Hooyaah 2,800
Welcome ameaeth, here is a convenient link to the file that lujate was referring to: http://darkmatters.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/320-dark-support-characters There are plenty of threads here regarding character build advice and instruction if you are interested. Just out of curiosity, what's your favorite character? Link to comment
Popular Post ameaeth 50
Thanks fo all your replys. Downloading it is certainly a viable option. I didn't even think about this possibility. As for why I used the term "taxi", I know that in closed net server days it was used to describe high level chars rushing lowbies to Niob. I am not quite sure how it was done though and if there was some nifty trick or glitch involved. I'd like to know this secret if it exists. @ Hooyaah I have two favourite chars: 1. Perma Shadow Veil + Spectral Hand SW 2. Destroyer DM Edited March 3, 2016 by ameaeth 2 Link to comment
lujate 572
My understanding is that it went like this: A Silver toon finishes the campaign, killing the Guardians but not flipping the switch. Later, that Silver toon starts a campaign and runs to the Guardian room. The lowbie joins and teleports to the Silver toon. The Silver toon drops and the lowbie flips the switch. The lowbie has now unlocked Gold. Repeat with a Gold and a Platinum toon and you have a lowbie with Niob access. 1 Link to comment
Popular Post Hooyaah 2,800
Another way one may propel a character to a high level is by editing the balance.txt file located in the scripts/server folder. You may search for this section: local basetables = { tableRows = 16,-- begin of some hard-coded data EFFECTDURATION = {500,3000,5000,5000},-- end of hard-coded data QuestExplow = {20,25,30,40,50}, QuestGoldlow = {25,30,35,40,50}, SpellFactorDiff = {800,1000,1200,1500,2000}, QuestGoldmax = {3025,4030,5035,6040,8050}, DefenseFactorDiff = {650,1000,1500,2500,4500}, QuestExpmax = {4020,5025,6030,8040,10050},MP_experience = {1000,1150,1325,1550,1825}, NPC_speedfac_any = {1000,1050,1100,1175,1250}, AttackFactorDiff = {800,1000,1750,2750,4500}, DamageFactorDiff = {1000,1050,1200,1350,1500}, LifeFactorDiff = {1000,1400,2000,3000,4000}, MP_damage = {1000,1050,1100,1160,1220}, MP_lifeHP = {1000,1300,1650,2100,2650}, MP_EShieldHP = {1000,1300,1650,2100,2650}, MP_combatvalue = {1000,1100,1210,1330,1460}, MP_armor = {1000,1100,1210,1330,1460}, Spawn_OffsetLow = {0,0,40,70,110}, Spawn_OffsetHigh = {0,35,80,120,175}, Spawn_FactorPM = {1000,1100,1175,1250,1350}, PriceFactor = {700,1000,1400,1900,2500}, RuneLevel = {1,1,20,35,50}, Potion_big_duration = {9000,9000,9000,9000,7500}, Potion_small_duration = {9000,8000,7000,5500,4000}, Potion_middle_duration = {9000,9000,8000,7000,6000}, NPC_attrWdam_fact = {1000,1100,1250,1500,2000}, MP_intensity = {1000,1100,1210,1330,1460}, LevelCapDiff = {60,100,140,180,200}, BlacksmithSkillForDiff = {1,20,60,105,150}, LevelMinForDiff = {1,1,60,100,140}, AllEnemy_lvl = {1,10,20,200,250}, Enemy_armor = {800,900,1000,6000,7200}, Enemy_weapondamage = {650,850,1000,3300,3630}, Enemy_spelldamage = {500,800,1000,3500,3850}, SpellAttackFactorMT = {1000,1330,2000,2000}, SpellDefenseFactorMT = {1000,1750,2500,2500}, HitFactorMT = {1000,1500,2000,2000}, DamageFactorMT = {1000,1200,1400,1400}, LifeQuotientMT = {2500,800,125,125},} Highlighted in gold is the integer that you may raise in order to increase experience points. If you raise it to a mad-high level, 100000000 (for example) then you will get way up there in no time. Using Shadow Veil you could simply work the main quest until each level is completed until you reached Niob. You could do this without changing the balance notepad file as well, but your combat arts and weapon damage would be low and the going would be slowed. Using this method, not altering the game balance file or amending the game otherwise, I got my Shadow Warrior to level 47 and Niob in just under 24.5 hours of play. One big advantage to having a low level Niob character is whatever special items drop for them have far better/higher attributes than the same item at a lower level. Likewise, any items purchased from a vendor would also have higher item modifiers. A High Elf using Cascading Shroud as a permanent buff could achieve this as well and would be able to select and employ the Bargaining skill to her advantage. Items could be acquired by 47/Niob players, for example, then placed in the shared chest and accessed by toons that are a 47/Silver character. You would need to make a modification to the spells text file in order to allow the High Elf to employ Cascading Shroud as a permanent buff. Thanks to my good friend Flix, I can share this method with you upon your request. He certainly knows a ting or two about game modification and the like. 2 Link to comment
Androdion 870
I have two questions for Lujate: 1 - Those [D.a.r.k] character, are they closed net and as such can't be saved while playing in single player mode (the campaign progress that is)? 2 - The method you describe at the Guardians chamber, is it possible in single player mode? Sorry for being confused but I was under the impression that in single player you can't do these kind of things and you have to actually complete the campaign over and over at each level until you get to Niob. Do correct me if I'm wrong. 1 Link to comment
lujate 572
1. Yes, they are MP toons, so you can't save SP progress. You can always play MP as a LAN game solo. 2. Not really in SP. 1 Link to comment
Popular Post Dragon Brother 619
An even faster way to do it modify the line below. Change all values to 1 and the minimum level required for each difficulty will now be 1. LevelMinForDiff = {1,1,60,100,140}, 4 Link to comment
Hooyaah 2,800
The difficulty with being a level one Niob character is that your opponents will be wicked powerful and your toon won't have enough oomph to do any real damage. One could go on making changes here and there, but where does one decide to draw the line between what is fun and what takes us too far from the game as it was intended. That is a question we all must answer as individuals. Whatever the answer is, the choice is ours to make and there is always the option to do a fresh reload and go back to square one. This is an important distinction that separates such a game from real life where our choices oft have permanent consequences that do not allow going back; if there is a "reset button" I have not yet found it. 1 Link to comment
Veracious 267
I still prefer to edit the quest experience bonus according to the level up experience guide on sacred wiki. You set the quest reward to the level 200 experience and poof you have all skill points and unlocked skills. Make your shopper without ever having to play through or glitch rush/taxi your toon. Niob well be automatically available. 1 Link to comment

ameaeth 50
Thanks for sharing all your experience and expertise with the game, its appreciated! My favourite variants for this so far are: 1. Using end of the campaign chars to pull a lowbie through. Combined with the mp campaign bug. 2. Downloading an L2 Niob Char 3. Edit balance.txt The sole reason for that order is that I like to not tamper with game files too much. If I have a L2 Niob bargaining char I still need one every other level to support my battle chars throughout their life. So I'd need to make a copy of my bargaining char on L2 and level that copy to L30 for example. Is there a safe way to change its name, so I don't have 6 bargaining chars or more with the same name doing so to L200? Edited March 5, 2016 by ameaeth Link to comment

Level 200 shopper is a level 200 shopper isn't it? Or is it literally a level 2 character with some strange glitch benefit for being in niob? It's the idea to not level? Link to comment
lujate 572
A L2 Niob shopper is used to buy gear for new toons. Since your Bargaining can be so much higher than your actual level, you can get some very nice items. That's the L2's only purpose. They live on Start Island and shop. 1 Link to comment

Popular Post Flix 5,116
L2 = Level 2? You can buy low level Niobium gear and hand it down to the "real" character that you're actually playing in Silver. Niobium gear has much better values than the same level gear in Bronze or Silver. The best way is Dragon Brother's. Just remove level minimum requirements in balance.txt. Or use the character editor to set difficulty unlocked. 2 Link to comment
Popular Post lujate 572
The method I described was for ClosedNet and is just a little historical tidbit at this point. The toon was a level 2 High Elf with Bargaining. You wanted your Bargaining as high as possible, so you slotted as much +Bargaining and +All Skills as possible. 2 Link to comment
