New C: drive, don't want to have to re-install Windows

The wife has ok'd some expenditure so I was thinking of getting this, since my C: drive is ####e (it's a 37 Gig PATA drive, probably a good ~10-15 years old & it has a "windows experience" of 3.9).

What I would like to know is whether there's a free way of moving my current C: drive over to the new drive without having to re-install windows (& everything else). I've got Win7 Pro.

There are some freeware tools from professional software around to do 1:1 copes. Most have limited partition sizes. But you can use a freeware partition tool like gparted to work the patition after the copying. I would use the linux Clonezilla for the copying. It is a minimal linux to boot with from other medium and can do 1 to 1 copies.

How to move step by step:

But the more people you will ask the more programs will be said :)

We use Acronis True Image at work for our clonign and backup management. It might be a bit overkill if you just want to do this one time and it is not free. :)
