chattius 2,522
http://www.sacredwiki.org/index.php5/Sacred_2:Take_the_Bull_by_the_Horns In the German version the quest is named der gehoernte Ehemann. Gehoernte would mean he was put horns on, english cuckold? Horned husband does this have the double meaning in english too: having horns and being cuckold? I know that italian, spain, scandinavia have put horns on someone as a saying for cuckold. English has too? English is not listed among the languages sharing this saying http://de.wiktionary.org/wiki/jemandem_die_Hörner_aufsetzen Link to comment
lujate 575
Take the bull by the horns exists as an English expression. "Cuckold" I do not recognize. Edited December 27, 2011 by lujate Link to comment
chattius 2,522
In germany we have: Den Bullen bei den Hoernern packen - take the bull by its horns, which means you should act offensive Jemanden Hoerner aufsetzen - means to have another lover than your husband, to cuckold as my dict says. In this case we speak of a gehoernter Ehemann, horned husband. The german quest connects both sayings, the wife gets offensive, ordering to kill her husband, which she betrayed. Link to comment
gogoblender 3,068
Interesting info^^ But I'm not sure I understand the reference as for Sacred 2. Is there a page in Wiki that I should update with this as a kind of Easter Egg or reference? gogo Link to comment
chattius 2,522
When I find a bit time I will redo the quest in german and perhaps add the german meaning of horned husband as a note to the quest info in wiki? Link to comment
gogoblender 3,068
That would be awesome Chattius! We'll get more tested info this way, and the reference definitely adds. Thank you gogo Link to comment
