Moreso in the form of a Simultaneous Couch/Local Co-op ARPG for console play, I heard that LOTR: War of the North was one but besides that:)

For PS3:

Dungeon Defenders (ARPG with Tower Defense. Support was dropped pretty quickly for the game as a whole though.)

Deathspank series (I've only played the demo, so I can't give an explicit recommendation for it.)

Dungeon Hunter: Alliance (Decent Action RPG. Online and offline co-op can be combined. I bought it on release, but quickly went back to Sacred 2.)

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (Haven't played it myself, but it's technically an Action RPG with multiplayer.)

 

Not quite ARPG, but very close ("loot", leveling up, etc):

Dynasty Warriors 7 (but not 6).

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 1 (not 2 or 3).

 

If you have a PS2: Champions of Norrath.

Not sure if ps3 has it but look up torchlight. You can make specific builds for each character type, has tons of loot, randomized levels, and a never ending dungeon (levels never end)

PS3 never received Torchlight, which is a real shame because it looks like a fantastic game.
