Ikkle Dryad Duel Wield Knives

hey hey I made a little melee DW dryad and was wondering about weapon choice, my idea was to

make a little assassin toon, but im wondering about the usefullness of knives, I know the skills will boost damage and with DW im not supposed to get any other weapon skill(if daggers even has 1) but I like her running round with her little daggers stabbing stuff up :P

and right now I am considering changing to axes(as I already have a dual wielding sword seraphim), as the damage for my daggers is pathetic, like my char is only like level 7-10 and the axes I have been piccking up have almost double the damage range of the daggers im using.

before I progress any farther into the unknown with the daggers I thought id ask for a few opinions :)

so

1,are the daggers worth it? or should I go axe?

2,are there any good 2,3 maybe even 4 star daggers? (with LL%)

as of so far I think my charachter has taken

level 2 - tactics lore

level 3 = EP

Level 5 = DW

level 8 = (its fighting choice between armour lore, and combat reflexes as at level 12 I was planning to have both)

but yeh any help will be greatly appreciated (and if non of that makes sence just ask and ill try and refraise it :) im still new to the whole thing and am still trying to learn the lingo :P )

Peace ! Chim !

FWIW, knives suck wind when it comes to damage - especially in comparison to other weapon types. There are only one or two unique (3 star) knives in the Sacred Wiki database. I think I found one, maybe two Legendary/Epic/4 star blades there as well. Given the odds of getting one of those being close to somewhere between Slim and None - and Slim left town - you're probably better off looking at a different class of weapon. Pretty much anything else will beat it as far as damage dealt is concerned. I'd consider blowguns myself. They have better damage, possibility for life leech, and the benefit of shooting projectiles at your enemies from a distance - and having the projectile making contact with them immediately. If you can get the number of shots per second up, you can quite literally spam blowgun darts at your enemies and watch them fall like logs.

Of course, that's just my 2 cents worth..

I was thinking of making a DW knives build myself. Item modifiers are interesting, and they have nice attack speed, pleasing animation. Definitely possible to get to Niobium with a build like this, and it was one I had been looking at when first starting this game.

We all know that base damage is important, but as the blowpipes teach us very quickly, the low damage weps that hit repeatedly like mosquitoes have turned the dryad into, arguably, one of the highest DPS builds in Sacred 2.

Keep us posted as to how your investigation turns out here, maybe we'll have some more input from the build mechanics experts chiming in with their ideas as well. With a seeming infinite number of builds ideas to pull out of this amazing game engine, getting better from what can be perceived to be less than is where the challenge for vets is.

Good luck!

I want to try and keep it strictly mellee based so if I need to change weapons it was going to be axes. but I think im gunna try and keep at this dagger business, thank you for your comments though :)

I will try and keep here updated as much as I can, and yeh I mean I was considering power leveling this char with VD, and decided against it as the best part of playing a game like this is each time you level you feel as if you have accomplished something and you can test your build as you make your way through the game, instead of just using VD and running round in a big grid on the map then just waiting for things too die (sounds boring to me).

but yes on that note I shall stick to knives for now, untill I start having trouble then I will have to re-think the situation ^^

Peace!

I'm actually really excited to see how this build turns out. I"m not sure, but I don't think I've seen a Duel Wield Knives build done yet or posted for Dryad.

This could be the first, and I'd be interested in your mechanics.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think I read in the GSF that animation and attack speed of every two weapon combination is same: So 2 knives would be same speed as 2 swords, as 2 axes, as sword and axe... I played a TG with ONE knife and it seemed that one hand fighting (and weapon/shield) the weapon classes have different animation speeds.

The damage should be enough, given that even a Kungfu is playable in Niob with carefully choosing good "damage x-x/nice second modifier' rings.

Ok well I got to about level 20 last night just trying to follow the storyline along,

and im in the human lands just killed the first boss guy.

so far I have taken

Skills

Level 2 Tactics Lore.pngTactics Lore

Kept it at my level and thats how it plans to stay untill mastery and maybe beyond :)

Level 3

Enhanced Perception.pngEnhanced Perception

Took it to 5 specifically for bargaining. I think its about 10-11 levels higher than my char.

Level 5

Dual Wield.pngDual Wield

As per usual lol :) to aid in the shankings.

Level 8

Nature Weaver Lore.pngNature Weaver Lore

just so I could get AB all modded up (survivability)

Level 12

Bargaining .pngBargaining

Ok I know I was gunna take, Armour Lore or Combat Reflexes but I dont have a shopper (as my other char is a level 37 DW Seraphim whos only about 75% of the way through silver and she doesnt have Bargaining so I thought it might be usefull.

Level 18

Combat Reflexes.pngCombat Reflexes

Just for that extra bit of help with the champions and mini bosses as I will explain in a second

At 25 I plan on getting Hunter Lore and Hunter Focus to start working on the regen times of my Combat Arts and after that its anybodies guess, whatevers needed at the time.

Combat Arts

Ravaged Impact.pngRavaged Impact

Mods: Envenom, Reach, Blast

Darting Assault.pngDarting Assault

Mods: Edge, Throwback, Rotate

Sinister Predator.pngSinister Predator

Mods: Eagle Eye, Marked Shot, Hunting Focus

Goldenglade Touch.pngGoldenglade Touch

Mods: Flow, Perservere, Diligence

Ancient Bark.pngAncient Bark

Mods: Rugged, Divert, Invigorate

Ok I dont have all of them modded yet, but thats the plan, I think I have DA fully modded (for the mobs ;) ) and I have AB modded upto divert and Ravaged impact modded to envenom, but thats so far.

Ok so overall the charachter works quite well at level 14 or 15 I went to try and kill the Kobolt Boss, and on my way there the kobolts and there champions were easy I was killing like 5-6-7 of them at a time with Darting assault, like 1 hitting them, and then when I got to the boss, I just couldnt damage him, I mean tbh he couldnt damage me either but id of been sat there all night I think I got his health to 3/4 he stunned me and by the time I could attack again he had full health, so I just give up with that idea untill I can get some serious damage out of the build. which shouldnt take long, my daggers I had at 15 were bad dmg, was like 28-38 on both, and as I did the blind guardian quest (which was awesome btw, didnt even realise they were in the game) I got the drumstick which was 3-4 slots I think so I kept that up untill the little stable on my way to griffinborough were I found two double slotted stilletos which were 38-50 I think (bargaining is a god ;) ).

like I said the charachter is good (and quite fun to play with, she hits so damn fast lol) over than the trouble with the damage at the beginning and finding daggers (hooray for bargaining) everything works just fine, the damage at the moment isnt really a problem, as like I said she hits so fast that I can run into a group of monsters and iv killed 3-4 of them before iv even been attacked :) which cant be bad I suppose.

and as for plans go, I was considering trying to go for two daggers with chance to ignore armour % and Critical chance % (based on while trying to fight the kobolt boss, the only damage I was really doing was coming from crits, and Combat Arts and the damage from crits was quite good, I think around that point against the boss I was hitting meybe 50-60 each hit and criting for about 150 so if I can get the chance high enough then maybe that will aid with the damage), and for my armour, im going to make, a Magic Find set (apologies for using magic find :P but its the easyest way) and as for my damage set, either aiding with the crits and armour ignoring or death blow? (tell me if thats right im still unsure on death) and throw in some life leach and +Combat Arts and im away :P

so hopefully come next time I update on her status she will be an armour ignoring, critical dealing sly ninja dryad ^^ stabby stabby stabby :P

Peace!

P.S. Pardon my poor grammar :P

According to the wiki

Types

Sword weapons consist of:

Swords

Barsteward Swords - animation speed same as swords at equivalent attack speed.

Daggers - animation speed about 25% faster than swords at equivalent attack speed.

Sabers - animation speed same as swords at equivalent attack speed.

Short Swords - animation speed about 15% faster than swords at equivalent attack spee.

Two Handed Swords - animation speed about 5% slower than swords at equivalent attack speed

not sure about dual wielding them but id of thought it was the same unless DW modifies the weapons when it lets you pick two, plus alot of the knives iv found so far come with attk speed % bonuses as standard.

Ah ha, Chattius, mechanics master!

I wanted to ask...what are the cool things for you of using knives in this game? I know Leech is the big thing...but sometimes getting down to basics is just plain ole fun, like your spider girl builds.

I'm just curious how the devs specced the daggers in this game to make them competitive

Ahh chatius if your the mechanics master then you might be able to help me :) or anyone else :)

im just sat trying to work out wether increasing my crit and armour ignore % would be beneficial to my toon.

and with dex

if say at level 10

base dex for a dryad is 30 and you get a 10% increase every level

then at level 10 I should have

30+(3*9)+ 9 (being the 1 point im adding each level) = 66

obviously thats not including any bonuses, but my question is how much extra attack would that give me?

and as for crit

from tactics law

(using level 10 as an example)

I would gain 2% extra crit damage

but say I socketed some extra crit chance (say an extra 2% for arguemants sake)

so thats:

2% + 2% = 4%

being that im taking it as 4% outta 100.

so if I attacked a monster 20 times I would crit less than once ?

just making sure im doing this right, as im not the best mathmatician and am just relying on information I can find on here and the wiki :)

and any referance that you can post so I can check and keep myself on the straight and narrow would be a help :)

Peace!

The TG was a deadly spears variant which used left click knife attacks for RegPerHit. If I would create a build around knives: armour piercing ...but the dryad has it in a combat art already, That's the way the Kungfu does its pure physical damage. To unlock armour piercing on knives sword lore would be needed in most cases.

  • 1 month later...

Ancrid's blade is a (almost) top tier shortsword that drops readily. It has 3 sockets and a big dexterity bonus. With bark %defense that would add a higher defensive value.

I might take Damage Lore and Wield a fire and poison blade dishing out Damage over time. Sounds like a fun time!
