Progress in co-op campaign

I wonder if is it possible to complete campaing for 2 characters at the same time (me and my gf are playing at lan). Or is there any other option to achieve higher levels faster? For example I am hosting a game and she joins, then we complete campaign (on silver) and do we both can play on gold or just me? (assuming we are under level 60)

If you are both at the same part of the main campaign, you should both have your progress saved.

In multiplayer, the best way to determine whether or not your progress is being saved is to watch out for save messages that appear when you come into a new zone, complete a quest, or use the monolith. If both of you see the "Game saved" message, then all progress in campaign and side quests is being saved for both characters, but if "Character saved. Campaign status not saved" message appears, then you've probably chosen a wrong game mode. To be saved correctly, both characters need to be created for multiplayer games. If a singleplayer character enters MP, the progress won't be saved. Also, "Free Play" mod never saves quest progress.

The simplest and quickest way to check what Silver_fox said is to press F9. Unless I changed the button mapping myself at some point, that should be the quicksave button.
