Popular Post j89bravo 11
Ok, here I am again tinkering with my favorite toon, the wood elf. I saw a post that was asking if a wood elf melee build would be viable and whether best to go dagger sword saber or staff. I'm here to say none of the above :-P I've literally been up all night, its 5am here lol but I just couldn't leave this toon alone. She's only 25 right now but is ridiculously powerful, been playing silver since level 3, (realized I wasn't in silver at that point lol) so without further ado, here's my take on the melee wood elfSkillsAgility--- so far I've only put 11 actual points in itWeapon lore---only 1 point so farConcentration---maxedTrading---maxedSword lore--- 1 point so farArmor---1 point so farI know what your thinkin, sounds lame, crappy damage output blah blah, but one thing u got to realize quick about this toon is that it is a trader and I am wearing armor rings weapons with almost nothing but + to all skills in it so when I put my armor back on my stats look like thisAgility---27Weapon lore---17Concentration---43Trading---38Sword lore---17Armor---17Not bad for a lowbie level 25 eh? :-P oh and btw I also have 400% RSM from all my armor put together, I shopped for what seemed like hours for the meg enid's set, the blizzard one, although its not the real set it looks like it and that's what I wanted :-PAttributesAll points to phys regenGear, as stated earlier I've been looking for gear with the following:RSMLife leech+ to all skillsCombat artsHard hit--- keep regen at 1sec or less, this is you're mage/archer killerMulti hit---good for when surrounded by a mob, used it a lot around lvls 6-12 but not so much anymoreEye for an eye (attack)--- this is my main kill skill, with a sword its a 5 hit or 4 hit combo not quite sure since the animation is so fast, and speaking of fast all combat arts for the wood elf execute at the same speed no matter what weapon u have equipped, I've tried it with sword dagger twohand sword axe staff etc. You must keep the regen of this as close to 1sec or 1.5 sec as possible because the combo will be done by thenGeneral gameplay so far, early on this game did not want me to play melee, if I had a dollar for everytime a rare or unique bow dropped I would be rich, and melee wood elf is hard starting off due to low damage output and crappy defense, so a solution for that is to get a stick, and I literally mean stick, not a halberd, spear, polearm, whatever u want to call them. You want the staff mainly because of the %dexterity to defense, this and a quick hand at the space bar will keep you alive the first few levels, and it is possible to start this type of elf on silver and not have to level in bronze first, afterall, I'm doin it right now. After you get you're trading up, (I solely put points into trading after I got it to catch it up to my level quickly) find you a good sword and board, I prefer the wood elf specific hooked cleaver lookin like thing, dunno what else to call it lol. Run around like that killing everything in sight until you get comfortable with it. Then take away the shield, that's right, I said it, give that little girl a big two handed claymore! She may swing it slow auto attacking but don't let that fool you! She swings that thing just as fast using her combat arts as if it were any other kind of melee weapon, and this is where your killing power comes from. My attack CA is level 7 currently with a 1.6sec regen time and I still get done with it slightly before I can use it again! And I'm doin 561-810 damage per swing of that CA, factor in crit chance and its beast. My hard hit is just as fast at level 14 with a regen time of 1.2 sec dishing out 2142-3096 damage! Yes she is very capable of handling herself, I stood toe to toe with D'Cay the desert dragon at level 15 and killed her no problem and don't even get me started on runes, I get so many rune drops its crazy. I'm very proud of this elf so far and as I continue to level up I will keep concentration and trading maxed putting left over points into the other skills, I plan on taking parry and constitution for my next to skill choices to round out the build, and switch to sword and board if I start to get hurt too much. Its a work in progress, even tho it was a painful slow start she's become very powerful. Let me know what you guys think and I will continue to post updates as I level up. As for now I should probably try to get some sleep...zzzzz 2 Link to comment
j89bravo 11
****edit I forgot to mention that I am playing sacred underworld, single player, and as such I can't transfer riches and runes from other toons so this toon started at level 1 ground zero with no help at all and is still doing just fine Link to comment
tom.morrow 89
Nice, Wood Elf was my fav. class in s.1 Exploding arrow IIRC the wood elf was designed to be able to go melee, she even has an interesting bored animation when equiped with a "stick" Link to comment
j89bravo 11
Yea she will stand with the staff and shake her hips lol, speaking of funny stuff, through my hours of trading last night to find pieces of look a like meg enid gear I found a couple pieces of armor I haven't been able to find anywhere else, they don't look like the sets, in general they just looked funny on the wood elf, one was a chest piece that had spikes coming off her shoulders and spikes comin out her tits!! And the other one looked like an ancient samurai helmet. Never seen anything that looked like that before for a wood elf Link to comment
