe etherian or ryanrocker will stop by. For the %LL archangel bossfarming you need to avoid dying and manage to hit the boss.

Automatically to mod archangel you are going to need revered lore or focus. If you went this route you could also use and energy shield and divine protection to help stay alive against bosses. Toughness armor and constitution. Damage mitigation might make you invulnerable at high levels if you stack it. seraphim gets a lot of mitigation from gear and toughness gives mitigation.

For the offense to hit the boss you could try battle stance modded which would also give melee reflect. I think a better neat trick would be to mod BFG for %chance enemy cannot evade attacks. BFG really gets a huge amount of this modification. You could just throw up the BFG for bosses and take the -recharge mods (if only used for boss.. otherwise take damage). Bosses is all about %LL and if you only use BFG for boss the %cannot evade is what is useful.

This is all untested by me of course haha.

Ok my theoretical bossrunner

in no particular order:

Revered Focus

Revered Lore (this increased speed of archangel wrath rather than weapons skill)

Concentration

Armor

Warding Energy Lore (mod shields with combat art reflect)

Toughness

Constitution

I think at high level with mitigation stacked the mitigation is high and mitigation gets progressively better more you can get. Going from 0 to 20 mitigation cuts damage by a small amount but going from 60 to 80 cuts in half. Energy shields are not that strong until high levels at which point they are massive. If you have niob smith arts you can socket anneals until you get high level. With some niob whets you could just exist as BFG for awhile even without tactics lore. And then there are three open skills to do whatever.

maybe combat reflexes to help with melee damage

maybe spell resistance to help with spell damage (crit and status effect)

maybe EP to item find

maybe bargaining

maybe tactics/Exalted warrior to make it a BFG build

etc

-evasion ring gives a different type of mod than %chance cannot evade and will also help to hit things.

Battle Stance also helps hit, but the thing is it gives %attack chance and that can be duplicated easily with whets whereas the bang for buck of %cannot evade is pretty steller relative to what you can just socket. So I haven't tested but I think BFG is actually a more powerful 'to hit' tool (against boss) than Battle stance.

Did I mention that I haven't tested these ideas out! :Just_Cuz_12:

I couldn't see anything in here where it says that you are asking for thought's on this build, but it seems clever, the BFG idea in particular I like. Taking it for hit chance is definitely useful.

As to your mitigation comment, its percentage based so going from 0 to 20% reduces damage you take by 20%, as does increasing mitigation from 60% to 80%, so while it it halves the damage you are are taking it reduces it by as much as the first 20% does. Just to prevent confusion...

I'll always chime in if there's something to add ;)

Hrm... good idea about BFG, but... Battle Stance should be the second buff... so Exalted Warrior focus is needed. BS adds good defence and damage as well as %atk/def.

Also, the atk/cast speed increasing skill (drawing a total blank, duh.... forget the name of it) is super-handy with 2H weapons... if you have EWF, then there should be available modification points for it.

This will limit BFG usage until after conc. is mastered, which is just fine as the Celestial buff sucks (generally).

Another tricksy thing with BFG (but not using it)... if you have Ranged weapons skill, and use a LL% shuriken, you'll get a huge boost to attack value, speed, etc.. from BFG. Heh.. it's not much, but it's better than a little damage against some undead or t-mutants, lol.

I believe you're looking for "Dashing Alacrity".

Figured I would fill in that one blank to complete your sound advice.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, I figured chance to hit mods are gonna be useful. I'm at level 37 - I took celestial focus (or Lore?), for radiant pillar and healing - hallowed restoration. Read on Roosters immortality thread how good it was ( playing pre add-on). Though I prob could/should have taken warding energy Lore.

Mostly using pelting strikes, flaring novas and pillars on early levels, figured Archangels wrath is gonna be more useful later difficulties.

Skills I've taken @ level 37

Tactics

EP

Armour

Concentration

Constitution

Rev Focus

Celest Lore

Polearms

Gonna take Rev Lore for casting speed of AW

10th - I'm not sure - prob. spell resistance.

Casting BFG and then use a pole arm, sneaky... I like it. :)

Augmint, I think the idea here is to use Archangel's Wrath simply as a delivery system for LL% against bosses. It probably will not be very helpful against mobs.

I'm not sure what to take for dashing alacrity. Chattius tested out what affects what for speeds. One finding was that revered lore affects speed of archangel wrath. So I think you can max speed of archangel wrath just with revered lore. I don't remember from Chattius thread how the mods, casting speed and attack speed, affect archangel.

Yeah, I knew the OP was talking about strictly boss runs, I just wanted to try out a Polearms seraphim as I've got a level 118 Shadow warrior and figured she could use the (LL % polearms) hand me downs.

I think I may go with Warding energy lore as my 10th skill, never used it/ explored it at all.

I have done one pole arm Seraphim and I was pleased.

For the AW/LL%, I would keep a LL% pole arm and a low level AW modded for Salvo and Lock, and only break them out for bosses. Endijian's Winds plus the Celestial set would boost your LL% even more.

I always include Warding energy Lore if I am doing an energy shield build.
