Deathly Spears Gold Mod

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do with the gold mod for Deathly Spears for my SW TG. Since I'm SW, my DS is never going to do that much damage per hit (and with Primal Mutation being my CA of choice for bosses, it won't ever need to), and I'm never going to be running with any RPH.. so having a super high level DS that gets recharged by RPH is pretty much not going to happen. Since my TG isn't built to tank, I got the knockback mod for the bronze mod for DS, and I've found that this is greatly helping my survivability against large groups of mobs. I'm definitely getting Singe for the silver mod, since my TG is heavily geared for fire damage, but the options for the gold mod are not so clear cut.

Jab will give DS multiple hits, but since I'm not using it for damage, and with the knockback triggering extremely often (100% at CA level 50, and I'm aiming for DS to be AT LEAST at cap level before penalties if possible), I can't see this mod being too effective. I suppose at level 42, the third strike might hit the enemies coming back to attack me, but this doesn't seem necessary. I'm kind of liking the deep wounds mod, since this should add a good amount of DPS to my DS, however, I don't know how the mod works in terms of what damage it's based off of, how long the DoT lasts, etc.

What do you guys suggest I do?

Chance to inflict deep wounds

I think this is the wiki link. Let me test and see. It's a one-time reduction in the enemies' base hitpoints.

EDIT: Original link was wrong. Correct link there now.

Deep wounds, for sure would be my suggestion. Unless, you want perma-knockback on close combat enemies (say... Orc cave :) with multiple waves from the Jab mod.

... Hmm. This is something I'm going to have to think about. 8% reduction in max hit points is nice and will let me kill enemies faster, but the survivability that perma-knock back allows seems almost too great to pass up. Ultimately, the Deep Wounds might be better, since I have Concentration and will be running all 3 buffs at the same time, making hits against me not too effective. I certainly don't need the extra hits, I won't be using this against bosses, especially since I don't have Tactics Lore, which as I understand is one of the main things that makes DS so good. I'll have to think on it, but Deep Wounds sounds like the way to go. Thank you!
