Well either one is better than "leprechaun" as they were apparently going to be called at some point during development. Gnome probably would have been the best choice for the English localization. Imp would have been ok too. Because of Kingdoms of Amalur, I always thought kobolds were lithe, bat-fox-like creatures. But I didn't know my D&D mythology that well. Even though I played Baldur's Gate, I didn't realize they were reptilian. 2 Link to comment

The remains of yet another who has suffered death affixed cruely to a makeshift cross, baking and dehydrating in the unforgiving desert sun. The expression displayed by the facial mélange seems somewhat incongruous, however. 2 Link to comment

After years of confusion, I finally understand why those guys are not tiny lizards. and why didn't you simply asked? Why didn't I ask? Because I though "kobold" was an old made up word like "grue" The PC taunt sound files for kobolds are labeled "gnome". So excuse me for thinking the developers wanted to rename the gnomes to something more vile. Kobolds are like goblins - their look changes with every world. The original D&D 1st edition ones looked like half lizard, half dog-rat. Later versions became more reptilian. And these are just western designs. Eastern designs can be completely different. P.S. Last one is the kobold form Dwarf Fortress. I have no clue how that happened. Edited July 1, 2015 by SX255 2 Link to comment
Popular Post Flix 5,116
Kobolds are like goblins - their look changes with every world. Agreed, that looks to be the case. In fact it even looks like Ascaron didn't quite know what to do with them at first either. There are a few instances where kobolds are actually called goblins, despite goblins being an established separate creature in the series. Case in point: the "barbarian" shrinkhead that's called "shrinkhead-goblinoid" in the game files even though it's a kobold head (goblinoids get an orc head - confusing when you're modding). And let's not forget the "Goblin Camp" that's entirely populated with kobolds, with nary a goblin in sight. In the end though, they may have been spot with the name. I mean, the picture on the wiki page is the spitting image of our little nuisance. 2 Link to comment

Popular Post Hooyaah 2,799
Noteworthy, are the differences between these statues of Ker, one of which is on the route to the Bengaresh Desert Dragon's lair, and the statues of Ker located at the numerous temples of the gods throughout the land of Ancaria. For instance, if you look closely, one of the variations (aside from the placements of the bowl and the blade that she is holding) is the severed head that Ker is grasping by its hair is on her right side, not the left as it is on the other likenesses at the temples. There may be other alterations between some of the other reproductions of Ker elsewhere; I will report them here if and when I discover them. 2 Link to comment
Popular Post Flix 5,116
Neat. There are 2 variants for each god statue. I'm not sure if there's any rhyme or reason to it, but I suspect one type is used for Temples and the other is for when the statues appear "in the wild." Ker and Kybele both get a special 3rd broken, bloody variant that appears in the Cursed Forest. Kybele's is part of Dratted Little Beasts quest. I think maybe the Ker statues are in the Lost Crypt. 2 Link to comment

That's quite a fascinating detail woven into the game and the fact that each of the gods has an alternate version, not only adds intrigue, it also makes the deities somewhat more palpable. I can envision Ker, in particular, as having continually writhing and undulating arms, carrying out her insidious and abominable activities. Link to comment
