Guild Wars 2 - Time to Play

Recommended Posts

I figured we might as well create this thread now. I know opening weekend everyone will be playing all they can. Later though, this can serve as a hub for getting together to do things like dungeons and just plain killing stuff. :viking:

I guess I will start. I will be on most of the day, except for unavoidable interruptions, doing non-specific PvE. I plan on trying to get into WvW tonight, probably around 7pm (US Central).

Speaking of WvW. Just a warning to everyone. I tried my trick of hopping thru WvW to get to LA. I did not start in our friendly camp, but rather in the middle of a fight. I survived, but every waypoint was contested. I had to log out to get out of WvW. This may just be a hiccup, but just keep be careful in the short term.

The login servers appear to be offline right now. ArenaNet says they are working on it. People already connected seem to be able to continue until they log off or get disconnected.

Edit:

This is from the official Twitter:

The errors related with firewall/conectivity are still being investigated by our teams. We will give you more info as soon as we get it.

And ironically enough, I just got an official e-mail announcing the Head Start.

Well I did not make it into WvW yesterday. Spent most of the time in oveflow, and when I finally made it out, it appeared the WvW was down. Planning on trying again this evening. Until then, more non-specific PvE. Drop in and give a shout. If you would like, I can come to you, and we can see what kind of trouble we can find. :paladin:

The servers seemed solid today, with no real interruptions. The biggest issue is they are having trouble with parties. A number of the party features disappear when the players get separated, sometimes just out of sight. This is a new bug, and one I hope they squash quickly.

Three of us went into WvW tonight. We got in with no queue, and things seemed to be running OK. The lack of a queue is probably also why we always seemed to be so outnumbered. I think the command I gave most often was, "Run".

Official release is Tuesday, so I hope they get the party issue fixed by then.

My goal this weekend, or perhaps even tonight if time allows, is to get to face the Shadow Behemoth in the Godlost swamp in Queensdale.

What the wiki says

I spent a lot of time there and never really got the boss to spawn, but I did not follow the wiki as a guide and just kinda hoped that if I hang around long enough, he might just spawn. While in an overflow server a day or so ago the event went over to the "Underworld forces have been spotted outside the swamp" stage, but stupidly I joined the "real" server when prompted the question and still being new to the game, I did not realize that I just aborted the meta event at it's current progression!

I also want to see if I can complete one or two jumping puzzles in Kryta.

This interactive map is the only map so far I found that shows the location of jumping puzzles (spoiler alert) and IMO the best map I found. It's still in beta testing so I'm not 100% sure about the accuracy.

leave Lujate behind? Is he a huuuuuge norn? not able to fit through the narrow nooks and crannies?

No, Kiyeri just knows how much I loathe, detest and despise jumping puzzles. Except for the ones that are mandatory, I have no intention of doing them. :nono:

Right now, it is my standard weeknight SOP. Crafting while making/eating dinner. Later knock out a personal quest if I am high enough. Then see if anyone wants to party before seeing what trouble I can find. :viking:

Don't forget our nightly WvW jaunt... well the last 3 nights that is. Anyone that has ever known me would never believe I willingly, excitedly go to WvW. But I actually think its fun. Well as long as Lujate is directing traffic and watching my back that is :P

Oh yes, WvW. Going into Head Start, I expected WvW to be an concessional distraction, but it did not turn out that way. This week, it seems most nights end in WvW. It is fun, although we often do a Two Stooges show. We quickly learned that a group of two in WvW is a massacre waiting to happen. Saw a couple of dirty tricks involving invisibility last night that we have to learn to counter.

It took me all thru breakfast to get logged on this morning. Guess I will just go AFK while doing the dishes as opposed to logging out.

I should be doing PvE most of the day if anyone wants to party.

Edit:

Just made Jeweler 99 (oh so close to 100) and Tailor 115. I was unpleasantly surprised to discover that 10 slot bags require a 5 SP purchased component.

If you guys need anything crafted, just mail me the mats.

congratz!

your thoughts on the necro?

thx :)

Necro: Minion-build in late pve is really good, level 30-50 its a little weak, we need a heal-button for minions

PvP: I only played WvWvW-> if you know how to use your cc-skills/DS-> you're immortal

next days I'll do a lot WvWvW,spvp and my story, maybe I'll try a twink next week

OMG Chrona, already 80.... WOWZA.

So tell is is there much to do at that level other then WvW? I kno someone else that hit 80 and is sorry he worked so hard at it since there is not endgame content yet and not many that level to play with. Thankfully there is always WvW, which I discovered I actually very much enjoy (and I abhor PvP).

to be exact in an MMO a Twink is a veteran player who makes a new character and gives a bunch of top-shelf equipment from their older, maxed-out characters to the new character.

I.e. an uber geared low level char.
