Seraphim no Combat Art build

hi guys I have a seraphim and I decided no ca skills so this is my build:

Tactics lore

Dual Wield Lore

Sword Lore

Armor Lore

Concentration

Constitution

Warding Energy Lore

Speed Lore

Toughness

*FREE*

Last skill is either Combat reflexes or Spell resistance. Question is which one is better for my build? I want my seraphim to be tanky and also strong hitter. At one point I was considering having both spell resis and combat ref but then I already chose Speed lore. Its bcoz I dnt like horses or mounts. Not that I hate em but for this char I decided foot-on-ground only. not only that, also in higher lvls if I pvp, I wanna out run my opponent or catch up to them without a mount, so yeah thats why I chose speed lore. But then I can only have either combat reflexes or spell resistance as my last skill. I wonder since my char has alot of melee skills already and can probably withstand melee opponents, is spell resistance the way to go? or would I even need spell resis anyways? Sry if this dnt make sense. Plz give me you're opinions....ty.

btw the only CA ill be able to spam when I get high lvls is pelting strike lv 1 or abit hgher if I can get the cooldown lower enough to spam it. So this will be probably the only CA ill use. Making my fighter seem like star wars or sumthin.

Welcome to Dark Matters Ohiris.

I looked this'n over, but I was confused. Help me understand what you mean by 'no Combat Arts'

If you got no Combat Arts, warding energy and concentration isn't gonna help is it?

I believe he is referring to active CAs, instead of the buffs which he is planning to use in the build :)

Ohiris, I think that JK and Ryan are somewhat confused as am I... when you say "no CA skills" then I think that concentration would be a no-no... or did you just mean no focus or lore skills? In that case, technically, Tactics Lore is the "lore" skill for Exalted Warrior aspect. ;)

It sounds like you want a challenge for yourself, and I do have advice that you may find helpful... but I need to know more exactly what you intend... are you using buffs? how about regular Combat Arts... you mentioned using Pelting Strikes...

it's just that a lot of what I would say depends on how you want to define your restrictions.

Um I put only 1 point in concentration to add the 2nd buff 1 point in sword weps to add mod warding energy is to help my shield energy and tactics lore is to increase my dmg.

And sry but when I said no ca I mean the non buffs and stuff. But I will probably use pelting strikes when I get high lv and able to spam it....

Im trying to build a seraphim closely similiar to little sara's 2008 duel weild seraphim one. Sry I cnt post link now coz im using my mobile to type and im so noob. :( maybe later when I get on my pc ill post link.

Only buffs I will use is warding energy and battle stance...sry guys my replies are evrywhere coz my mobile is weird....

Heres the link that im building my build around it is exactly the same apart from enhanced perception: http://darkmatters.o...normal-attacks/

Maybe after reading link u can tell me whats best for me.

I would say that the guide you've linked to is a pretty good one to follow if you want to play with little use of active Combat Arts.I understand your desire to use speed lore, but in reality the bonus it provides to movement speed is rather small, even at mastery. Especially when you compare it to the gear that you can buy/find at the level you will master it. I think that instead of taking it you pick spell resistance and then combat reflexes as your last skill would work well. But, it looks like you've said you've already chosen speed lore, so...if you play Ice and Blood I suggest taking Spell resistance (especially as battle stance can be modded for evade), if not go with combat reflexes as spell resistance is less useful then.

thx for opinion, I also heard though that speed lore at 150 points can make u faster or almost as fast as the fastest mounts...just sayin. If speed lore really is useless I feel like starting agian....*sigh*

Yeah...speed lore is fairly useless, not always but if you only want it for the run speed it definitely is. At level 200 it gives a bonus of only +18.7% run speed, easily beaten by socketing a ring or two or even on your gear. In saying that you don't have to rebuild, but I would save putting points into speed lore until last if you keep going with your current toon.

Not sure if I am comparing apples to apples, but the wiki lists the Speed Lore Run Speed +% at 18.7 at level 200 and the tiger as 40% faster than on foot.

:( this is very bad...very bad indeed. I might aswell try to max out 1 skill or sumthin. My seraphim wont be as strong as I would hope it would.....

Don't worry about it. Its only one defensive skill you are missing out on and with the energy shield the seraphim is one tough cookie. This is still a very capable character build to use.

As you move up in levels the modifiers to your items can get really big. Like 20 to run speed, 30 to evade, 35 to spell resist are not 'godly' and are definitely attainable.

You already are doing the right stuff when you used a guide and came on the forum. You learn by doing, studying and discussing. :agreed:

Ty. Ive just been thinking about it, maybe ill still put 100 pnts into speed lore not this time for the minimum speed but the atk/def rates. I hope this skill doesnt prove useless after all.
