Stand ye back! gogo p.s. btw, k... all that aside, here's there official memo We're scheduling the reboots on our Echo, Fresco, and Cypress servers for tomorrow, Sunday, January 30th, 2010 at 11:00 PM EST to 11:59 PM EST(GMT-5). Each server should be offline no more than 5 to 7 minutes however we've scheduled the full hour as we'll be rebooting the servers one at a time and ensuring that there are no unexpected issues. IT IS FOOTAGE FROM ARCHIVE This is like the coolest update to me noggin all day (albeit it's just the morning lol) and has amped this movie's trailer to an even better level for me. Though I doubt that it would change any of my plans anyway. It would be 9 to 10am on Monday in my time zone (GMT +5) when the servers would be rebooting. Just exactly the time when I'm supposed to show everybody that I pay a lot of attention to my work (in order not to make my boss angry). Which is incredibly hard to do since I have no tasks assigned to me at the moment. But anyway... Yay for the new Super-Servers! Link to comment

Actually stats from our provider is that it is technically gonna be about no more than ten minutes, but they have scheduelled the full hour anyway just to cover all possible contingencies. I'm looking forward to even more power, and Silver, how goes processing from your end? I don't know if we have posted about this yet, but the imaging software built into Wiki can make our server drop to it's knees. Course, with you and Knuckles both working at the same time, lol, the demand was using up almost all of the CPU cores. Course, this is what we do, and having contributors be able to contribute fairly is important to us, hence our discussions with him. We're hoping this next step up will even up the loads better, and the imaging work even faster. gogo Link to comment
Silver_fox 397 Posted January 30, 2011 Share Posted January 30, 2011 Well, I noticed how that 'imaging software built into Wiki' behaves... this thing is SLOW! The image page creation takes a lot of time, but I can tolerate it until it falls into 'Error 408 Request Time-Out'. And luckily it doesn't show that error anymore. So I can work with wiki. It takes a lot of time for the image to load and be placed to its respective page, but at least I know that it would manage to load. By the way, browsing the image categories is just impossible. If the system has to create previews of somewhat 100 images on a page, it falls into the mentioned error (and I prepared 50 images for Dark Rituals quests and NPCs only, so the categories fill up pretty fast). One more bug of the imaging software: it tends to be unable to create a thumbnail very often (just shows the grey canvas with an error message insted of an image), especially if the pic is scaled vertically ([[|x500px]] for example). But now when you mentioned it... Knuckles doesn't have time to contribute now. What would happen when he returns to the wiki? Would the server be able to survive if both of us start upload images and create pages at the same time? Link to comment
