AdanosV 2
Heya, Interested in playing sacred gold once again, playing sacred 2 at the moment still I prefer sacred 1, had more magic about it. Sacred 2 is too colorful for my taste. Thanks in advance, Sew 1 Link to comment
Flix 5,116
God I wish there was. Every few months I return to Sacred 1, and I always do some online searches first to see if anyone made a widescreen/resolution mod for it. But I don't think it's possible, as most posts I've read say it's got a hard-coded resolution that can't be changed by a mod. I agree about the fantasy charm of Sacred 1 over part 2, but FYI, there is a texture mod for Sacred 2 that makes it less colorful: Wardust's Serious Textures. I deleted your duplicate topic that you made. 1 Link to comment

I was actually going through some old school videos on youtube of game play from Sacred... you and Flix hit it for me by mentionning it's very classical "fantasy" feel... its too bad the game cant go widescreen...that would surely end up with a current reboot^^ gogo Link to comment

Would have deleted it as soon as I would any answer. Good to know. I will check this patch. Thanks god there is something like that. I had to use sweet fx to decrease the colors intensity. 1 Link to comment

Flix 5,116
Interesting. Though, in all the screenshots the resolution looks stretched horizontally, as if the proportions weren't preserved. Not true widescreen. I can definitely see an improvement in the 3D models, though it's really the 2D art (ground textures especially) and the interface that suffers from low resolution and needs improving. Still, I'll give it a shot. Thanks for sharing this info Psojed and welcome to DarkMatters! 1 Link to comment
Psojed 5
Yes, the proportions were not preserved. I guess since everything in the game was made for 4:3 resolution, you would either need to have black bars on the sides in widescreen, or use some 4:3 resolution like 1600x1200. Luckily, my monitor has a nice feature called "4:3 in Wide", which does exactly that. I push a button and the stretched widescreen changes to 4:3 with black bars and it looks as it should look like. I can't capture it on a screenshot, but I could make a photo And I guess the 2D textures would need some upscaling. Link to comment
grimwold 28
Actually ive been having some really good results with this in 1080p. Especially in the latest beta. Sadly though once I got my resistance glow It all went a bit buggy. Saying that its coming along and its a nice wrapper. Soon. If anyone knows a workaround please give me a shout. http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/447367629494054900/E386EC0530EBFAB4161D618D1DDE38A2B8D1C427/ I need to dial the aa back 8x is to much. Popular Post Psojed 5
I'm back for more! So I started fiddling with Sacred once more. And after some testing, I was able to beat the game's stubborn windowed mode and got a nice standard Window going, which can be resized, moved and functions like any other standard Window. Also, I finally can alt-tab out of the game and it doesn't stop working! So to do this, I actually had to leave the game set into Fullscreen mode (Via config.exe), then I used dgVoodoo2 to force the game into a window, and it actually works. DgVoodoo has an option to set the resolution to biggest possible window while keeping the aspect ratio 4:3. Due to my screen resolution I made some quick screenshots at 1280x960, but feel free to test it out at your desktop resolutions. Also, the new version comes with an option to force different types of texture filtering, but I have yet to see any difference: https://imgur.com/a/V0aIT PS: guess the anti-bot defense is still against me Edited August 16, 2017 by Psojed 2 Link to comment
