Dragon Brother 619
Been away camping for a week and come back for this!! So good! Cannot wait! Edit: For anyone interested the website has been updated with a little more info about the classes and so on compared to when I last saw it. You may have seen this already. It looks like the 'dragon mage' is a blood mage based on the info. The class bits are under the Game section on the site. Link to comment
Schot 407
Hmm. The only way I could see it was to quote the post ... Wonder why I couldn't see anything otherwise? [Added] Even after quoting the post, I still can't see anything but I can copy the link while in edit mode and paste it into my browser to see the video. What's going on here! Should be fine now Spock. Your member group was being blocked for some reason... All good now! Link to comment

Schot 407
Ah ok. Well... Might be time for you to troubleshoot your OS and try other browsers. Maybe a setting you have on? Everyone, drop everything you're doing, and start working on S3 wiki nao! lol, this is kinda what went racing through my head as I was watching the trailer... "OMG I have so much work to do now!" oooooooh, looks good. I just hope they stay true to the type of game we all like... Delta! Me too! Or better yet. I hope they borrow a lot from Sacred 1. When I saw the "blood" mage appear in the trailer, (gonna be THE best character in the game btw. Just sayin! ), I got the feeling that Keen games is borrowing a lot from the old Sacred 1 Battlemage. Which would be awesome! The Battlemage was TONS of fun. The real question...... Will we have awesome mounts:) Mounts! Oh yes, there must be mounts. If Sacred Citadel is any indicator to that affect then they should be interesting. Link to comment
Popular Post Mystix123 60
They said at one point (long ago), that they were developing with PS3 as the primary platform, because it had the most primitive hardware. Correct, they are using the PS3 as the primary platform, but not for the reason you stated. (In fact, the PS3 has more powerful hardware than the 360, except for a potential GPU advantage to the 360: http://ca.ign.com/articles/2010/08/26/xbox-360-vs-playstation-3-the-hardware-throwdown?page=1) The PS2 was notoriously difficult to develop for (coding-wise), and the PS3 suffered from a less extreme fate (though I've heard that it's not as pleasant as PC or 360). So, it's the more difficult development process which usually makes the PS3 the lead platform for multi-platform games. Thankfully, Sony learned and has made the PS4 comparably easy to develop for. I'm still highly skeptical of the game, it really feels like Dungeon Siege 3 (a game which had a ton of potential, but execution was lacking). I'm going to have to see some very impressive gameplay videos to shake that feeling. 2 Link to comment
lujate 575
I cannot comment on the truthfulness of the PS3 justification, just that DS used that excuse the last time they announced the release of S3. IIRC, PS3 and Xbox360 both use IBM POWER chips like older Mac's and the big IBM systems (like Watson), as opposed to the chips used in standard Wintel hardware. I believe both console platforms have dropped POWER for the latest systems. That in itself should make the process smoother for PC/console games. Hopefully we will see some actual S3 game-play footage soon. Link to comment

Because I really prefer your interpretation of bloodmage class to the impression I'm getting from his description on the official site. That description makes him look like Dark Elf rather that Battlemage - an assassin with dual blades and curse-type magic. Not that the Dark Elf was not awesome, but a Sacred game needs a good mage class - something that was present in S1 and Sacred 2, but is absent from many other ARPGs. Though even if this guy is an assassin, he still looks like the most interesting of the five. And, as I mentioned the Dark Elf, had anybody heard of non-human races in Sacred 3? All characters except the seraphim are clearly human, while in S1 and Sacred 2 Ancaria was pictured as throughoutly multinational place - what with Elves, Orcs, mythical Dwarves, wise but oftenly violent Dragons and all other types of beings. Wonder if they keep that trait of the world. Edited February 22, 2014 by Silver_fox 2 Link to comment

It will be interesting to see how they balance the two aspects of blood magic and assassin blade style combat. In fact that will be the same for all classes which they seem to have gone for a dual aspect for each type: Seraphim: Melee (sword)/Divine Power Safiri: Melee (Giant mace thing)/Sun Power Ancarian: Melee (spears)/Earth and nature power Khukuri: Ranged/Ice Malakhim: Melee (dual blades)/Blood Magic I do wonder how much freedom we will have in being able to choose which "aspect" we want to focus on... I really hope we aren't forced to rely upon physical combat and periodically pop off a combat art from the other aspect as opposed to being able to rely upon purely one aspect. 3 Link to comment
Popular Post Flix 5,116
It looks like they're going with a "multinational" approach (each character class is named by their nation after all), but not a "multi-race" approach. "Races" in this case meaning humans and beings other than humans. I saw a similar change going from Divine Divinity to Divinity II. The first had Humans, Elves, Orcs, Dwarves, Imps, Trolls, and Lizard Folk, all with distinct cultures. Divinity II just had humans. There were goblins and imps present but only as enemies (goblins also just seemed made up out of the blue, like these Ashen empire Demon guys). In the case of Divinity series if you watch the developer diaries they had planned for all the other races and regions but ran out of both time and money. Mentioning the transition from Dungeon Siege II to Dungeon Siege III seems appropriate as well. They preserved the names (tenth legion, Kingdom of Ehb), but otherwise it could have been just any game from a new franchise. The gameplay also suffered from a general blandness and consolitis (I'm not a console-basher, I just note when my PC version suffers interface and control issues because of console development). S3 may dodge these bullets, it's too early to tell though. Elements of either of the Dragon Mage or Battlemage are more than a welcome sight to me. Right now I see the visuals of the Dragon Mage (who joined the Hair Club for Men) and some new smoky/fire powers. Promising. Maybe the mage powers will be split between him and the Seraphim. Notice she only contributed to the fight with magic (and throwing that one guy off the bridge), and she now looks blended with the High Elf. Her days as a hybrid warrior-woman may be over. The other character classes are kinda bland. Big dude with big weapons, the "average" woman (calling her the Ancarian made me chuckle a little), pretty mage woman (sorry all love to the seraphim but she was always kinda 'yawn'), and ranger guy. At least none look copied out of other games but I don't think they've got much of voice yet. Remember the reveals for the Sacred 2 characters? That was memorable stuff, especially seeing light and shadow versions. Now, maybe relying on crazy looks is kinda gimmicky (whoa, a cyborg Anubis?) but Sacred's all about fun and unusual character classes. S1 had only 2 humans out of 8, and Sacred 2 had only 1 out of 7. So let's hope the identities of these people from new nations that we've never heard of really get to shine through. I'm kind of intrigued by the "outta my way" approach to coop play. The Ancarian pushing the big dude back a step as she stepped forward into the fray. The "Victory is Ours, Glory is Mine" tagline. The "Outshine your friends" bit on the official site. I'm not judging one way or the other, good or bad. I think it's interesting, and I wonder how the attitude will factor into the feel of the gamplay. 3 Link to comment

"Races" in this case meaning humans and beings other than humans. Curse my english. I thought of writing "multiracial" instead of "multinational" but mistakingly decided against it. One should not try being more politically correct at expence of being understood right. And for some reason, I thought about likening to Dungeon Siege III from the very beginning of Sacred 3 discussion. A world that does not seem the same at the first sight, characters with fixed names, stories and professions, console-oriented development. I just hope that S3 would be able to avoid the same fate of nice-to-see-but-easy-to-forget game and would offer good dinamics and gameplay balance. The overall conception of: Warrior, Mage, Hunter, Ranger for these four is pretty standart RPG class approach. But that cliche can turn out interesting if the balance is right and abilities of these classes are fun to use. Seeing as they have some magical aspect added as a second skill, I hope it would be closer to the first Sacred where both elves, daemon and seraphim had secondary magical skills but it did not feel like an unnecessary addition slapped on top of a class. I'm kind of intrigued by the "outta my way" approach to coop play. The Ancarian pushing the big dude back a step as she stepped forward into the fray. The "Victory is Ours, Glory is Mine" tagline. I think it's interesting, and I wonder how the attitude will factor into the feel of the gamplay. Let's all pray to whatever powers we believe in that Flix turned out to be right and S3 offered a new approach to co-op playing. The developers' attitude on competitive co-op can mean two things - either "we have a new idea that can make our co-op more original and fresh than what other ARPGs have" or "we failed to make a normal party synergy and cooperative tactics so we decided to promote the game as a competition". It's obvious which is preferable. On a bright side - we won't be disappointed to not find many options to support our party mambers because the game focuses on different playstyle. Link to comment
Popular Post Aegis 256
Well, if nothing else, seeing the trailer and the art on the character profiles are making my pencil hand twitch a bit. I am leaning on DaveO's mindset or at least Mystix' mindset in the fact that I am still on the fence about this game... but at least we finally get to see something new after who knows how long. If this ends up good, I wouldn't mind seeing this on current gen consoles, but at least it'll be on PC. Edited February 22, 2014 by Aegis 2 Link to comment
SX255 630
Now that looks more promising than the screenshots from 2012. Hope the actual gameplay is good, or at least as fun as the Dungeon Siege series. Keep an eye out for official petitions, as they are bound to miss good parts of the old game! The Seraphim is back to the roster. That’s good. I don’t mind her looking like the High Elf. Sadly, no Dwarf, Temple Guardian or any pistol in sight. Hope we get them in an expansion or two. Or at least have the ability to mod them in eventually. Is the smoke guy supposed to be a merge between the Inquisitor, Battle Mage and Dragon Mage? Cool. The archer is a tad too similar to the barbarian in muscle size. Also, when in lore does this game take place? 1 Link to comment
