Popular Post Icekat 10
Hi all! I apologise if this has been answered before, but I am slightly confused why a caster would take magic staves lore/focus - I tend not to bash enemies with the tip of my staff I understand why tactics lore and various weapon lores have their place, but just the thought of bashing kobolds with my stick ...well, it just doesnt' seem right hehe. Do the staff lores effect only the weapon speed or is there a casting speed benefit that comes with staff lore/focus. Thank you in advance for an answer, I am new to the mechanics of this game . Playing the diablo 2 mod atm and having a blast. I've decided to mix firestorm/fissure into my rotation, turning into wereowolf only when I need to run away from mobs or when I'm in the mood to be super brave (with grizzly and dire world saving my little behind more often than not ) Thanks Flix, gogo, et al for being so patient with me. 2 Link to comment

Flix 5,116
You can shoot magical projectiles with Magic Staff Lore. But yes, they are still subject to all the normal weapon considerations, like your attack rating vs. enemy defense rating. Luckily the Magic Staff skill also provides a nice boost to attack rating. But if you're never going to attack with your staff, you're right, there's not much point to the skill. It doesn't unlock any special bonuses like other weapon lore skills. Maybe I should create some for the mod to give more incentive to take the skill. What are some interesting modifiers that could be unlocked by Magic Staff Lore? Casting Speed +X%? Combat Art Range +X%? I'll try to think of some. 1 Link to comment
Popular Post Icekat 10
Thanks for the quick reply! Some interesting options could be applied, filling the screen with very fast multiple magic shots with in-build slows and screen filling- glorious purple missiles (in keeping with magic type spells). Gosh, already feeling sorry for the poor kobolds . Combat Art Range +X% would perhaps keep melee mobs from enveloping caster type toons too much. Lols, I really need to get some sleep, already dreaming of this gem of a game. Night for now, looking forward to your continued work on the great Diablo2 mod 2 Link to comment

Popular Post chattius 2,512
And of cause the -hüstel- special staff fighting characters dryad and inquisitor where staff lore and certain weapon attacks result in dead monsters farer than you can look. Some multiple-hit combat arts work in a strange way if you have the AddOn. The first hit needs a melee range hit, but all follow up hits of the attack series do the melee hits in the SHOOTING range of the staff. I never did a guide for these charactersm, they are so easy and overpowered, close to cheating. http://darkmatters.org/forums/index.php?/topic/14581-massive-area-of-effect-dryad-in-the-addon/ 2 Link to comment
