Hi and welcome from another new member. :)

There are 2 lines of patches out. One for the international / UK release, one for the US release. It's obvious which one you need, looking at your location. ;)
And if you have the add-on "Ice & Blood " or not.

There is one piece of advice I can give you about installing the game.

A lot of users have had problems when installing the game at a Win-7 machine. To avoid that, install the game, install the patches up to the last patch, install the add-on - if you have it - after that and update the game to patch 2.65.2. DON'T install the PhysX package, as it often makes the game bloody laggy. Unless you run your PC with about 16GB RAM and a 8GM Gfx-card. :wow:
When that's done, launch the game and do the registering.

After that the game should play without problems. But in case it doesn't, we've got lots of techies here to help you out.

Absolutely! There are many 'fixes' as well as opening up content that was left out of the original release (for whatever reason...).

Welcome to the community, if you need anything, just ask! (Hint: poutine buffet is located in the Key Largo Bar area :chef: )

Welcome aboard, Abmbrosius!

Echoing the other membs, do get the CM-patch. All the goodies, and really no hassle getting it to work. Not to mention, should ease up some possible instability issues, if any. :)

EGAD! You don't need 16 GB of RAM with an equally overpowered video card to play Sacred 2 with PhysX! You DO need a decent video card tho - Most modern Nvidia based cards should suffice. Since most onboard video chipsets are long in the tooth, they lack the horsepower a more modern discrete video card has.

My system is an Athlon II 5200+ with 4 GB of RAM in dual channel mode and with my Nvidia GT 220 based video card, I got really fluid graphics when playing the game. And all of that is FAR from state of the art hardware.

That said, having a good video card - preferably one with an Nvidia chipset that does PhysX natively makes ALL the difference. Nvidia is, after all, the people who bought the company that produced PhysX and incorporated the technology into their hardware.

When my GT220 died last year, I tried playing with the onboard video - and quite frankly, with only 1/8th of the video memory (128 KB vs 1 GB), the ATI 2100 chipset (older than the hills) couldn't pull the load very well. The graphics with that chipset are indeed choppy.

Btw... PhysX installs itself as part of one of the patches (2.34, IIRC -OR- it installs as part of the mega roll up patch from 2.12 to 2.40).

Wolfie, that was meant as sarcasm. Well, most of it, actually; since there are still people out there using a WinXP computer - you know, 512 MB RAM, 256MB GFX-card - asking why the game runs so badly at their computer.

Fact is: Sacred 2 runs better without the PhysX package as it does with it. Reason why I mentioned it's a good idea not to install that package. But....
If not mistaken the PhysX package was delivered to the CE-version of Sacred 2 only. It could be added to I&B later and thus is also a part of the Gold version of the game. If that's true, there is no other choice but to install it.

I guess we just have to wait for Ambrosius to report back in, in case he runs into problems.

Maybe so - that would tend to make some sense given there's fewer calculations that need to be made without the PhysX package installed.

That said, that was the point of getting an Nvidia card that has PhysX built in. The card acts as a co-processor and takes the load off of the CPU.

Btw... The PhysX package was delivered with the 2.31 to 2.34 patch - the really BIG one that had the file check built into it. It's what made that patch as BIG (800 MB) as it was. This is/was true of both the US (CDV) and UK (DS) releases. It was also included in the mega roll up patch that took you from 2.12 to 2.40 (1 GB).

And BTW.. He has checked in (yesterday) and said he got the CM Patch and everything is working fine... :D
