Talk to the hand playstyle questions

OK, I've been running this build, and yes it gets the job done, but it seems slow, comparing kill times of large groups to my Cap. Hunter Dryad, is night and day.

I love the god mode, of having my minions, and raising other minions then buffing, but apart from that I'm bored, every 3 seconds I'm hitting a Spectral Hand, that is boring, apart from that just playing the invisa-warrior is even worst.

Questions:

1. u guys that are familiar with this build, what are you doing to make it more funner than just buff your group, then spam Spectral hand every 3 seconds? (I know the Reg. should be faster laster but still..)

2. Is there another combat art that you can combo with Spectral hand without delaying it even more?

I do the hand mainly to recharge the shooting towers quickly. On consoles regeneration per hit is working. Reg per hit doesn't really shine early on, but later you will instantly recharge 3 and more seconds of regeneration time.

Being a little unfamiliar with this guide, I had a quick look, and immediately noticed one glaring point: (Numerii's quote below)

Ok on to the meat of this thread:

As I said in my disclaimer at the top, this is the 3rd iteration of this build. It is a ranged Shadow Warrior build, vastly different from the summoner builds you will have likely seen by now.

Here are the things I wanted to accomplish with this build:

1. No summons at all. I hate their AI and did not like the thought of 70% of my character was tied to the limits of that AI

2. Lots of offensive as well as defensive potential. I didn't want a glass cannon but I also didn't want to sit their wailing on bosses for days looking like some EQ boss raid.

3. A build that featured Spectral Hand as its cornerstone Combat Art.

What you can expect from this build:

1. No summons.

2. Great boss damage as well as the ability to wipe large packs out quickly.

3. Strong surivability.

4. A ranged playstyle.

OK... I'm all for modifying builds to suit your playstyle so maybe something like Beligerent Vault could be used to distract you from the boredom? I assume you're just using the summons for your main offence and just want 'something' to do while they're having all the fun?

But, if you are following the guide, SH is the 'cornerstone' combat art, after all.

Yes Scott your assumption is on key, vault seems like it can be of moderate effectiveness, in large packs, otherwise it would be how you said just for fun and a time filler.

It could be that this playstyle just isn't for me, what if I wanted to change it around, and not have SH as my corner stone ability, basically having my summoning as my cornerstone and secondarily the Mal. Champ melee abilities (I think there are 2) as my active abilities. Along with killing spree:). What skills would I take to strengthen it, but at the same time not hender my Summoning.

I know I still eat all the runes for my Summoning Buff ( sorry I'm horrible with spell names) but instead of using the Invisa-buff style I want to use the Reflect buff style while I'm in there still melee'ing away.

so to achieve that, what skills does it seems I'd have to change?

I have to be mean here. Not to you, budd, but Numerii. If I'm not mistaken, this is the build...

Talk to the Hand

I think I'd change out 5 of his skills, to be honest... and I'm really too lazy to read all the guides to see if there's an Astral-Malovelent build to recommend... but I do have advice:

Summons are pretty easy on the skills. Astral Lord Focus for higher CA-level and that's it. For NA, use a buff-suit to cast it at the start of each play-session. For Rallied Souls, an unmodified level 1 CA is just fine, even in Niob. If you're not going to use RS, then get 4 skellies. If you are, then 2 super-skellies. 'nuff said about summons... unless you take Ker as a deity

Now, you have 9 free skills to buff up your MC arts, defence, etc. But, you won't need Spell Resistance, Combat Reflexes, Ancient Magic, Astral Lore or Combat Discipline. Maybe CD.
