File Backup Utility

I'm looking for some software for backing up/syncing files in my company laptops

On our server we have all of our templates/programming files and serves as our master/primary reference. All the laptops have these files. Sometimes when out in the field, we will update one of these files. So what I need is this:

1) A program that can look at all the laptop files and compare it to the file server and only copy updated files to server.

2) The ability to automatically archive older files on server if the laptop has a newer one. It cannot overwrite any files. This would be horrible for us, as we often 'rollback' files

3) The ability to compare files between laptop and server and only download updated files to laptop.

4) The ability to do this automatically via a batch file or something as we are planning on syncing server/laptops once a week. Hoping I can just run a simple program with a command or 2

Does anyone have any experience with backup utilities? Planning on buying something with in a week or 2 (have new laptops coming in next week)

Something like dropbox might work? Once it's installed on your computer anything in the synced locations are stored (and are accessible) online and on any computers with dropbox installed that have been given access to the correct folder. It's saved my butt before with uni stuff, forgetting to bring an assignment on the due date, but I had saved it in the synced folder so could just get it online!

Updates sync as they are made and if 2 people try and save a copy at the same time it creates a copy and names it as "so and so's conflicted copy" so you cant overwrite someone's work.
