Toy Story 13

heh, I think pretty much any landscape devoid of snow is enough to make me giddy. This was certainly one of the most memorable winters here, I don't know where all the weather came from, but (and I'm crossing me fingers here) I'm hoping that the season's are finally changing!

Teddy bears

Teddy's are a dime a dozen.

Next time you see a teddybear on street: do full braking and look if it is an original Steiff. Some model/year combinations do thousands of euro at an auction.

My old steiff teddy would be around 350 euro collectors price nowadays. My mother kept all my toys all the years and it was only around 12 german marks back then for the teddy. The history club in her village did a 1960ties exhibition and my mom added some toys. A toy collector said she should watch for them, the teddy would be around 350, and the doll of my sister around 250, being a Bild Lilli Doll (american visitors to germany copied it and named it Barbie) ...

Toys are expensive if they have high quality, but as long I have room in a barn to keep the ones of our kids I will do it. Perhaps in future a single doll will be enough to buy Microsoft ;)

Weather

First rain for weeks today. We had only 13% of the rain compared to normal years. Monday I planed to do some garden work and stopped. The spade wasn't reaching wet ground with more than half of the blade in. Soccer training for our third was cancelled because the red sand field was producing red sand storms when playing. No watering allowed because water reservoir is low, and this in an area which is famous for storm and rain. So the whole team did bicycle tours.

It is hard to go into spring feelings if the gras is not growing and is rather grey than fresh green all around you. Luckily the flowers with onions have enough water in them to add some colour. Hope I see fresh green at weekend.

I'm with Gogo on the "finally" comment...

It has been a very nice spring, with the weather making the melt go very smoothly (no rain, and the temperature drops below freezing every night still)... but that has prolonged the snow; and only wind-blown, south-facing hills have ground showing.

Robins were sighted just this week, so finally spring is here. :bounce:

Considering it snowed on the first day of spring, I can also say spring is FINALLY here, dreary skies and all. ;p Well, maybe not so much for the bear, but...

I am deeply ashamed of the uncaring attitude shown by you lot of miserable doofuses! Have you no compassion, no sense of caring for others apart from your selves, no Good Samaritan instincts? :twitch:

Not one of you even mentioned the need to rescue that helpless Teddy Bear from almost certain death as it lies there in harms way. Unable to drag its poor, wet, weary body to the safety of the side of the road. Helpless to defend itself from uncaring drivers who would think nothing of squishing the poor thing and strewing its stuffing across the road! Unable to protect itself against any vagrant dog who might spot it and rend it limb from limb!

May the curse of the Great Gummy Bear infect all your underwear and/or lingerie with itching powder and may you suffer the untold horrors of itchiness until you learn compassion for helpless Teddy Bears!

Heh... funny story, Podgie..

but I was more concerned for the little girl who almost wandered into traffic to rescue her 'friend'.

While I was handing her back to her parents (who seemed to be distracted by a loose dog) and accepting their gratefulness for saving their child, the mangy mutt came along and ran off with "Fred"... to make a long toy story short, I never caught up with that stray and Fred was lost forever.

Not to worry, though! I believe that the dog was more interested in love than war

Havent you watched toy story 2 podgie? The toys all make it across the road, they simply have to wait until noone is looking! Or hide under some witches hats (traffic safety cones, Im not sure the term witches hats is universal...).
