Game of Thrones (Beware, may contain heart-breaking spoilers)

Dang I never commented about the final episodes did I? Well my feeling is this: they saved up all the awesomeness and unleashed it all in the last episode. As I've been saying, this season so far may not have had the most twisty-turning-shocking reveals, but it was doing work. Work moving the plot along towards a conclusion, which is a first for the show. Well, this final episode combined both elements. It managed to move the plot along with great big long strides, AND shocked and amazed the hell out of me with all kinds of twists and turns and big green BOOMS.

Like a season finale should, has me rarin' to go with the next installment.

....And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you

Valonqar is Valyrian for 'little brother' which most assume to mean Tyrion. But it could also mean Jamie as he was born second.

Don't forget the prophecy about Cersei's killer being her "little brother" is omitted from the show. I have a feeling they might try to avoid that altogether. In the books, Tyrion tells Jaime that Cersei has been sleeping around way back when Jaime busts him out of jail. This widens the divide between the two. Jaime had a pretty impressive redemption arc in the books, but in the show he keeps backsliding because there's been nothing to divide him from Cersei. Maybe that will change now.

It's funny. My gf and I were saying that jaimes expression at her taking the throne seemed like he lost some love for her there. Whatever it is he thinks she did to get the crown is going to tear them apart.

It's that time of year again.

This extra 3 month delay has been killing me. Been poring over these trailers trying to glean information about the upcoming season. Lots to look forward to!

Only 12 more hours to go :D

I wonder who will join the 'Dead Kings Club" this year...every season at least one king (either official or self-proclaimed) has met his demise.

Season 1 : Robert Baratheon

Season 2: Renly Baratheon

Season 3: Robb Stark

Season 4 : Joffrey Baratheon

Season 5: Mance Rayder & Stannis Baratheon

Season 6: Balon Greyjoy & Tommen Baratheon

Season 7: :)

Always thought th Starks were the most snake-bitten, worst luck, house out there...but the Baratheons aren't doing great either

Hola Knuckles!

We do be indeed stoked for Game of Thrones... I havent seen a single trailer yet ... can hardly wait... the dragons must be HUGE

:bounce:

p.s. re poor Starks.. .yer right...I dont think I've ever seen a hero class such as the Starks suffer such losses and still retain our faith in them as heroes that pull through and still find interest in them. It's a great dynamic that the author pulled off with this. Who can forget that moment that the axe actually did fall through Ned's neck... no deux ex machina for this guy.. .and surely he was the one who deserved a god's grace most

We don't get it here in Canada... gotta wait till all of it's *cough* somewhere before we can watch it, probably can see it in a bit more than an hour... but Knuckles, stoked you're lovin it!!

wooooooooooo hooooooooooooo

And what a way to end the episode...

"Shall we begin..."

And a most heart breaking scene with the tattered hand shooting out of the hole for the bowl of food

The person I feel bad for the most is Sam

No knowledge is worth what he has to do lol

Poor Sam...in fact poor us... the directors did such a good job in having us empathize with his "bottomless" plight... just thinking about it is enough to bring on a mild retch :P

and... did anyone notice the cool new edit technique they used in showing Sam's seeming endless suffering re the chamber pot churning? They kind of showed a clipped technique where they jumped ahead from moments to moments to quickly get us ahead in the Sam story arc... I've never seen them employ this cinematic device in GOT before... was a great technique and is well employed for finding humor in his drudgery

Oh on Sam...If you get a chance and don't mind foreshadowing or spoilers, you should look into videos showing what is written on those book pages Sam and Gilly were reading :) Very interesting.

On a side note. Some of the text involved Valeryian steel. If the making of it is spelled out in those books at the citadel, I'll be a little upset. Everyone bemoans that fact that the secret to making it has been lost for ages. You would think anyone who wanted to make some would go to the citadel to see if they had any info on it. Pretty sure a king with an army at his back would be able to get anything he wanted from them.

Masters often serve as advisors to kings or lords like Grand Maester Pycelle or Aemon and would have access to the all the books in the secure 'Maesters Only' area. To think none of the Grand Maesters wouldn't know or wouldn't reveal this info over the many years to their king/lord, but Sam can sneak in and find it right away and clearly written out seems a bit unbelieveable/ridiculous

all this crafting... valyrian steel... makes me wonder if an arpg or mmo will come out soon for this world

:D

There was an Game of Thrones RPG, back before the show blew up. It was a side-story made to take place during the events of the first book/season. I never played it.

It was so obvious I didn't spot it. I kept thinking, "I can't even spot where the wall ends, the ice just goes on forever!"

Which of course is the change. The sea is frozen.

On a related note, is the Sept of Balor still in King's Landing in the opening or did they demolish it? Haven't had a chance to check yet.

As far as I can tell nothing has changed in the intro for King's Landing....even the sigil is still House Baratheon...would have thought they might to something similar to Winterfell when it was sacked...for awhile it had smoke emanating from it. It's kind of hard to tell which building the sept is supposed to be but looked at very first episode in season 1 and for season 7...can't see any difference.

Also noticed in season one there is no ice at all in Narrow Sea...but at some point large ice/icebergs appear...no idea which season/episode it started. Also might be my mind playing tricks on me but it seems the area covered in snow has slowly migrated south

I'm going to look for those icebergs when I get hometonight. The idea of the narrow sea filled with ice and bergs... in fact the wall coming down terrifies me. Because it really means the end is near. This series has been a mainstay of my viewing for the last almost decade, to think that its all going to finish is a heart breaker.

I cant imagine the wall coming down...in fact I cant imagine what can actually stop the army of the dead..anything?

It looks like checks are being created and even the Dragons may be hunted
