Popular Post Hooyaah 2,823
"Dear Journal, today in a remote location near the foot of the mountains in Grunwald, I discovered a camping site where a cute little fox was soundly sleeping. The campfire was cold and because of the close proximity of the prolific mushrooms to its edge, I determined that it had been at least a couple of days since any soul had been there. Furthermore, I concluded that it had likely been a human who had camped here and had provided some portion of food to this adorable vulpine creature and that it has been patiently waiting in this area for yet another visit from its generous benefactor. I regressed from the area stealthily, so as not to disturb the inherently timid creature, hence frightening it not from another potential meal. I believe that I would like having such an animal for a pet one day, and by that I mean the darling and diminutive animal, as I generally find most humans to be wholly insufferable." 5 Link to comment

My determination is that it is alive, based on the fact that the tiny creature appears to be resting comfortably, there is no apparent damage to it, and there is no blood on or nearby the animal. Additionally, Aramelith informed me that she could see its chest moving as it respired and she witnessed a barely audible yet "cute little snoring sound." Dear Journal: "I discovered this day a very interesting and perplexing, peculiar piece of Polynesian primitive art within the lowest cave at Schlun Zum. It appears to be West Polynesian in origin and more specifically a tiki of the Maori people. I am quite puzzled as to how it came to be here and as to how I would happen to be aware of such specific information regarding this artifact." 4 Link to comment

That research, was performed some years ago at the time I was engaged in the process of obtaining a degree in visual Fine Arts, I merely accessed it at the time directly preceding my post from encoded storage in areas of my cerebral cortex. I found my studies of historical primitive art to be quite fascinating. "Dear journal: I encountered a delightful geyser this day in a volcanic area off the coast of the Dragon Sea; I timed its period at approximately twenty five seconds. It is located not far from the village of the Orc-Thag clan where the orcs, much to my amazement, have settled, living directly adjacent to a live volcano which is constantly seeping lava directly into the ocean. Do they not know that a full eruption could easily decimate their village before they could flee to a safe distance? Perhaps, they merely do not care. Either way, I doubt that I will bother to inquire about this subject, for even the most pleasant of orcs are seldom interested in engaging in cordial conversation or replying to the queries of others outside of their clan. 2 Link to comment

Popular Post Hooyaah 2,823
Above is another fox sighting which I posted here in this forum previously. In my observation, the fox appears alive and resting comfortably in this context and setting. If one inspects it closely it even appears to be smiling. However, in the above example, we find the poor little creature in a cage accompanied by a rabbit carcass. It is doubtful that the lizard-men are keeping it as a pet and have left a rabbit feast for the time at which it awakens from slumber. Additionally, it's mouth is open slightly and its color is a grey-brown shade, not reddish as above, and its body is in a slightly different position than the fox above. What we have, as I have noted, are two contradistinctions of a small vulpine creature. 3 Link to comment

They were laughing, running around the tree, and playing games. I am concealing this Christmas card within your pages so that I will never forget this Christmas Eve, for if I live a thousand years longer, I doubt that there will be one as joyful as this. I have got to go now, for after I place this candy cane upon a low bough for any of the children to take, I shall make hot cocoa and bake some scrumptious gingerbread men. The lovely gingery aroma will surely last in the cabin throughout the entire evening and into the wee hours of Christmas morning and perhaps until the time we will all open our presents. So, Merry Christmas to all, and to all a... good night! I forgot to pick up the packages for everyone from the Christmas Ogre's cave. Yet, no worries, for there is still plenty of time. Hooyaah 2,823
"Greetings and Felicitations, this is your hostess and travel writer, Tarellethiel with yet another installment of Dining In Ancaria. Today we return to Griffinborough, where I shall be reviewing the remaining three tavern restaurants here. My good friend Aramelith has previously reviewed the first place to dine, drink, and sleep, The Screaming Wife, if you would like, you may see what she wrote here." "Let us begin with an establishment which I would in no way recommend, The Balderdash. Just recently the proprietor, let's just call him, "Eddie," was arrested for the illegal gambling den which was functioning in the basement of the inn. It appears that the all of the operations here have been suspended, which is the first of several reasons why I would steer clear of this place, well, at least for the time being." "It must mentioned that I will not be referring to the basement going forward in my review, as it has been closed by the authorities. My hope is that a new owner shall open the inn yet again and utilize the cellar as the dining area, as it is vast and could be romantic at night with some fashionable decor and some well-placed candles for lighting and ambience. So then, above ground the interior is quite small and the lower floor has seating for only two (three persons if you do not mind being cramped). There is food and drink available, yet nothing is prepared on site. Cold bread, some fruit, and dried meat was all that was available during my brief visit. There was a small amount of seating outside which might be rather pleasant for dining were the current conditions not what they are." "The upstairs, devoted to overnight guests, was a bit cramped and allowed sleeping accommodations for only four. A small table with two chairs was furnished as well." "Before leaving the area, I had a short conversation with a soldier who had the rather objectionable duty of overseeing someone being burned at the stake just outside the inn. I inquired as to whether the poor soul was "Eddie" and he replied that he was not at liberty to discuss such things. He then mentioned that his duty shift ended in a few hours and asked if I would enjoy dining with him at The Stuffed Stag. I politely refused his generous offer, yet he insisted in telling me his name and asked me to contact him the next time I was in town so that we could share a bottle of fine wine; he seemed very interested in hearing all about my exploits; I doubt that he has that much free time." 1 Link to comment
Popular Post Hooyaah 2,823
"Welcome back from our break, avid readers. It's time to learn more about another public tavern, the third of three, in the town of Griffinborough. Located on the southwestern edge of the city, not far from the arms merchant, the Flying Dutchman serves as an inn as well as a tavern. It is very clean and quite orderly, but a wee bit too spartan for my taste. However, well staffed at all times it certainly is, and for this reason it is a suitable place for the busy denizen or bustling traveller who is looking to relax for a moment or to meet with an associate or friend for either business or for pleasure. There is interior seating for at least twelve persons and even several places to relax off of ones feet outside." "For the weary a bed may be had for the night for a very reasonable amout of gold and there is sufficient bunk space for eight guests. I recommend it for the best spot to rest for the night if one is budget conscious. Be advised, if you are hungry, you had best bring a loaf of bread, some cheese, and cured meat or sausage, or come after a good meal, as the tavern has no food for sale, yet welcomes customers who bring their own." "When we return, I will introduce you to The Stuffed Stag. Be sure to bring your appetite with you this time!" 2 Link to comment
Popular Post Hooyaah 2,823
I'm glad that you all waited so patiently for this last segment of Dining And Lodging in Griffinborough. Thank you and I must tell you that you will be delighted with this last segment, a report on The Stuffed Stag. Don't let the peculiar name deceive you, for this concern is something quite special indeed. Let us begin with the interior of this tavern and eatery, for humble it may be, some of the best, most most watering and sumptuous food in the entire human territory is served here. The chef, although only human, possesses some of the keenest of culinary senses, grilling and seasoning meats to perfection with spices the like of which I have never before encountered. The beef, pork, and fowl are carefully marinated separately in their own special spices and locally-grown herbs and slowly grilled until the meat is so tender it practically falls of the bone. There is also something completely new to me which I have never before tasted, for I had not yet known of it as a thing. The spelling escapes me, yet I have been told to pronounce it "peet-suh." It is a wonderful stacking of cheese, slices of sausages, ground meats, and all drenched with the sauce of a very tasty spiced tomato sauce, all baked together atop a large, round, flatbread. You simply must have a slice or two when you visit, for it is the most wonderful of things, to be certain. The chef commented that the humans always say that it is a thing of "the dying for." I have yet more to excite your taste buds dear ones and it's time to find your table outside on this quiet, enchanting, and cool evening for there are grilled, seasoned vegetables, luscious and exotic fruits and even mouth-watering desserts made with the honey found in the immediate area. As you know honey is a rare commodity because of the prolific bear population. Sorry, to have digressed, now where was I? Oh yes, have you ever heard of cheese cake? It is probably not what you may think and it is simply a thing, the secret of its making, which surely was secreted away from the gods themselves, for it tastes most emphatically divine! There is also a sweet bread that is rather addicting as well. After eating to ones heart's content it is likely that one desire not to be traveling far. Fortunately, there is lodging, if you can still navigate the stairs to the top floor (you may want to book a bed in advance, take my word for there is room for only four guests). The furnishings for the overnight guests, though not particularly extravagant are very comfortable, nevertheless. There is a lovely (yet small) patio which opens to the bed chamber which allows a sweet and cool breeze, one which will surely tickle one's skin, so it is of good that ample blankets are provided. So then, to sum it up, I highly recommend The Stuffed Stag, for it is both affordable and a true destination for all from the weary traveler to the adventurer, to the true foodie. This concludes this edition of Dining And Lodging In Ancaria, the places of Griffinborough. I am your hostess and travel writer, Tarellethiel. (Dear and kind sir, is there perhaps yet another slice of that peetsuh, if you do not mind... please?) 3 Link to comment

Popular Post Hooyaah 2,823
"Welcome avid followers, it is once again time for another enthralling edition of Dining And Lodging in Ancaria. Today we will be visiting a town with much local charm, the small seaside burg of Artamark's Gate." "There are two taverns in town and neither of them have a formal name, a fact which I found rather odd. It would also be potentially difficult to distinguish between them in any report. Fortunately, one of the two is nestled between other sturdy stone buildings on the seaward side. Therefore, for purposes of my review of the two, I shall refer to the one in the interior of town as the 'Nameless Tavern' and the other, located across from the dock, as the 'Seaside Tavern.'" My arrival not having been anticipated, the proprietor of the 'Nameless Tavern' noticed me enter immediately; I found him in the center of the lower floor near the bar area. He greeted me warmly and began to explain why his tavern was devoid of food and drink. 'There is this day', he said, 'a celebration in town', which he and his staff had catered and he was completely sold out of all provisions. After apologizing, he offered me a free night's stay and a voucher for a complimentary meal with drink upon my next visit to town. He was genuinely disappointed that I could not review his food, but I promised him that I would not write ill of his eatery and would still include a mention of his establishment and its sleeping facilities." "The 'Nameless Tavern' has rather limited seating and caters more to they who travel for business within the area and to families in need of a meal during their stay. Artamark's Gate is a bustling port city and a point of entry for travelers across Ancaria who seek destinations southward to areas in the interior of Ancaria. This spot is a nice and relatively quiet place to dine and rest for a while in preparation for yet another period of travel. I found the facilities in the downstairs dining area to be very tidy and orderly, yet devoid of guests but for one soul who popped in and walked over to a table as if she expected to have met someone there." "Upstairs, there is a very spacious, tidy and well-kept area with beds for four individuals to sleep comfortably. There were a few lush, large plants in clay pots which made the space pleasant and a couple of well-placed benches on which to rest and well compliments the room. Interestingly, there was a small palette located in a corner near the stairs which was placed adjacent to a crib. A parent would find this convenient and I would, therefore, recommend this as a fine place to rest for the night for families. However, for some travelers, the loud cries of a wailing baby at night may be found to be averse and not so conducive to a good night's rest. So then, for my assessment of the "Nameless Tavern," I give it high marks for being family-friendly, affordable, clean and well cared for by an owner who is polite and eager to accommodate his guests. Be sure to visit here next time for my review of the 'Seaside Tavern.' This is Tarellethiel, your hostess and travel writer signing off for now. I'll see you soon for yet another edition of Dining And Lodging in Ancaria." 3 Link to comment
Popular Post Hooyaah 2,823
"Welcome dear guests and thank you for visiting yet again, for today is a follow up edition of Dining And Lodging In Ancaria. Today you are all my guests at the quaint yet delightful 'Seaside Tavern' located in the bustling port city of Artamark's Gate." "As you may recall, during our last installment we discovered the 'Nameless Tavern' here in town. The Seaside Tavern is located right across from the dock, welcoming the wayfarers, sailors, dockworkers, and even adventurers. Oh, I am fairly certain that they do not discourage the local citizenry either." "Dusk was approaching upon my arrival so I began my review upstairs to learn more about the amenities available for weary travelers and I was not at all disappointed. A most lovely and large resting place equipped with curtains for added darkness and privacy caught my eye and I could imagine the royalty who may have slumbered within such a cozy bed. There is adequate space for nine persons to slumber here at one time. Chests for secure storage are available and there is space to socialize or to employ a desk for study or to do a bit of writing or reading. The sweet smelling sea breeze flows through the room and I found the saline air both comforting and invigorating. As darkness fell, I decided to go back downstairs before the tavern became busy and perhaps a modicum too boisterous." "The bar maiden had arrived and she poured me a pint before I had requested drink of any sort. She explained that this tavern is also owned by the same gentleman who owns the other local tavern and that he had instructed her to make me feel at home and that my stay and my bill there would be fully covered. It was then I noticed that there was also not a thing to eat here. just as it had been at the other tavern. She then explained that the combined staff of both taverns had worked all day in order to satisfy the catering of the local party to which I had become privy. Yes, don't tell me as I am already aware, I could stand to miss a few meals. Why, just look at my figure, I could surely lose a few pounds or more." "The 'Seaside Tavern' has plenty of room for weary travelers to wet their whistles and to dine. The room is very well illuminated at night by candles and there are ample windows to allow for cool air and plenty of sunshine in the daytime. I highly recommend it if you wish to experience a festive place to revel; this is one that has plenty of drink selections from which to choose. I also approve the inn as a fine, even luxurious, place to detain oneself in order to obtain a comfortable rest. That is, if you are not pinching your coins so tightly as not to loosen a few, if you know what I mean. 'No, miss, I do not want the drought, for I have had nothing to eat for days and it would surely go directly to my head. You may have it yourself, if you wish.' Ta ta for now fans and followers, this is Tarellethiel, your hostess and travel writer. I bid thee all a fond farewell. I shall see you anon, in a visit to, oh let it be a surprise this time. I am certain that it shall be a pleasant one and verily so it shall." 3 Link to comment

In a candle-lit chamber happened upon unexpectedly, was an elegant and well furnished room with a table carefully prepared for the dining of two persons. Popular Post Hooyaah 2,823
"Welcome dear followers to a very special edition of Dining and Lodging In Ancaria with me, your hostess, Tarellethiel. This day we find ourselves deep within a considerably covert cave and it is none other than that of the frightful Buccaneers of the Jade Sea; here we find ourselves at the tavern, 'The Gallows." It is most surely a place one would never discover me to be 'hanging around.' (audible snort) Please excuse me and my 'gallows humor.'" Within the recesses of this subterranean cavern we find the lair or these abominable freebooters and their entire vessel which is also securely secreted within its ponderous space." "The lower floor of the tavern proves very recent activity, a fact which is evident from the hourglasses still logging the passing of time. The captain has standing orders to use these time-keepers so that they as a community may accurately track the passage of hours in order to adhere to their schedule and closely follow their routine. Noticing the evidence all around the room we may now visualize in the eyes of our minds the scene which had just occurred just prior to our visit. There was a lively company of merrymakers, with the music of stringed instruments livening the room and the imbibing of spirits to aid in the merrymaking. Persons were having their futures prognosticated via the use of a set of tarot cards and a comely pirate woman was applying makeup at the bar as she fanned her face intermittently with an exotic fan, the likes of which I have not before seen." "Yes, here in this space exists a place for these boisterous buccaneers to bond as family and to relive stress and to perhaps forget their nefarious deeds for a time. I wonder, dear followers, what things they did think and what thoughts they did have. Surely, they must not be so far removed from any humanity that there demeanor is hence in their days now ever so foreign to that of our own. I do wish to know, what do you find of interest in this space that I have not mentioned. What exists here which speaks to you, dear ones?" "Up the stairs in the sleeping space of these nefarious scofflaws of the sea, we find comfort for eight persons to repose for brief respite and there is even a small area for conversation and perhaps the comfort of a pleasing pipe. Among the bunks and the beds do you not also wonder what dreams may have heretofore been imagined? Were they of adventure, of freedom, of fear, or even of what lay ahead in days to come, or perhaps that of a profound longing for immense fortune? Had all humanity escaped them or were they more as you and I, yet trapped here in a regrettable live of their own design or their own misfortune? Alas, perhaps it is not for the likes of we gentle and fortunate folk to ere know. Before we leave, caution must be counseled for you to follow me closely and to take great care on our way out. For if you lag behind you may suffer the same unfortunate life as do they who dwell herein, as many of the crew may skulk within the confines of this underground realm and may seek to prevent your imminent escape." Thank you for attending this most irregular, and hopefully enthralling episode of Dining and Lodging In Ancaria. My desire is that as we leave you are all in suspense as to where we will be visiting during our time next. I do believe, however, that not a one of you shall find disappointment therein." 2 Link to comment

AS the wiki's almost mostly all fact based, its sometimes difficult to put in info that adds great player value experience without it being being something absolutely measureable. I think your recent series of travels, adventures, gourmetery and monster chronicles would serve well as targets of links in wiki pages that could bring readers to your work here. gogo 1 Link to comment
Popular Post Hooyaah 2,823
Welcome back to still another invigorating episode of Dining and Lodging In Ancaria, my adorable and loyal followers. As promised, today I take you to a truly special place, an enchanted location and one that I am quite certain that you will find to be an irresistible destination for vacation or perhaps one in which you may aspire to abide on a permanent basis. Peeking upon the scene from an undisclosed nook, you must surely agree that the location is one that speaks of serenity, peace, and relaxation. Let us move a bit closer so that we may truly come to appreciate the Lakeview Tavern and its surroundings. First, I wish to allow you to witness the splendor that is Bottomless Lake, is it not a true thing of beauty? I asked one of the fishermen, a friendly human, why the lake was named "bottomless" for I had touched the substratum while diving and navigating to its quite average depths. He chuckled and then smiled as if I had captured him with an unexpected jest. I suppose that there is much of the humor of humans that I could stand to learn. And what forsooth, is the purpose for this affixing of one eye in a shut position? Indeed, the academic curriculum back at the Academy could certainly do with some studies dealing with such inscrutable human behavior. Nonetheless, there is much to be enjoyed from what may appear to be simply a mundane task, the catching of the fish. I have exercised my due diligence before making this report to you and this activity is not only quite good at the relieving of stress but it is almost as a sacred ritual with many of the locals. Fresh catches of fish are served daily at the tavern and it is a nice culinary departure from the other perhaps mundane fare of fowl, beef, boar, cheeses, breads, and sausage. Although, the way in which the other meats are prepared is something quite unique the flavors of all food served here somehow taste more intense and are somehow so richly satisfying compared to other locations where we have visited. Most days here at the Lakeview Tavern, from what I am told, are quite lovely, so many of the locals enjoy dining out of doors. There is a cool and gentle breeze wafting under the shade of the friendly old trees which wave and dance as if to a soft and soothing tune unheard by mere mortals. Oh, and just feast your eyes on the salubrious and tantalizing food selections on the tables before you! Now that I have cleared the hidden valley of Crag Rock of Thraconians once and for all, it is finally safe for living; the Lady Mirwiell and her good people will be colonizing there and the resources are verily plentiful. Located in the vast acres behind the tavern, there are plentiful trees for the lumber to build sturdy structures and a clear freshwater stream babbling enchantingly through the valley's center, perfect for drawing for drinking, cooking, and bathing. If you have the desire, the fortitude, and the determination of a pioneer, this may be the location well suited for you to settle. Sadly, we must end this edition of Dining and Lodging In Ancaria. Well, to be honest it is not I who shall be sad, for I intend to actually catch a fish this time, even if I have to pry the secrets on how to accomplish such a feat from that gregarious and affable human fisherman. 3 Link to comment
