Can't get past dragon under Seraphim Island

Found my old level 50 Dryad. She's in gold difficulty but I can't get passed the dragon under seraphim island. I trap it with vines but at some point it just stops being trapped n mops me up. No matter how much I spam vines it just takes flight n breaks roots. I turn off bark and up my fire protection. I have no more ideas.

If you look up Xanthiar on the wiki, you'll see he's weak against ICE damage.

So.. I'd recommend:

1.) stocking up on plenty of health pots

2.) socketing ice dmg into your weapons

NOTE: Once he's beaten you and killed you off.. It'll be pretty much impossible to kill him.

Why? Because you've lost your entire Survival Bonus. I learned this the hard way with my first ever character.

At this point going back and trying again is kind of futile - best to go back and grind a bit to build up your survival bonus a bit before trying again.

Oh. I didn't realize survival bonus affected damage. Its been a few years since I've played n I'm still relearning the details. Thank you for the help. Much appreciated. Where do you recommend a level 50 go to grind a while?

Is your dryad a caster or a ranger?

The dragon has special attacks which slow your attackspeed.

The dragon specials do a part of magic damage, don't do all orbs fire.

The dragon has special attacks which do damage ticks for a while at the place they hit, move if you see such an attack.

I keep barkskin on. I have it modified for more armour. So the orbs are boosted by it, may be even enough to counter the fire malus.

A 20% vulnerabilitymay be less harmful than running into peak damages near null armour.

Where to grind..?

Wherever the baddies are that aren't too far below you. Ideally, you want them to have green or yellow rings around them. White... Not so much.

The whole explanation on what Survival Bonus is and how it works can be found here... But, I think the Sacred 1 version is a lot simpler and easier to grok.

Always found it amusing that Xanthiar is the tougher boss to deal with over the Carnach. :P

Anyways, it's old fashioned grinding for me that also kept my ranged dryad decent in gold, and I also don't turn off ancient bark due to the heavy armor it provides along with its HP regeneration. Fire is a minor irritation which can be dealt with in several ways via amulets, equipment, etc. Been too long since I played, but I want to think my ranged dryad was at around level 60 when she fought him.

Oh ok. In poe n Diablo 2 there were more ideal leveling areas for certain levels. I didn't have the extent of practice with t hmm is game as did with those so I'm not completely familiar with the nuances.

Maybe its me but im at gold also and I have no issues in killing bosses, I have a level 100+ High Elf on pyro , and I pretty much 1 hit everything, and bosses something like 10 Meteors, oh but I have a 125 set on me , maybe thats why.

I like turtle island for levelling. Just 2 different enemies, so it is easy to attach the armour to them. They are not great for good items, but they drop big amounts of mentors.

My level 156 weaponmaster dryad kills each niob boss in 10 seconds and in half the cases even getting a shrunken head. And this barehanded with flip kicks, but she uses carefully chosen equipment collected in a year.

A nature dryad is hard to start, probably best to play here melee style first: a lifeleech shuriken with sockets, a shield with sockets and forge hit chance rings in each of the 3 or more sockets in this boss killing weapon slot. My dryads normally have alchemy, so I get attack speed and hit chance from trophies.

I took alchemy too ironically. I'm not the experienced in the game since I bought it so close to the server shutdown. I will definitely need to forge some stuff to socket in my gear. thats something I always forget. like I said, I had very little experience in this game. but now that I'm back on it, I'll learn slowly but surely. thanks to everyone for the pointers. we'll see how it goes. lol

Started a Dryad and im level 60, farmed my way up to 60 by doing quests, I finished the Elf region fully, and human, and almost finished Orc region, I want to mention that I farmed at Seraph Training Region and the Cursed Region (side note: If you do farm there, the experience is amazing, but its hard to survive) . And right now im with full level 75 set and I use RPH sockets and Double Shot of Rageful Blow, and I basicaly one hit everything, when im doing a boss, because my rph its as high as my cooldown, im like a machine gun , oh and im using a bow, blowpipe is just pure annoying. The only issues I found so far with bosses are my magic resistence, hits me realy hard sometimes, but its doable, if you run around and not get 1 hit XD.

What I wanted to say , is you dont need half regeneration and a pure based dryad on range + dex + armor should be more then enough to 1 hit everything, oh and Tactics of course.
