Recomended Change - Divide Bengaresh Desert into sub sections.

Recommended Posts

I tried Irfanview for viewing, what I have is a black screen. I have no idea what went wrong. And, where/how do I upload, it's possible that someone else can get something out of the screen shot.

I hope I can describe this okay

first have the image on screen, then do print screen

then have irfan view open and when you see that black screen press ctrl v which is paste

when you do that, the black will have the image in it completely feilled with the image

you can use crop top left to pull out what you like.

you can then save to your desk top, then use attachment feature on the post here at darkmatters

crossing fingers, I can explain more if you need

Nothing happens. I am making sure the file is open and no matter what I try, it's a black screen inside the app.

Is the app properly downloaded, are you able to play test any options in it to see if it works?

Close it then open it up again

When you open it, there should be a black space in the middle

Before you open it though, make sure you print screen while the image of Sacred Vanilla is open with the words Bengaresh Threshold.Once you are certain the print screen has been depressed, the "image" is stored in your temporary "copy"... open up irfan view and then presss ctrv v which is paste

The black space in irfan view will then be filled with the image you had captured with print screen

think of it like taking a dropper and sucking out the image from the game with print screen then using ctrl v to deposit it into irfan view

:D

It may just be that the picture didn't take for whatever reason. I've had Print Screen screenshots just not take occassionally with other games.

EDIT: sorry you can't upload tga files to imgbox

Cath, can you upload your pic to tiny pic (me and schot use that) ... and then post the code here in this forum for message boards?

Kinda like Photobucket in the old days

Ysne. Are you able to upload the TGA right here in this topic? It works for me but I'm not sure if I have allowed the uploading of TGA for all members. Could you give it a try and if that doesn't work then try putting it in a zip folder and then attach it to a post here? I could then convert it to jpg for you.

Sorry I couldn't be a more direct part of this everyone. Rough day! I'm going to the clinic in the morning but I just wanted to jump in and say that I was reading everything and tried to do as much as possible in the background. Thanks so much for the big effort today. It was pretty cool watching everyone pull together through gogo's screen. Laie_84.gif

Guys - Print screen and pasting into Paint from Sacred 2 does NOT work. It generates a BLACK image.

You need to go to the My Pictures\Ascaron Entertainment\Sacred 2\ folder and look for the TGA file.

You will need something that will do a conversion - PaintShop Pro, Photoshop LE, etc.. Assuming Irfanview has a conversion feature also.

rfianview does, it's what community started using back in days whe Ascaron messed us all up with those super high quality TGA Files o_O I've used irfan view since

Wolfie brings up good point cath, if you can find your way to the folders, and if you are certain that you have a copy of irfanview on your computer.

Just find that folder

then right click on one, drop down menu, pick from list open with irvan view ...u can then see the pic this way.

Irfanview can open tga files and save them as other types. I was assuming she WAS looking in the Ascaron screenshots folder and the image was just black.

Personally I use FRAPS to take screenshots and movies. IIRC, you can only save screenshots as JPEG's with the free version but the images look fine for Wiki purposes.

Print-Screen in standard Vanilla Sacred 2 or with the Ice and Blood Expansion will not let you use the Windows Clipboard. When you hit the PrintScreen key, it creates a TGA file that gets put into your My Pictures\Ascaron Entertainment\Sacred 2\ folder. The name will be big_00xx.tga. These can be converted by any number of programs - Photoshop, PaintShop Pro, Irfanview, etc... into JPG format which is more Internet friendly.

If you do happen to paste a screenshot into Paint or any other graphics program it shows up as a big black image.

FWIW, I've been doing it this way for 3+ years... I got over 700 such screenshots I can post.

OK.. It might work if you're not running the game full screen. But at that point, your pictures will be smaller than if they were full screen.

As far as using F12 goes.. That kind of sucks - Steam is somehow co-opting a keystroke that is bound in Sacred 2? Kind of difficult to switch to your 4th rack of Relics with your keyboard if your taking pictures with it.

I ended up using Fraps. The screen shot feature for whatever reason stopped saving. Ifranview does not work and is no longer installed on my computer. Open Office Draw will open TGA files, but since I couldn't find the new screen shots and the old one didn't have the words, and I couldn't find any of the new screen shots, I gave up on that.

The free version of fraps saves in .bmp format. I open those up in paint and then save to jpg format and then upload.

That works nicely, however Central Bengaresh is pretty big, perhaps break that down to East Central and West Central?

Works for me. I kinda had the same sort of thought on the subject. Maybe use the road passing thru Khorum as the divider.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Having Bengaresh broken up into regions like that would make it much easier to place quests and points of interest.

There isn't much in between Khorum, and East Bengarsh other than El Darragh, so I think we can work with the current Central Bengaresh page. If we find anything new we can describe how to find it on that page.

Schot and Gogo, is it ok if we go ahead and create the pages that are not already existing?

That would be Northwest Bengaresh, Northeast Bengaresh, East Bengaresh, and South Bengaresh.

East Central Bengaresh - Actually, there are a few points.. Off the top of my head, there's the sand people camp east of El Darragh - where you have to go kill the sand people boss, then there's the place where you have to escort the caravan, that leads to the camp where there's a quest waiting... The woman is missing her husband - you have to go into the trench and find him dead. This one originates in the El Darragh portal area.

You can maybe argue about the archeology dig site - I kinda put it in the East region, but it's outside of the big trench...

And let's not forget Sheik Yerbouti's camp.

There's slim pickin's compared to some parts, but it's not entirely devoid of life.

I'm fine with whatever gets agreed to for the central part.

Also I think the wiki could benefit from a places page for Southeast Tyr Lysia between Thylisium and Teardrop Hamlet.

I'd also like to see a Northwest Jungle and an East Jungle region.

West Artamark Coast and East Artamark coast with that Schookumchuck river as the dividing line.

And Nor Plat Coast.

The last would be South or Southeast Swamp region.

Hey guys!

Great work coming up here in this topic!

Regarding this question, we're going to investigate again and do some research, and will come up with some options tonight or latest tomorrow.

Thanks for all the creative groundwork and ideas!

This is a very interesting direction you guys are taking on the desert. I'm going to do some deep digging into the wiki and then post back. In the meantime, I'd like to know why there is an interest in creating new place pages with names that aren't in the game. We've always followed the rule that game is god and that we only document as it is in game. I'll post back soon! mail1.gif

The only reason to break it up as it's HUGE... Things can get lost in the shuffle. By breaking it down to sub-regions, you can make sure it's covered fully and not utterly overwhelming to the people viewing the page.

Cath - Eh.. Sure. As long as we're going crazy with this we might as well be committed. (pun intended) :D

And we might as well have one page dedicated to the full area as well - with a list of the sub-regions and what goes on in them.
